World Championship Wrestling presents Saturday Night
From: Auburn Hill, MI
1.) Van Hammer defeated Dave Burkhead
2.) The Barbarian defeated Al Green
3.) Kaos defeated La Parka
4.) WCW Cruiserweight Champion Rey Mysterio Jr. defeated Barry Windham by disqualification
5.) Curt Hennig & Bobby Duncum Jr. defeated Bobby Blaze & Lenny Lane
1.) Kaos takes Parka over with a fireman’s carry and Parka goes to the corner. Kaos arm drags Parka but Parka gets control with a few strikes in the corner. Kaos plants Parka with a powerslam for a two count. Kaos hits a belly to belly suplex. Parka clotheslines Kaos in the corner and taunts the crowd. Parka goes to the top rope to hit a missile dropkick for a near fall. Parka goes to the top missing a corkscrew splash. Kaos drops Parka with a clothesline and a shoulder strike. Kaos plays to the crowd before hitting a springboard clothesline for the win. (*. Not much of a match, for the most part. Kaos has a good look and personality. With some seasoning Kaos could become a bigger deal in WCW, if given a real chance.)
2.) Kendall Windham and Brad Armstrong are at ringside for Rey Mysterio/Barry Windham match. Windham tries to get the advantage, but Mysterio delivers a few dropkicks to Windham’s bad left knee and hits a springboard leg drop off the top for a two count. Windham stops Mysterio in the corner but Rey wiggles free and sends Windham chest first into the corner. Mysterio comes off the top to hit a bulldog! Mysterio tries for the bronco buster, but Windham moves out of the way. Windham decks Mysterio with a right hand. Windham crotches Mysterio over the top rope. Windham misses a splash in the corner. Mysterio hits a top rope head scissors and gets tripped by Kendall Windham. That leads to all four men brawling in the ring and the match is thrown out. Bobby Duncum Jr. and Curt Hennig enter the ring to beat down the good guys. Konnan and SWOLL come out with Chase Tatum to make the save. (*1/2. The action was solid enough and Windham allowed Mysterio to look good against him, as he should. Can’t say I’m surprised with the interference.)
3.) Hennig and Lane start with Hennig delivering a slap and a knee lift to send Lane to the floor. Duncum gets a few shots in on the floor before Lane tags in Blaze. Duncum boots Blaze from the apron and tags into the match. Blaze gets sent into the corner and Duncum delivers a big boot. Hennig works over Lane in the corner withj chops. Hennig delivers a rolling neck snap. Duncum clotheslines Lane followed by a leg drop for a two count. Duncum drives Lane down with a shoulder breaker for a near fall. Hennig drops Lane throat first over the top rope from the apron. Duncum chokes Lane with his bullrope in the corner. Duncum delivers a running boot to Lane’s midsection. Hennig continues to choke Lane in the corner with the rope. Hennig stomps Lane several times in the corner. Lane tags in Blaze but Hennig quickly cuts him off. Lodi comes out and pulls Lane out of the ring to leave Blaze by himself. Hennig finishes Blaze off with a fisherman suplex. (*. Just seemed like an odd angle to have Lane bail on Blaze for the heels to win the match. I’m not sure why this went on last, actually.)
This week was a rather weak episode for the most part. There’s nothing to see here, folks.
Thanks for reading.
