World Championship Wrestling presents Saturday Night
Date: 7/24/1999
From:

Matches:
1.) Eddie Guerrero defeated Adrian Byrd
2.) Jim Duggan defeated Barry Darsow
3.) Brian Knobbs defeated Fit Finlay
4.) Billy Kidman defeated Juventud Guerrera

Angle Developments/Notes:
1.) Mike Tenay interviewed Lord Steven Regal, Dave Taylor and Fit Finlay. Finlay still doesn’t have possession of his hardcore trophy. Tenay asks Regal and Taylor where they were last week on Nitro. Regal was told that he wasn’t needed at Nitro and thinks that Jimmy Hart caused that. Fit Finlay will be in action at Road Wild for a chance to fight a member of the First Family to get his trophy back. Finlay is going to destroy the First Family one by one.

2.) Finlay attacks Knobbs before the bell and Jimmy Hart runs backstage with the trophy. Knobbs clotheslines Finlay coming out of the corner. Knobbs splashes Finlay in the corner. Dave Taylor comes in from behind and jabs Knobbs with a flag. Regal is there too and they attack Knobbs. Knobbs is taken over with a double suplex. Finlay goes under the ring to grab a table. Finlay sets the table up in the corner. Knobbs gets sent through the table in the corner. The First Family slide into the ring to make the save, but Finlay, Regal and Taylor bail through the crowd. (NR. This segment felt a little confusing. Are Finlay, Regal and Taylor the heels or faces in this feud? I think this is an example of a heel vs. heel feud. I was interested in this match and it seemed like it was going fairly well until it got the typical interference.)

3.) Kidman and Guerrera trade a few strikes early on. Kidman takes Guerrera down with a belly to belly suplex. Kidman dropkicks Guerrera to the floor. Guerrera thinks about going backstage, but returns to the match. Kidman tries for a suplex into the ring, but Guerrera drops Kidman throat first over the top rope. Guerrera hits a missile dropkick to send Kidman to the floor. Guerrera hits a slingshot crossbody to the floor. Guerrera misses a splash in the corner but head scissors Kidman for a two count. Guerrera gets in the referees face while taunting the crowd on the middle rope. Guerrera slams Kidman to the mat before going to the top rope. Guerrera misses a splash as Kidman got his feet up. Guerrera yanks Kidman down to the mat by his hair and goes to the top rope. Guerrera looks for a crossbody, but Kidman dropkicks Guerrera in midair. Kidman plants Guerrera with a sit out powerbomb for a two count. Guerrera spikes Kidman with the Juvi Driver! Guerrera drags Kidman to the corner and goes to the top rope but Kidman crotches Juvi. Kidman goes to the top and hits the shooting star press for the win. (**1/4. A decent match between these two, as is usually the case. For Saturday Night, it was a pleasant viewing experience as they do work well with each other. They’ve worked each other a million times, so it’s nothing out of the norm for them.)

Final Thoughts:
It feels weird to say that I was interested in the Finlay/Knobbs match and that I got annoyed by the lack of match. An easy hour of TV this week with Kidman/Juvi delivering their usual match.

Thanks for reading.
