Written by: Bob Colling

World Wrestling Federation presents Superstars
Date:
8/27/1994
From: Wheeling, WV

Matches:
1.)Jim Neidhart defeated Frank Stalletto
2.)Mabel defeated Barry Horowitz
3.)Duke Droese defeated Jeff Jarrett by count-out
4.)Razor Ramon defeated Mike Collins

Angle Developments/Notes:
1. WWF World Champion Bret Hart comes out to the ring to be interviewed by Vince McMahon to open Superstars this week. Bret never thought he would wrestle his brother Owen inside a steel cage. He says nothing is as dangerous as a steel cage match. Bret says that it’s going to be a real ugly fight and they aren’t rolling around on the ground in the dungeon anymore. There is a lot of emotion around the match and notes that the match has impacted their mother greatly. The issues between them need to be resolved once and for all at SummerSlam. Bret says the best thing about the cage match is that it will prevent Jim Neidhart from getting involved. We are going to find out who the best is, was and ever will be at SummerSlam! As Bret Hart walks up the ramp he is cut off by Jim Neidhart and Owen Hart. Neidhart slaps Bret but they don’t exchange blows. Several referees come out to break up the encounter.

2. Jerry Lawler interviewed Owen Hart and Jim Neidhart after Neidhart’s squash match. Owen says that he knows Bret Hart is terrified for SummerSlam. Owen is confident that Bret’s reign as champion is over. Owen knows he is going to be the WWF World Champion. Owen is excited to be the new WWF World Champion!

3. Jarrett leaps off the apron to attack Droese from behind to get the cheap advantage before the bell sounded. Jarrett delivers a standing dropkick and leaps off the middle rope to hit a double axe handle across Droese’s back. Droese catches Jarrett in midair and scoop slams Jeff before dropping Jarrett with a clothesline. Duke is going to take out the trash, but misses an elbow drop. Droese misses a splash in the corner and rolls Droese up with his feet on the ropes to win the match. Oscar makes his way down to the ring and raps about Jarrett cheating to win the match. A second referee comes down to the ring and convinces the original referee that Jarrett cheated. So, the match is restarted. Jarrett knocks Oscar off the apron and leaves the ring. Mabel comes out from the backstage area and traps Jarrett as Droese was on the other side. Jarrett escapes through the crowd and is counted out. (NR. This wasn’t really a match. But, at least there is at least a reason behind Mabel taking on Jarrett at SummerSlam.)

4. The Heartbreak Hotel with Shawn Michaels closes the show. His guest this week is Ted DiBiase and his Undertaker. Michaels cuts a promo on Razor Ramon first saying that he is going to run circles around Walter Payton at SummerSlam. Shawn brings out DiBiase and the Undertaker to chat about SummerSlam. DiBiase says he has produced the Undertaker while Paul Bearer has produced nothing. Michaels thinks that Bearer is having a hard time bringing back courage. DiBiase doesn’t want to talk about what happened on Kings Court. DiBiase says that his Undertaker is going to destroy whatever Bearer brings to SummerSlam. Michaels doesn’t think Bearer has the guts to confront them. The lights begin to flicker and a gong goes off. Paul Bearer appears on the big screen and says that his Undertaker will destroy DiBiase’s demon. The voice of the real Undertaker is heard and he says that he vowed to never Rest in Peace. The real Undertaker says that the time has come for him to rise once more. So, that means it is time for DiBiase’s Taker to be destroyed once and for all!

Final Thoughts:
A solid edition of Superstars as SummerSlam is just two days away. I liked that they focused on the two major feuds and actually gave the feud between Mabel/Jarrett have a meaning to it and not just be random. A good way to hype up SummerSlam overall, I thought.

Thanks for reading.
