Written by: Bob Colling
World Wrestling Federation presents Superstars
Date: 3/12/1994
From: Bethleham, PA
Matches:
1.)Tatanka defeated the Brooklyn Brawler
2.)Men on a Mission defeated Todd Mata & Jim Massenger
3.)Shawn Michaels defeated Mike Moraldo
4.)Earthquake defeated Bastion Booger
5.)Owen Hart defeated Ben Jordan
Angle Developments/Notes:
1. IRS shared some comments during Tatanka’s match. He says that Tatanka got a gift and that means he owes a gift tax! He is going to make sure that Tatanka pays everything he owes! After the match, IRS meets Tatanka on the aisle way. IRS insults Tatanka’s chicken feathers and gives him a forum to fill out and wants Tatanka to pay the taxes. Well, Tatanka rips the papers and heads backstage.
2. After winning his squash match, Michaels climbs a ladder and tells us that he will do much worse to Razor Ramon at WrestleMania X and will become the first three time WWF Intercontinental Champion.
3. Quake and Booger come off the ropes and meet in the middle of the ring but neither man fall down. Quake drop toe holds Booger and sends Booger to the floor with a dropkick. Yes, Quake just did a freaking dropkick. Booger works on Quake with several strikes. Adam Bomb and Harvey Wippleman share some comments saying that Bomb will destroy Quake at WrestleMania. Quake isn’t affected by a splash in the corner and powerslams Booger! Quake comes off the ropes to deliver an elbow drop. Quake finishes Booger off with the sit down splash for the win! (*1/2. A quick and painless match here. I was surprised with that Earthquake did in the match, and it was pleasant to see some new moves from the big man.)
4. Vince McMahon is in the ring and he calls out both Lex Luger and Bret Hart for a special interview! McMahon brings up the possible match between Luger and Bret Hart for the WWF World Championship if Luger were to beat Yokozuna. Luger says he has waited too long to focus on any man other than Yokozuna. That doesn’t answer the question of how he would prepare for Bret. Hart puts Luger ability over big time and mentions that Luger is the only man to slam Yokozuna. Bret says he was robbed of the championship last year. Bret goes into saying his usual catchphrase of being the best. Luger puts over Bret’s ability to compete in the ring. They could possibly find out who is the best at WrestleMania X. They go to play to the crowd in the same corner and they exchange words before going to different corners.
Final Thoughts
I enjoyed the show this week. The segment with Luger and Hart did a good job of promoting a possible match between the two of them. The featured bout was short and not all that bad. Nothing wrong with this episode I thought.
The next episode of Superstars is just a a hype episode for WrestleMania. Since it’s just hype videos and brief promos, I will not be covering it.
Thanks for reading.
