From: Baltimore, MD

Matches:

2.) Jushin Liger defeated Jimmy Garvin
3.) Brian Pillman defeated George South
4.) Van Hammer defeated Eric Davidson
5.) Ron Simmons defeated WCW World Champion Vader to win the title

Angle Developments/Notes:
1.) Tony Schiavone announces that after this episode Jim Ross and Michael Hayes will be the co-hosts for the program. Schiavone will go to Power Hour while Magnum TA will co-host WCW Pro.

2.) Ross Report this week has Michael Hates as a special guest. Ross notes that they will be the hosts for WCW Main Event. They discuss the issues between Jake Roberts and Sting. Hayes likes Jake Roberts and says you can’t ever trust Roberts because he is a loose cannon. Hayes tells Sting to think twice about getting revenge on Roberts.

3.) Vader tosses the WCW World Championship at the feet of Simmons and they have a nose to nose confrontation before the bell sounds. Vader controls Simmons with a right hand but doesn’t followup with the advantage. Simmons delivers a few right hands but Vader comes back with strikes. Simmons pummels Vader in the corner with right hands on his own and Simmons is fired up. Simmons comes off the ropes to drop Vader with a clothesline and a back suplex. Simmons drops Vader with a leaping shoulder block. Vader rolls to the floor to regroup. Vader misses a clothesline and Simmons plants Vader with a spine buster but only gets a near fall on the cover. Simmons charges the corner but Vader gets his boot up to stop Simmons. Vader kicks Simmons to the floor and plays to the crowd. Vader decks Simmons with a forearm shot to the face. Vader clubs Simmons with forearms in the corner and overhand strikes. Simmons boots Vader out of the corner but Vader continues to strike Simmons. Vader splashes Simmons in the corner and delivers a clothesline. Vader hooks Simmons and connects with a vertical suplex.

Vader slams Simmons to the canvas and signals for the end. Vader leaps off the middle rope and hits a big splash but Simmons somehow manages to kick out at two! Simmons comes off the ropes but is met with a clothesline. Simmons takes Vader over with a snap suplex! Vader quickly runs into Simmons to stop Ron’s momentum. Simmons counters a clothesline attempt with a backslide but Vader kicks out at two. Vader decks Simmons with another right hand and other body shots. Vader misses a splash in the corner and is nearly pinned. Vader blocks a sunset flip attempt by hitting a sit down splash. Vader attempts a power bomb but Simmons gets out. Vader comes off the ropes and Simmons hits a power slam which is good enough for a three count! Simmons is the new champion! (**1/2. A decent main event which is more memorable because it’s the first time an African American wrestler was the WCW World Champion. The reaction was great for Simmons and it was a solid match.)

Final Thoughts:
A decent episode which is memorable simply for the Ron Simmons title win. It amazes me how these matches aren’t on WCW Saturday Night and saved for syndicated shows, but whatever.
