A Star Shattered: Chapter Twenty-Five
After Chris Candido passed away, Tammy felt like she was alone. She had never been alone considering she had spent 17-years with her parents and then 16-years with Candido. In some way, she felt like an orphan. Since she had lost her father, niece and Candido, Tammy’s only way to cope with the emotions was to pick up the bottle of alcohol.
It took four months before she tried to get out of her funk. She started to work workout again and asked the gym if they needed help. Luckily, they did and she got a job in membership sales. Within three months she was the top salesperson for the gym, which included 24 gyms.
By January 2006, she met her next boyfriend, John. She wasn’t looking for anything so quickly after Candido’s death, but it just kind of happened. After their first date, she was crazy about him. Within two weeks, they lived together and she got his named tattooed on her tailbone. Similar to her job at the gym, she does things at 200%. The tattoo has since been covered up.
John gets credit for getting Tammy back into “Sunny shape.” She was asked to make an appearance at the 15th Anniversary show for WWE RAW. Tammy was nervous… about seeing Shawn Michaels for the first time since she left the company in 1998. When she got the call she was weighing 150lbs, which wasn’t good enough for TV. So, John got her on a diet and within three weeks she lost an additional 17lbs.
She was thrilled to be in that kind of shape again and she ended up getting bookings all over the country. Tammy was nervous when they got ten-minutes to the arena for the anniversary show. However, when she saw her old makeup girl, all her nerves went away. When she got a table for lunch with John, they were joined by Ric Flair and CM Punk. Punk had a “No Gimmicks Needed” tattoo in memory of Candido, who was one of his idols.
When Tammy went to get more grilled chicken she felt a tap on her shoulder. She turned around and was face to face with Michaels. Shawn greeted her with a big hug and complimented her on her look saying she hadn’t change. Tammy admits she said the same to Michaels, though he looked weathered. However, he was still attractive.
Anyway, that night she was involved in the first segment with the McMahon family. It allowed her to have more appearances in the future. In 2009, Tammy accepted an offer to be in the battle royal WrestleMania and realized that she wasn’t a wrestler. She’d have to learn quickly. She was supposed to be eliminated ninth, but she wanted out of the clusterfuck before she got hurt. So, after avoiding injury with Maryse and Victoria, she eliminated herself and Torrie Wilson.
This wasn’t the end for Tammy, though. She was going to make history again.
