World Wrestling Entertainment & Extreme Champion Wrestling present ECW on Sci-Fi
Date:
7/11/2006
From: Minneapolis, MN

Paul Heyman starts the show in the ring and has the riot squad with him. Heyman announces that he is suspending Rob Van Dam for thirty days. The reasoning of the suspension is that Heyman is teaching RVD how to slow down, but the fans also went along and pushed him. Heyman is going to bring ECW to the promise land and his name will forever be associated with ECW!

Backstage, Tommy Dreamer tells that Heyman that the ECW wrestlers have always stood by Heyman. Heyman doesn’t explain anything to Dreamer and walked away.

Opening Contest: Tommy Dreamer vs. Test: Dreamer is wrestling in street clothes. Test decides to slap Dreamer a couple of times and Dreamer fights back with a series of rights and clotheslines Test over the top to the floor. Test rams Dreamer into the ring post back first. Test focuses on the back with a back breaker and a bear hug. Tommy fights back with a swinging neckbreaker and a traditional neckbreaker. Test counters a DDT attempt with a full nelson slam. Test misses a top rope elbow drop. Test counters a death valley driver and rolls Tommy up with his feet on the ropes to win the match. (*. Test had some good aggression showing in the match, but the action wasn’t good. Test is getting a decent sized push in ECW it looks like.)

Backstage, we almost see Kelly Kelly and Candice Michelle make out.

A vignette airs seeing Shelley Martinez do a tarot card reading only to have her neck bitten by the Vampire, Kevin Thorn.

Mike Knox interrupts the Kelly Expose as his girlfriend was taking her clothes off with Candice. The Sandman comes out and beats Knox up with a cane for doing so.

A vignette promoting CM Punk airs. Punk says his tattoos are declarations and not decorations.

Second Contest: Sabu vs. Justin Credible: Sabu tosses Credible down and gets a near fall after a springboard side kick. Credible gets a table on the floor but Sabu takes him out with a somersault dive and back in the ring hits a somersault leg drop from the apron back into the ring. Sabu places Credible on the table and jumps off the apron to his a leg drop through the table. That causes the disqualification giving Credible the win, but Sabu’s music plays because he is the star of the brand.

Balls Mahoney cuts a promo about being an ECW original.

Backstage, Ric Flair says he is going to chase down his 17th World Championship at the expense of the Big Show. He wants Mick Foley to grow some balls and wants a match with Foley under any rules. Flair has no compassion or any heart and he will eat Show alive tonight.

A vignette airs promoting the debut of Shannon Moore to ECW.

Main Event: ECW World Champion the Big Show vs. Ric Flair in an Extreme Rules match: Flair works over Show with strikes in the corner but the champ shoves Flair away to hit a gorilla press slam. Flair is busted open thanks to head butts and right hands. After a few chops Flair flops down to the canvas. Show tosses Flair out of the corner and clotheslines him to the floor. Ric goes under the ring to get a trash can and there appears to be a barbed wire 2×4 in there. Show drives Flair down to the canvas with a vertical suplex. Show follows up with a power slam. Flair low blows the champ four times. Flair grabs the trash can and it’s a baseball bat wrapped in barbed wire. Flair hits Show twice with the bat and slices Show on the forehead with it. Show is busted wide open as well. Flair has the trash can and nails Show with it a few times. Flair uses a chair on Show and Show finally drops to the mat. Show powers out of a pin attempt at two. Flair dumps tacks on the mat and uses the chair on Show again. Show absorbs unprotected chair shots and falls onto the tacks. Show is pissed off and choke slams Flair. Show hits a cobra clutch backbreaker and keeps a cobra clutch on Flair to win the match. (**. Honestly, not a great match, but seeing Flair go hardcore was pretty neat. A bloody brawl to show what ECW was all about.) After the match, Show tosses Flair into the tacks.

Final Thoughts:
An average episode at best as the main event is the strong segment of the show. If you like the idea of Flair using a barbed wire baseball bat, check out the main event.

Thanks for reading.
