Paige plants Mathews with a reverse DDT and heads to the top hitting a 450 splash for the win. (**. A decent start to the show. I am not familiar with most of the guys involved in the match.)
Derek St. Holmes grabs a microphone and enters the ring to cut a promo. Holmes says the six man tag trophy was not on the line for that match. Holmes talks about winning matches against Tracy Smothers and Eric Priest in open challenges. Holmes issues another challenge and would accept matches against Lou Thez, Kamala and Jimmy Snuka. Instead, it is answered by Danny Daniels.

Daniels double stomps Holmes and takes care of Holmes proteges. Holmes hits a butterfly suplex with a bridge for a two count. Brooks misses a missile dropkick and hits Holmes on accident. Daniels grabs Holmes hitting a piledriver for the win. (**. An enjoyable segment. Holmes comes across as an old school heel and I enjoy his antics. Daniels looked good here, too.) After the match, Daniels calls out Tyler Black. Black gets on the apron, but backs off.
Backstage, AAW Tag Team Champion Krotch is hiding from defending the tag titles. Krotch says his partner said he’d be there, but he’s not and he’s going to get killed. Doering elbows Young and tries for a Death Valley Driver, but his knee gives out. Young spikes Doering with a tornado to pickup the win. (**. Silas has recently turned heel at this point because the fans didn’t wish him well after an injury and didn’t get Myspace comments. Which is such a 2007 reason to be mad at people. There’s nothing overly amazing about this match. If this was on TV it would be a filler TV match to put over Silas heel work.)
Backstage, Eric Priest walks up to Dan Lawrence and says that there’s no JJ Inc. tonight and they are going to be using weapons tonight when they team up.
Backstage, Christian York cuts a promo. York says people have asked why he’s in AAW. It is because AAW has some of the best wrestlers in the world. He’s got to come here and beat the best. York warns that Phil Atlas better bring his A-game because he’ll be in full effect.

Atlas hit a somersault cutter off the middle rope for the win. (**. Atlas was rather sloppy here, but the finishing move was a nice one and ended the match on a good note. York didn’t do much for me here and didn’t come across as a big deal or anything. I can seen Atlas having some potential to breakout, but this wasn’t one of his better showings, I’d guess.)
Phil Atlas is interviewed after his match. Atlas says he’s the only Canadian in AAW, but quickly gets cutoff by some music. Jimmy Jacobs makes his way out to join the segment. Jacobs hits Atlas over the head with his cane and taunt the fans. Jacobs grabs a microphone to cut a promo. Jacobs recalls being fired a few months ago in AAW. Several referees enter the ring to escort Jacobs out of the ring, but Jacobs swings his cane. Jacobs promises to bring his friends and he’s not going lightly.
Earlier in the day, Jay Ryan cuts a promo saying that Marek Brave got lucky last month because of a table. Ryan knows there’s a lot of people who want a title shot, but he’s the only man deserving of holding the title.

Reign kicks McClure on the chest and face several times. The referee steps in as McClure appears knocked out and Reign wins the match. (***. An enjoyable brawl and the finish seemed to be Reign losing his temper and not caring. Of course, I mean that in a kayfabe manner. It sounded as if the crowd was booing Reign at the end. They didn’t go overboard with major spots, but they sprinkled in big spots enough to keep interest. I was a surprised there wasn’t blood shed, but this feels like there’s going to be another match between the two.)

Hollister strikes Mattson and Martini, but is stopped. Hollister tries for a rollup, but Martini stopped it until Benjamin enters and there’s a double rollup for the win. (**. I dig Benjamin and Hollister as a team. Mattson and Martini didn’t do much for me here. Their offense wasn’t all that compelling. This was mostly just an average tag match.)
Earlier today, Dan Lawrence and Ryan Boz were interviewed. Boz says that tonight isn’t going to be match with DP Associates. Boz is pissed about Eric Priest being added. Priest enters the scene and says he didn’t ask for the match. Boz doesn’t trust him. Priest thinks tonight is going to be fun.

Black gets distracted by Danny Daniels on the apron. Brown has gotten up and runs through Black with a spear to pickup the win. (**. The distraction finish is not a surprise here as Black and Daniels continue their heated rivalry. Brown picking up the win is a bit of a surprise, but could be a sign of a push coming for him in AAW.)
Eighth Contest: AAW Tag Team Champion Krotch vs. Phoenix Twins in a handicap match: Krotch is terrified about wrestling a handicap match and hides under the ring. Krotch sidesteps a spear by both Twins. Eastman grabs a weapon, but the referee stops him. Bryce Benjamin nails Tweak with teh baton and shoves Krotch onto Tweak to retain the titles. (*1/2. Hardly much action and mostly a comedy segment of sorts for Krotch to overcome the odds in a fluky manner and with some help from probably the next babyface tag team champion duo.)
Backstage, Tyler Black is pissed and says all things must come to an end. Black accepts the challenge issued by Danny Daniels. Black promises to end Danny’s career.

I was expecting a much wilder match and this followed the rules for the most part. Whitmer didn’t do a whole lot, which was a bit surprising. I thought Priest was going to turn on the team and feud with Boz, but that shockingly didn’t happen either. It was decent, but mostly disappointing.)
A video package promoting the match between AAW Heavyweight Champion Marek Brave and Jerry Lynn is shown. The recap the history of their starting in December 2006. Lynn noted that if he can’t beat Brave two times in one night he’ll never bother him for another title shot.

Lynn spikes Brave with the cradle piledriver to win the match and title. (**1/2. As you’ll soon read below, Lynn turns heel here and I don’t hate it. Lynn seems to be beloved, but he can absolutely play a heel role and I can see it being successful in AAW. The match here was a bit slow and started rather boring. It picked up, but it never got to a level that would make it must-see or anything. I’d consider this a disappointing main event.)
Jerry Lynn says he doesn’t like AAW and doesn’t like the politics. Lynn fakes a handshake and kicks Brave in the face. Lynn cuts a promo saying he didn’t need the fans support. Lynn is going to take whatever he wants and doesn’t care what anyone says. Lynn reveals he’s not in AAW next month and make them wait to see him defend the title.
Final Thoughts:
The show is full of mostly average wrestling with a few matches being a bit of a disappointment. Lynn being a heel is an interesting direction and they are building to a bigger match between Daniels and Black at some point. So, there’s some stuff to be interested in, but the whole action here was not all that great. This show gets a thumbs down from me.
Thanks for reading.
