Yearly Review: WWF February 1993

The WWF is in for a big return, brother!

WWF World Championship Scene: (currently held by: Bret Hart)
The only appearance Bret Hart had during the month on television was saving his younger brother Owen Hart from a beating by Money Inc. during a tag match on the February 21st edition of Wrestling Challenge. There wasn’t much hype for the eventual match with Yokozuna taking place.

On the house show market, Bret would defend the championship against Ric Flair, Rick Martel, Lex Luger and Bam-Bam Bigelow

WWF Intercontinental Championship Scene: (currently held by: Shawn Michaels)
With Marty Jannetty having been fired by the WWF last month for showing up to work in no condition to work, Michaels needed a new challenger for the championship. On the February 13th edition of Superstars, Tatanka picked up a non-title victory over Michaels. His winning success over Michaels continued on the February 22nd edition of RAW when Tatanka and the Nasty Boys won a six man tag match against Michaels and the Beverly Brothers. Thus, Tatanka would be named the new number one contender for the WWF Intercontinental Championship.

Sensational Sherri was still involved with the feud saying that Michaels wasn’t man enough to be the champion. She was basically on the side of anyone who was trying to get the championship away from Michaels.

On the house show market, Michaels defended the championship against Randy Savage, Crush and Bob Backlund.

WWF World Tag Team Championship Scene: (currently held by: Money Inc.)
The tag team division started to pickup steam after a couple of months of being forgotten about during the month of February. During the February 1st edition of RAW, DiBiase and IRS talked about a match that DiBiase would have with Beefcake on 2/15 on RAW. On the show, Beefcake won his first match after almost three years by disqualification. However, IRS nailed Beefcake in the face with a steel briefcase to damage Beefcake’s surgically repaired face. The act by the champions would cause Jimmy Hart to leave them and turn babyface and join Hogan and Beefcake.

Hogan made his return to the WWF on February 22nd and revealed that Beefcake was okay and that the Mega Maniacs were going to be coming after Money Inc. Jimmy Hart is their manager moving forward, as well.

On the house show market, Money Inc. continued to defend the championships against the Nasty Boys. The Nasty Boys were originally suppose to get the match at WrestleMania IX but were replaced by Hogan and Beefcake.

Other Happenings:
– Lex Luger made his in-ring debut for the WWF on the February 1st edition of RAW.

– Yokozuna started a feud with Jim Duggan during the month. Duggan was determined to knock Yokozuna off his feet and beat him for USA. On the February 6th edition of Superstars, Jim Duggan was able to beat Yokozuna by knocking him off his feet. However, after the match, Yokozuna hit four Bonzai Drops and draped the American flag over Duggan, who was coughing up blood as well.

– Earthquake made his last appearance for a year on the February 20th edition of Superstars, where he lost to Bam-Bam Bigelow by count-out.

– On the February 14th edition of Wrestling Challenge, Razor Ramon taunted Mr. Perfect into the ring after beating Typhoon in a singles match. Perfect entered the ring and brawled. Ramon hit Perfect with a microphone and steel chair. Perfect fought back and they brawled backstage.
