A Star Shattered: Chapter Sixteen
This chapter is dedicated to prescription drugs, which is something Tammy had a problem with from 1997 to 2001. Her addiction to prescription pills started when she had her first drink with Shawn Michaels and doesn’t recall if Michaels or Davey Boy Smith provided her with the first pill. However, she does remember that it was a Soma. She describes the purpose of Somas and how if you overused the pills that it would provide a high and eventually you’d fall asleep.
The key to get a good high is to take a few, eat on an empty stomach and within a few minutes you’d be asleep. Tammy guesses that maybe one person on the entire crew wasn’t taking some kind of pill. Somas were very easy to obtain since they aren’t a narcotic. She once went to Tijuana, Mexico with Louie Spicolli to get a large amount of pills.
She went back to Mexico by herself and found a much easier way to buy pills. After sitting down in the shade, a man came up to her and ask what she needed. She told him what was needed and within a few minutes he returned with a brown paper bag full of what she needed and the price was incredibly low. Here is what she obtained…
Testosterone pre-loaded syringes
Vilas of Winstol
She got so much because a lot of wrestlers asked her to get them some stuff. How did she get all the stuff back into the United States? Before revealing it, she suggests nobody try it at home. Basically, she would dress like a complete tourist and park her car on the American side before walking over a bridge. 99% of the time if you drove your car would get torn apart, but when walking you’d only have to deal with a metal detector and not a body search.
When returning back from Mexico she’d act like a complete tourist happy to bring back a blanket, which had drugs in it. Her pockets would be filled with drugs. She became a pro at drug trafficking. She was really proud of herself for being able to get away with it and had an adrenaline rush every time. She did this once a month for two years. If she ever got caught she’d be in Mexican prison still.
One time at a show in Texas, she gave Sean Waltman a bottle of 90 Xanax, 2 milligrams each. By the end of the night he had 20 left in a bottle and was surprised he was still standing. When Waltman and Michaels left the show to follow Tammy and Candido to the hotel, Michaels got out of the car angrily because a loopy Waltman pissed all over the dashboard and onto Michaels. They told the clerk that Waltman just had a long flight from Australia and they were believed.
By 2003 she overcame her addiction to pills. She has lost many friends, family members and coworkers to prescription pill addiction. Perhaps if the Wellness Policy that WWE has now was implemented ten years ago a lot of those people would still be alive.
