Extreme Championship Wrestling House Show
Date: 3/17/2000
From: Worcester, MA

This show is taking place at some kind of club it looks like as the lighting isn’t very good on the ring. One side of the ring is right up against a stage so there isn’t a ramp way or anything. Simon Diamond cut a promo insulting the crowd at the start until Chilly Willy comes out and threatens to beat up Diamond. Diamond says he isn’t going to wrestle tonight and instead we get Prodigy.

Opening Contest: Chilly Willy vs. Prodigy: Prodigy gets the cheap advantage working over Willy with strikes and stomps. Willy comes back with a backdrop and a scoop slam. Willy dropkicks Prodigy and continues to work over Prodigy hitting a hip toss out of the corner. Chilly hammers away on Prodigy in the corner with right hands. Diamond gets on the apron as the referee is distracted. Prodigy clotheslines Willy and wins the match. (1/4*. I don’t even know why this would be on the show let alone as the opener. It would make sense if the face went over, but he jobbed to a damn clothesline.)

Second Contest: Kid Kash vs. Little Guido: Early on, Guido takes Kash down to the canvas but Kash gets position and gets a few strikes in on Guido. Guido bails to the floor to regroup. Kash shoulder blocks Guido and hits a tilt a whirl head scissors. Kash continues with a dropkick and a rollup for a near fall. Kash backdrops Guido to the apron and soon takes Guido out with a cross body to the floor. Big Sal distracts Kash allowing Guido to hit a side Russian leg sweep for a near fall. Guido works over Kash in the corner with a chop. Guido comes off the middle rope to leg drop a hunched over Kash for a near fall. Guido works over Kash in the corner with kicks to the midsection. Kash power slams a charging Guido out of the corner for a near fall. Kash misses a springboard cross body and Guido puts an arm bar on but lets go quickly. Big Sal has Kash on the floor and drops Kash over the guard railing. Guido goes for the cover but only gets a near fall. Kash tries a few pin attempts only managing a two count. Guido low blows Kash and hits the Un-Prettier for the win. (**. Another rather quick match, but a big victory for Guido especially having it be pretty much a clean victory. They didn’t do anything overly great, but it was decent enough on the undercard.)

Third Contest: Raven vs. Mikey Whipwreck: Raven actually grabs the camera from Gabe and jabs Mikey several times, which is kind of neat to see that perspective. Raven shows it off to the crowd and it returned to Gabe as Raven brings Mikey to the floor hammering him into the crowd. Raven brawls with Whipwreck in the crowd, but Gabe doesn’t go into the crowd and rightfully so since they just walk back to ringside as Raven dumped a beer on Mikey. Raven grabs a table on the floor setting it up against the staging. Raven casually sends Whipwreck through the table. Mikey manages to send Raven back first into the guard railing and chokes Raven with a chair. Back in the ring, Mikey whacks Raven over the back with a chair. Mikey comes off the ropes to deliver a leg drop for a near fall. Mikey works over Raven in the corner with a headbutt and chop. Raven stops Mikey with a right hand to the groin. Mikey regains control with several jabs and taunts him but is met with a low blow dropping Whipwreck to the mat. Raven connects with a headbutt to Mikey’s groin. Raven grabs a steel chair but Mikey is able to drop toe hold Raven face first onto the chair for a near fall. Mikey leg drops Raven over the bottom rope. Raven takes Whipwreck over with a snap suplex. Mikey plants Raven with a DDT but only gets a near fall. Mikey plants Raven with a stunner but Raven lands on top and nearly wins the match. Raven hammers away on Mikey in the corner with ten punches. Raven bulldogs Mikey face first onto the chair for a near fall. Francine and Sinister Minister are in the ring and that leads to Francine beating him up with a low bow and a bronco buster. Mikey grabs her but Raven gets up and plants Mikey with a DDT for the win. (*1/2. A rather subpar match and basic action throughout. They didn’t seem all that interested in putting on a crazy match or anything and I understand that. The crowd sure did like Raven, though.)

Fourth Contest: Danny Doring & Roadkill vs. CW Anderson & Bill Wiles: Doring and Roadkill enter the ring quickly and brawl with both Anderson and Wiles. Roadlkill plants Anderson with a side walk slam to clear the ring of the heels. Wiles and Doring shove each other with Doring hitting a jaw breaker as the referee got distracted by Electra. Anderson gets control on Doring stomping on him and choking Danny over the middle rope. CW plants Doring with an arm breaker for a near fall. Wiles arm drags Doring and controls his arm. Anderson tags in and works over Doring with a strike but Danny comes back with a few rights only to be stopped by an eye rake. Wiles works over the left arm to keep Doring on the mat. Doring is choked by Anderson in the corner while the referee is distracted. Doring plants Wiles with a jumping DDT. Wiles and Roadkill get the hot tags with Roadkill cleaning house with clotheslines. Roadkill power slams Wiles and hits a TKO on Anderson. Doring goes to the top rope but Electra crotches Doring. Lou E. Dangerously hits Roadkill with his phone and Anderson plants Roadkill with a spine buster for the win. (*1/4. These matches are all going by really quickly. It just seems weird to have Doring and Roadkill lose to a lower tier team here even if they cheated.) After the match, Lou E. Dangerously is taken out with the Hart Attack.

Fifth Contest: Balls Mahoney vs. Vic Grimes: Mahoney is pissed about Grimes putting New Jack in the hospital and starts the match with a series of jabs. Mahoney bites Grimes in the corner. Grimes splashes Mahoney and delivers a middle rope headbutt to his groin. Grimes has a pizza cutter and slices Mahoney’s forehead. Grimes continues to slice Mahoney causing Balls to be busted wide open. Grimes splashes Mahoney in the corner but misses a big boot and is met with a low blow. Mahoney has a fork and jabs Grimes in the forehead with it. Mahoney is going to make Grimes bleed and it doesn’t take long for that to happen. Mahoney jabs Grimes with the fork in the corner after a running head start. Grimes sends Mahoney into the railing and misses a splash flying over the railing into the crowd. They brawl into the crowd for a few moments. Grimes leaps off a wall to elbow drop Mahoney in the crowd. They return to the ring where Grimes leg drops Mahoney for a two count. Grimes clotheslines Mahoney and taunts the fans. Grimes butt splashes Mahoney in the corner. Grimes goes to the top rope and misses a swanton bomb. Mahoney jabs Grimes several times but misses a right hand. Mahoney plants Grimes with a spine buster for a near fall. Mahoney heads to the top rope and hits a frog splash for a near fall. Mahoney goes to the top rope and Grimes cuts him off. Grimes takes Mahoney off the top with a superplex for a near fall. Mahoney clotheslines Grimes and delivers a super kick. Mahoney grabs a steel chair and whacks Grimes over the head with it for the win. (1/2*. This is exactly what you’d expect it to be. I think this has been the longest match on the show, which is insane.)

Sixth Contest: ECW Tag Team Champions Justin Credible & Lance Storm vs. Chris Chetti & Nova: Storm and Nova start off the title match. Nova controls Storm with a headlock but Storm counters with one of his own. Storm comes off the ropes with a shoulder block and uppercuts Nova. Storm works over Nova with a right hand in the corner. Nova back elbows Storm and puts him over the middle rope followed by a dropkick. Chetti gets tagged in and hip toss Storm followed by an elbow drop/splash combo. Credible gets tagged in and Chetti hammers away on him sending Credible into the corner where he does a flip. Credible comes out of the corner and is met with a double side Russian leg sweep for a near fall. Nova tags in and soon runs into a super kick from Storm. Credible plays to the crowd as Storm works over Nova over the middle rope. Credible jabs Nova a few times dropping him with a right hand. Credible dropkicks a seated Nova for a near fall. Credible keeps Nova on the mat with a sleeper hold but Nova fights out of the hold. Nova sunset flips Credible for a near fall but Credible clotheslines Nova. Credible gets a steel chair from Jason and hammers away on Nova. Nova completely botches a DDT smashing Credible’s face onto the chair. Credible misses a baseball slide and hits the ring post. Storm and Chetti get hot tags with Chetti hitting a scissors kick. Chetti spin kicks Credible but Storm punches Chetti to get control. Storm gets kicked by Chetti and Nova for a near fall. Chetti goes for a baseball slide and gets a two count after Nova super kicks Credible. Dawn Marie gets in the ring but she gets attacked by Jazz in the ring. Jazz puts a Crossface on Jason! Nova gets knee lifted by Credible but manages to rollup Storm for a two count. Credible whacks Nova with a kendo kick and Storm nearly wins. Chetti gets crotched off the top and the champs hit a spike piledriver for the win. (**. This was a better effort than the other matches on the show to this point. These two teams seem to work pretty well with each other and I think the Impact Players are a really underrated tag team looking back on things.)

Seventh Contest: ECW World Champion Mike Awesome vs. Spanish Angel: Angel decides it’s a good idea to shove Awesome and is met with right hands. Awesome shoulder blocks Angel and tosses him over with an overhead belly to belly suplex. Awesome splashes Angel in the corner and connects with a big splash off the ropes for a near fall. Awesome sends Angel into the railing and he flips into the crowd. Awesome springboards off the railing to clothesline Angel in the crowd. DeVito whacks Awesome over the back with a chair a few times and helps out Angel by attacking Awesome with right hands. Awesome avoids a chair shot in the ring and gets a chair kicked into his face by Angel. Angel runs over Awesome with a chair shot out of the corner. Angel kicks Awesome to the mat and DeVito continues to cheap shot him from the floor. Angel comes off the ropes with a shoulder block for a near fall. Angel takes Awesome over with a side suplex. Awesome takes Angel over with a release German suplex. Angel fights back with a kick to the back of Awesome’s head. Awesome plants Angel with a double leg slam and knocks DeVito off the apron to clothesline Angel. Awesome comes off the top to hit a big splash but Angel kicks out at two. Awesome signals for the table on the floor and it’s brought into the ring. Awesome gets double teamed by Angel and DeVito but the miss a double clothesline and they get speared. Awesome puts Angel through the table with a power bomb for the win. (*. I mean, this probably went way too long. Awesome should have just beaten Angel in less than five minutes and in dominating fashion.)

A girl in the front row showed her boobs for the crowd. Where was she earlier in the evening when Raven was trying to get a girl to show her boobs and she wouldn’t do it? Steve Corino comes out and tells the girl that she is a whore and she should be ashamed of herself. Corino wants to have a bullrope match but Dreamer comes out and attacks him with the rope. Tajiri comes out and attacks Dreamer from behind.

Eighth Contest: Tommy Dreamer vs. Tajiri: Tajiri beats on Dreamer and spits his mist into the air before choking Dreamer with the bullrope. Tajiri dropkicks Dreamer on the floor and grabs a steel chair sliding it into the ring. Tajiri kicks Dreamer’s face that was on the chair. Tajiri jabs Dreamer in the groin with the chair. Tajiri kicks Dreamer in the head and kicks Dreamer against the ropes. Tajiri works over Dreamer with a few chops. Tajiri tries for a handspring but Dreamer counters with a side Russian leg sweep. Tajiri kicks a charging Dreamer in the corner. Tajiri puts Dreamer in the tree of woe putting a chair in the corner. Tajiri misses a baseball slide and hits the ring post groin first. Dreamer puts Tajiri in the tree of woe and has a steel chair. Dreamer dropkicks the chair into Tajiri’s face! Dreamer pulls Corino into the ring with the rope and punches Corino in the groin. Dreamer puts a table into the ring. Dreamer puts Corino on the top rope and goes to the middle rope. Tajiri stands on the table to spit mist into Dreamer’s eyes. Tajiri goes to the top rope and double stomps Dreamer through the table for the win. (*. Jeesh, what is with the matches being so short? This was hardly a match and most of the heat was probably on Corino.)

Main Event: ECW Television Champion Super Crazy vs. Rhino: Crazy hip tosses Rhino and is clotheslined after missing a springboard moonsault. Rhino sets up a table in the corner but Crazy comes back with a springboard dropkick and hits a springboard cross body for a near fall. Rhino lifts Crazy into the air and drops him down to the canvas. Rhino charges towards Crazy but gets met with a dropkick to the knee. Crazy is nailed by Rhino with a short arm clothesline. Rhino drops Crazy throat first across the top rope. Rhino covers Crazy for a near fall. Rhino keeps Crazy on the mat with a sleeper hold. Rhino continues to work over Crazy with right hands and boots. Crazy tries to fight back but Rhino cuts him off. Crazy knocks Rhino down from the apron to hit a springboard moonsault for a near fall. Rhino puts Crazy through a table setup in the corner with a GORE! Rhino has the cover but Crazy kicks out at two. Crazy gets a sleeper hold on Rhino and switches to a rollup for a near fall. Rhino power bombs Crazy for a near fall. Rhino gets another table and puts Crazy on the top turnbuckle. Crazy takes Rhino off the top with a sunset flip power bomb through the table for the win! (*1/2. Yet another quick match, but it was enjoyable as they did quite a bit here. I just wish it was longer and meant more.)

Final Thoughts:
Well, the matches went by really quickly since they were all basically under ten minutes. The crowd seemed to not be overly invested in the action especially towards the end of the show. If you like ECW and enjoy short matches, then this is a good show for you. I suppose if you don’t want to see great matches and settle for short matches with little substance then this show is for you. I can’t recommend it.

Thanks for reading.
