World Championship Wrestling presents Saturday Night
From: Gainesville, GA
1.) Public Enemy defeated Villano IV & JL
2.) WCW Television Champion Ultimo Dragon defeated Juventud Guerrera to retain the title
3.) Steiner Brothers defeated Power Company
4.) Mortis defeated Mark Starr
5.) Lex Luger defeated Meng
1.) Luger runs over Meng with a shoulder block to start the match. Meng catches Luger on a cross body attempt and hits a back breaker to keep Luger on the canvas. Meng sends Luger into the corner a few times to weaken his back. Meng works over Luger with several strikes but it’s really just basic offense. Meng hits an atomic drop and locks in a bear hug. Meng stops Luger with a knee lift after Lex got a few right hands in. Luger tries to knock Meng down with a clothesline but settles for a leaping forearm strike. Luger drops Meng with a running clothesline with his left arm but misses an elbow drop. Meng misses a standing senton splash. Meng attempts a slam but Luger counters and gets the Torture Rack locked in to win the match. (DUD. Yeah, that was an awful singles match and predictable from the get-go.)
2.) Lee Marshall is in the ring to interview Lex Luger. Marshall says that Luger must be frustrated that Hogan hasn’t agreed to a WCW World Title match yet. Luger says it is frustrating but he is on a mission to get the WCW World Heavyweight Championship. He will go through every member in the New World Order in order to get the belt.
Obviously the show is basically just promotion of Luger as a challenger for Hogan. You’d think Dragon/Guerrera would be fantastic but they only got two minutes of time there and wasn’t worth a review of. Hey, at least Public Enemy put someone through a table?
Thanks for reading.
