1.) Lance Storm defeated Mikey Whipwreck
2.) ECW World Champion Shane Douglas fought Spike Dudley to a no contest
1.) The match was originally supposed to be Lance Storm against Jerry Lynn. Mikey Whipwreck apologizes to Lynn for not knowing that Storm hit him on television. Mikey said that Storm hit him in the penis and it hurt at the pay per view. Whipwreck asks Lynn if it is cool he wrestles Storm instead and Lynn says sure before leaving.
2.) Storm goes right to work on Whipwreck ramming him into the corner and Mikey stomps away on Lance with boots. Whipwreck hits the Whippernsnapper but Storm gets his foot on the bottom rope. Mikey sends Storm into the guard railing a few times. Mikey tosses Storm into the crowd but misses a somersault dive over the railing hitting a few chairs instead. Lance rolls Whipwreck into the ring and keeps control with basic blows. Storm is nailed by Mikey with a super kick which gets a near fall. Storm hits a side Russian leg sweep to regain control of the match. Storm connects with a high knee lift and gets a two count on Whipwreck. Mikey gets out of a sleeper hold and hits a cross body for a two count. Storm stops Mikey with a jaw breaker for a two count. Lance works over Whipwreck in the corner with strikes but Mikey fights back.
Lance locks in the half Boston Crab but Mikey reaches the ropes and kicks Lance to the floor. Mikey baseball slides Storm into the guard railing and attempts a suplex from the apron but Dawn Marie holds Storm’s foot. Mikey soon hits a swinging neck breaker but Storm kicks out at two. Whipwreck elbows Lance but only gets another near fall. Mikey accidentally hits the Whippersnapper on the referee thanks to Storm putting the referee in the way. Storm hits a spinning leg kick and continues to work over Mikey. Tammy Lynn Bytch enters and slaps Whipwreck a few times. Jerry Lynn enters to smash Storm with a steel chair. Lynn hits the Whippersnapper on Whipwreck! Storm is put on top and he gets the three count. (**1/2. It’s a solid match and I’m kinda liking the three way feud between these three. Whipwreck seems to be the fall guy for the feud since he is the weakest of the three, really.)
3.) New Jack cuts a promo from somewhere on the streets in New York. Jack didn’t want to do the interview somewhere safe but instead somewhere in Harlem. He has been in ECW for three years and has dealt with a lot of bullshit. Jack took Jack Victory out with a knee injury and now he is going to take them out one by one. He doesn’t need help from anyone he can do whatever he wants by himself. He rambles about having carried his former partners but he just needs himself to get the job done now.
4.) Douglas works over Dudley early on and counters the Acid Drop with a back suplex. Douglas hits a hits a delayed vertical suplex and taunts the fans afterward. Dudley low blows Douglas but gets dropped across the top rope when he attempts the Acid Drop again. Francine chokes Spike on the floor. Douglas puts Spike over his shoulder and slams Dudley onto a ladder in the corner for a two count. Shane attempts a piledriver and spikes Dudley with one. Douglas grabs the ladder and rams it into Spike several times. Dudley attempts the Acid Drop but Shane gets out again. Dudley hits another low blow and hits the Acid Drop but Chris Candido enters the ring. Spike takes Candido out with an Acid Drop. Francine enters and slaps Spike but that doesn’t work well for her. Douglas prevents Spike from hitting the Acid Drop and locks in the reverse full nelson. Sabu runs into the ring and the show goes off the air with those two brawling. (*1/2. I liked how Douglas was smart enough to avoid the Acid Drop but eventually Spike was still able to hit the move. This is another example of interference just not needing to happen. Douglas could have gone over clean and attacked Spike leading to Sabu running out afterward.)
It’s a fine episode this week with the Storm/Whipwreck match being the best match on the show.
