1.) Boo Bradley defeated George South
2.) SMW Beat The Champ TV Champion Bobby Blaze defeated Al Snow by disqualification to retain the title
1.) It is kind of bizarre that they would promote the closing moments of a recent cage match between Morton and Snow as being a must-see part of the show this week when they showed what happened last week.
2.) SMW Heavyweight Champion Buddy Landell cut a promo backstage saying he beat Steve Armstrong cleanly last week. He’ll be wrestling Steve again in Charlotte.
3.) Steve Armstrong cuts a promo about his match with Buddy Landell in Charlotte. Steve is going to prove Landell is a punk and make Landell submit to his own hold. Steve says he is in the best shape of his life and he’s going to get even in Charlotte.
4.) We see footage of a double chain match that took place between the Gangstas and THUGS. White Boy got the pin on Mustafa after D’Lo Brown missed a splash off the top. That led to White Boy getting beaten up by the Gangstas and Tracy Smothers got hung over the top rope. The Gangstas cut a promo saying that they said they were coming and they became unchained like their ancestors. They are first now and they are going to get them. Their mission is to get rid of the THUGS.
5.) The THUGS cut a promo saying the next time they see the Gangstas it will be a street fight in Charlotte. White Boy wants to have a stretcher match with the Gangstas to settle their issues. Tracy Smothers notes that he has had thirteen concussions and several other injuries. Smothers wants a stretcher match too.
6.) Footage of the cage match between Ricky Morton and Al Snow is shown. Robert Gibson and Unabomb are handcuffed at ringside. It’s basically the same footage from the previous week and concludes with Unabomb tearing through the bottom of the ring to attack Morton.
7.) Ricky Morton shared some pre-tape comments regarding their match with Al Snow and Unabomb in Charlotte. Morton says they are stepping into a cage for the tag titles and everything is on the line.
8.) Bobby Blaze is challenging Dan Severn for the NWA World Championship. He’s going to go through Al Snow and then win the NWA World Championship. He’s the upset kid in SMW.
9.) Snow controls Blaze with a hammerlock but that doesn’t last long as Blaze gets control of the arm. Snow slams Blaze to the canvas but gets taken down and Blaze controls the left arm. Blaze slaps Snow and Al delivers one of his own. They trade some mat wrestling holds but that doesn’t last either. Blaze kicks Snow and nearly wins. Snow stops Blaze with a clothesline on the floor. Snow drops Blaze across the top rope and hit a springboard leg drop knocking Blaze off the top rope nearly getting a three count. Snow connects with a standing moonsault for another two count. Snow works over Blaze with a few kicks but Blaze comes back with a German suplex for a near fall. Blaze comes off the ropes hitting a swinging neck breaker. Blaze backdrops Snow out of the corner and delivers a flurry of strikes followed by a clothesline for a two count. Blaze hits a northern lights suplex but Unabomb gets involved to cause the disqualification. (**1/4. It’s a solid match with both guys working rather well. Snow’s offense makes it harder for me to hate the guy. However, he’s a great heel in SMW. I never would have thought Snow wouldn’t have caught on quickly in WWF when he eventually jumps to the promotion in the fall/winter.)
10.) Al Snow and Unabomb cut a promo about their upcoming match with Rock N’ Roll in Charlotte. Snow wants Ricky Morton to remember what happened last time they were in a cage. Snow says this isn’t 1985 and that the Rock N’ Roll will be lucky to get out of the cage alive.
I’m interested in the Thugs/Gangstas street fight and the tag title cage match taking place in Charlotte. The SMW Championship has taken a backseat but luckily the undercard has been strong enough to make up for it. They need a strong face character, and likely a new wrestler, to come in and challenge Landell.
Thanks for reading.
