World Championship Wrestling presents Main Event
Date: 4/17/1994
From: Macon, GA

Matches:
1.) Sting, Brian Pillman & Dustin Rhodes defeated WCW United States Champion Steve Austin, WCW Television Champion Lord Steven Regal & The Mongolian Mauler

Angle Developments/Notes:
1.) Austin and Regal try to get the cheap advantage with Austin being backdropped and dropkicked by Rhodes. Regal is met with a double elbow from Sting and Pillman. Mauler just stood on the apron while that took place. Regal controls Sting with a headlock for a moment but is met with a backdrop by Sting. Regal bails to the floor to regroup. Regal backs Sting into the corner to deliver a few uppercuts. Mauler enters to beat on Sting with strikes. Mauler comes off the ropes and delivers a knee drop. Mauler scratches Sting a few times and continues with chops in the corner. Austin tags in and beats on Sting before running into a boot. Rhodes enters the ring and tries for a monkey flip, but Austin blocks it and clotheslines Rhodes to the floor. Mauler slams Rhodes on the floor and gets a few stomps in. Austin drops Rhodes throat first over the top rope and knee drops Rhodes.

Regal enters and keeps control on Rhodes with a boot to the ribs. Regal hooks Rhodes for a butterfly suplex and hits it for a two count. Mauler tags into the match and continues to beat on Rhodes in the corner. Rhodes fights back with strikes until Austin returns to the match and prevents a tag. Austin nearly keeps Rhodes down long enough on a pin attempt. Austin keeps a sleeper on Rhodes. Austin hammers away on Rhodes in the corner. Rhodes stops Austin with a jawbreaker. Pillman and Mauler are tagged in with Pillman cleaning house. Sting enters to help out as control has been lost. Austin bails to the floor as Sting hits a Stinger Splash on Mauler. Sting press slams Pillman onto Mauler to win the match. (*1/2. I was going to be shocked if Mauler didn’t take the pin loss here. The action was extremely basic and nothing out of the norm. Apparently Vader and Rude were suppose to be in this instead of Mauler and Regal and that would have been a huge match for Main Event.)

Final Thoughts:
The feature match has some strong name power, but the action isn’t great and they didn’t get a lot of time to develop the match.
