5.) WCW World Tag Team Champions Ricky Steamboat & Shane Douglas, and Rock N’ Roll Express fought Steve Austin, Brian Pillman & SMW Tag Team Champions The Heavenly Bodies to a double disqualification

Angle Developments/Notes
1.) Vinnie Vegas is interviewed following his victory. Vegas says he made a phone call to a psychic hotline. Vinnie thinks that Hammer is going to be here pretty soon and sure enough here comes Hammer. Hammer is beating up two guys as he comes out. Hammer is pissed that Vegas has been saying he was ducking him when he was out with injury. Hammer tells Vegas to never send him people to see him ever again. Hammer gets in the ring and wants a piece of Vegas. Vegas decides against getting in the ring for a left arm wrestling contest.

2.) We see footage from the Omni where Brian Pillman chop blocked Shane Douglas’ left knee. Looks like we are getting an injury storyline for that feud.

3.) Pillman and Steamboat kick off the main event. Pillman gets the upper hand following a back elbow and chop in the corner. Steamboat battles back with shoulder blocks and chops Austin off the apron. Steamboat hits a top rope overhand chop on Pillman for a two count. Douglas hits a slingshot big splash from the apron for a near fall. Brian sends Douglas into a right hand from Austin, who tags in and continues to work over Douglas with strikes. Douglas stops Austin with an atomic drop and gets out of a leg lock attempt and controls the arm of Austin. Austin works over Douglas in the corner with right hands but Douglas gets out of the corner with a flurry of right hands. Lane tags in and Morton enters to hammer away on his arch rival.

Lane knee lifts Morton and tags in Pritchard who is taken down with an arm drag. Pritchard hammers away on Morton in the corner, but Morton battles back with right hands. Morton atomic drops Tom into Stan Lane. Gibson gets the tag and drops Pritchard with a knee lift. Lane tags back into the match but is shoulder blocked. Gibson hip tosses Lane and drops Lane with a kick to the head. Steamboat gets tagged in and hits another top rope overhand chop on Lane. Lane nails Steamboat with a clothesline but Ricky takes Pillman down with a drop toe hold as we go to commercial.

Gibson is sent to the floor where Cornette nails him in the throat with his tennis racket. Pillman continues to work over Gibson in the corner with strikes and Gibson misses a spear hitting the ring post instead. Lane comes off the middle rope to punch Gibson to the mat. Lane drops Gibson throat first across the top rope and follows up with a clothesline. Pritchard drops an elbow on Gibson after a drop toe hold by Lane. Pritchard drives Gibson to the canvas with a vertical suplex and here comes Austin to continue the control of Gibson with a scoop slam. Pritchard tags back in and punches Morton on the apron, who tries to get involved but Gibson is double teamed. Steamboat and Douglas start brawling on the floor with Austin and Lane. Pillman scoop slams Gibson but misses a middle rope splash as Gibson got his knees up. Gibson knee lifts Austin in the corner but still can’t make a tag to his partners.

Pritchard enters again and continues to work over Gibson. Lane enters to double team Gibson and they choke Gibson briefly. Gibson kicks Lane to the canvas and finally tags in Steamboat, who cleans house with overhand chops. Everyone gets in the ring and starts to brawl with the referee losing control of the match. Lane gets the tennis racket as the referee calls for the bell but Gibson has the racket and the heels runaway. (***1/2. I really enjoyed that match as the fans were heavily into everyone and the Smoky Mountain guys got some really good reactions. The aftermath was also rather explosive and served its purpose.)

4.) Van Hammer wants Vinnie Vegas in the ring to have an arm wrestling contest, but Vegas doesn’t appear.

Final Thoughts:
Another good show for WCW Worldwide as the main event delivered constant action and everyone looked very good in their roles. These type of matches would realistically give the SMW guys creditability moving forward, I would think.

Thanks for reading.
