Angle Developments/Notes:
1.) Before the opening contest, footage of Barry Horowitz and Hakushi talking about America is shown. Horowitz is trying to explain the difference between America and Hakushi.
2.) Hakushi and Skip kick off the tag team match. Actually, Horowitz tags in and so does Radford. Barry comes off the ropes with a shoulder block but Radford hip tosses Horowitz. Horowitz kicks Radford away and arm drags Rad. Rad drops Horowitz with a right hand and Skip tags in but Barry hip tosses Skip and drives Barry face first into the canvas. Barry pummels Skip with a few right hands and pats himself on the back. Radford knee lifts Horowitz from the apron and Skip decks Barry to keep control of the match. Skip takes Barry over with a snap suplex and Radford tags in to double team Barry for a moment. Barry nearly wins with a sunset flip, but Radford regains control with a butterfly suplex managing a two count. Radford continues his offense with a rolling neck snap as the show goes to commercial.
Skip drives Horowitz down with a gut wrench suplex and mocks Barry by pretending to reach for a tag. Radford illegally enters and hits a spine buster on Skip. Dean Douglas has made his way out to ringside to watch the match. Skip hits a leg drop but only gets a near fall. Skip rams Barry into Rad’s boot on the apron. Rad prevents Barry from tagging in Hakushi. Skip takes Barry over with a power slam for a two count. Rad tags in Skip and launches him off the top but Barry avoids a splash. Hakushi gets tagged in and cleans house on Skip with strikes. Hakushi clotheslines Skip in the corner and Radford accidentally does the same. Hakushi handspring elbows both men. Hakushi puts Skip on the top turnbuckle and Barry goes to the middle rope to hit a double superplex! Barry hits a leg drop but Radford gets in the ring to distract the referee. Rad comes off the middle rope to hit a forearm drop on Horowitz. Hakushi comes off the top to splash Skip and both men are laid out! Horowitz gets an arm over Skip and wins the match. (**1/4. A decent tag match and the push for Horowitz had gone on far longer than I ever thought it would go. Skip is a great worker and deserves better than this, really. Regardless, a fine tag match.)
3.) Ahmed Johnson shares some thoughts about competition. Johnson says that competition is growing up in the hood where people said you’d just be a thug. Competition is surviving in the NFL. The greatest competition and challenge is entering the WWF. Ahmed has survived every competition and he accepts the WWF’s challenge. Bring on the competition.
4.) Dean Douglas hosts the Report Card and the word this week is luck. Which, is not an attribute to someones skill. Douglas says that Barry Horowitz and Shawn Michaels have both been riding luck. Douglas challenges Barry Horowitz to a match for next week.
5.) Fatu starts the match hammering away on Smith with right hands. Fatu backdrops Smith to keep the momentum. Fatu clotheslines Smith in the corner and plays to the crowd. Fatu continues with a back breaker but Smith powers out at two. Jim Cornette provides a distraction on the floor grabbing Fatu’s foot. Fatu stalks towards Cornette but Smith tries to come up from behind but Fatu decks him with a right hand. Fatu goes to the middle rope and connects with a diving head butt for a two count. Fatu slams Smith and gets distracted again by Cornette. Smith gets the cheap advantage with a running clothesline. Smith sends Fatu face first into the ring steps. Smith rams Fatu face first into the ring steps and rolls back into the ring to taunt the fans by posing. Smith hooks Fatu up for a delayed vertical suplex and drives Fatu down to the canvas. Smith comes out of the corner and hits a leg drop. Smith punches Fatu a few more times as the show goes to commercial…
Smith has kept control of the match controlling Fatu with a sleeper hold on the canvas. Fatu elbows his way out of a headlock and runs into a knee lift. Smith comes off the ropes to deliver an elbow drop for a near fall. Smith keeps Fatu on the canvas with a nerve hold. Smith counters a backdrop attempt with a DDT but Fatu no sells it. Smith turns around and is met with a super kick. Fatu goes for the cover and gets a two count. Fatu drives Smith down with a back breaker for a near fall. Fatu runs out of the corner with Smith to hit a running ace crusher. Fatu plays to the crowd and heads to the top rope. Fatu leaps off and hit a diving head butt. Fatu goes for the cover but Smith gets his boot on the bottom rope. Smith crotches Fatu over the top rope and dumps Fatu to the floor. Smith leaps off the apron to hit an awkward looking head butt of his own. Fatu rolls back into the ring and Smith comes off the middle rope to knee drop Fatu. Smith lifts Fatu up and hits a running power slam for the win. (**1/2. This was far more competitive and entertaining than it really should have been. Smith, who just turned heel, probably should have had a more decisive victory over Fatu. Fatu is a solid wrestler, but has no sense of direction or hype. If Smith has a struggle against Fatu, what would we expect against Diesel or Bret Hart? A good match to finish the show, though.)
Final Thoughts:
A rather entertaining show this week with some entertaining action.
