Written by: Bob Colling

World Wrestling Federation presents Superstars
Date:
2/6/1993
From: San Antonio, TX

Matches:
1.) The Nasty Boys defeated Dave Silguero & Robert Taylor
2.) Bam-Bam Bigelow defeated Rudi Flores
3.) Doink the Clown defeated Reno Riggins
4.) Jim Duggan defeated Yokozuna
5.) The Beverly Brothers defeated Peter Christie & Bob East

Angle Developments/Notes:

1. Vince McMahon, Randy Savage and Jerry Lawler talk about the Duggan vs. Yokozuna match. Savage predicts that Duggan will win the match because Duggan told him he is ready. Lawler obviously chooses Yokozuna to win because he will be the next WWF World Champion.

2. The Nasty Boys continued their winning streak on when Saggs pinned Silguero following a top rope elbow smash. I’m not entirely sure what they are up to as they really haven’t advance their feud with WWF World Tag Team Champions Money Inc.

3. Mean Gene hosted the WWF Update segment. We get comments from Giant Gonzalez and Harvey Wippleman. Harvey says that the Undertaker ruined what Kamala was and now Giant Gonzalez is going to ruin the Undertaker. Gonzalez chimes in saying that it will be the Undertaker’s funeral when they meet in the ring.

4. Bam-Bam Bigelow continued his winning ways following a diving head butt when he pinned Rudi Flores.

5. Sean Mooney hosts the Event Center where he promotes the February 26th house show. Since Marty Jannetty has been fired, Big Bossman will now challenge WWF Intercontinental Champion Shawn Michaels. Bossman will have Sensational Sherri in his corner. We hear from Paul Bearer and the Undertaker. Bearer asks Mr. Fuji way he would put Yokozuna against the Undertaker. We also hear comments from the Undertaker who says that in order to get to the top, you have to get through him. Mr. Fuji comments saying that the Undertaker will pay at the hands of his Yokozuna.

6. Footage from the Royal Rumble where Bobby Heenan revealed Lex Luger is aired.

7. Doink the Clown laughed his way to victory when he pinned Reno Riggins while having an arm submission hold on his opponent.

8. Jim Duggan shared some last minutes thoughts regarding his match against Yokozuna. Duggan said that he is going to win just like the United Sates troops, tough guy!

9. Duggan ended up backing up his words when he was able to beat Yokozuna. It wasn’t a regular match but rather a “knock down rules” match. Basically, the first person to be knocked off their feet would lose. Yokozuna hasn’t been knocked off his feet yet because he wrestled against 160lbs jobbers. Duggan hit Yokozuna with several clotheslines before Yokozune dropped to the canvas. The victory was short lived, though. After the match, Yokozuna got up and attacked Duggan hitting several Bonsai Drops.

10. To close the show, Sean Mooney hosts the Event Center hyping up the February 26th house show. Mooney tells us that next week we will get an update on how Duggan is doing since the attack by Yokozuna.

Final Thoughts:

The primary angle development for the show was Yokozuna being knocked off his feet. I personally don’t like that Duggan was the guy to do it. Hell, I don’t like Yokozuna being knocked off his feet before the WrestleMania main event against Bret Hart. It shows him as being vulunerable and to a certain extent beatable. Besides, Yokozuna should be rolling through babyfaces who are at a lower mid-card level at this point. If he had just beaten Duggan and done the beat down as well it would have been better in my mind.

Overall, I’ll say it was an enjoyable show just because there was a new angle advancement.

Thanks for reading.
