The current WCW champs were as follows:
WCW World Champion: The Giant (10/29/1995)
WCW U.S. Champion: Sting (6/18/1995)
WCW World Tag Team Champions: Harlem Heat (10/28/1995)
WCW World Television Champion: Johnny B. Badd (10/29/1995)
Your hosts are Eric Bischoff, Bobby Heenan and that Emmy-award winning Steve “Mongo” McMichael.
Eddie Guerrero vs. Sgt. Craig Pittman
So apparently this was supposed to be Randy Savage taking on Pittman instead, but nobody from the A-team of babyfaces are here tonight. Pittman wants to have an amateur takedown contest with Eddie to start. I don’t think he knows that Guerrero is actually quite good at that sort of thing. Eddie takes a couple throws, but he gets the last laugh on Pittman. They turn it into a brawl as Pittman tries to go after the arm. Quick belly-to-belly throw by Pittman gets two. Eddie gets off a NEAT springboard crossbody for two, but then turns around into another belly-to-belly throw for another two-count. Pittman delivers a release Doctor Bomb, but Guerrero surprises him with a torso rollup for 1-2-3. (5:32) Bischoff calls it an upset. I don’t think anybody buys that though. **
Scott Norton vs. Shark
We finally get that Norton/Shark blowoff we’ve been waiting for! Shark beats Norton into the corner and levels him with a belly to belly suplex. Big elbow drop gets two. Norton comes back with clotheslines and slams Shark! That only gets two. Double-KO spot ensues as we pan over to see Bobby Heenan wining and dining Sonny Oono. He just up and left to go hang out with Oono before the match, I suppose. But you see, Oono is so important to New Japan. Yep. Okay back to the match, Norton and Shark battle to the floor and fight all the way to the back for a double-countout. (2:47) Sounds about right. ½*
Back over to Heenan, he explains to Oono all the WCW programming that they offer. “Saturday morning Pro, Saturday night’s Main Event. Wait no, it’s Sunday night’s Main Event, WCW Saturday Night, Monday Nitro…” Apparently Bobby’s not a fan of sushi.
We see stills from Halloween Havoc of the Flair/Sting vs. Arn/Pillman match as Tony Schiavone brings out Ric Flair, Arn Anderson and Brian Pillman. They confirm what Flair said last night after the match. They are one finger away from reforming the Four Horsemen.
Sabu vs. Disco Inferno
Sabu destroys Disco to start with a springboard leg lariat and a springboard dropkick. That gets two. When Heenan’s asked to explain himself, he says he’s just showing a Japanese dignitary a good time. Disco starts throwing Sabu around by his hair and chokes him in the ropes. It won’t be long though until Disco misses a corner charge and takes a somersault slingshot legdrop for the 1-2-3. (2:27) Sabu wants to put Disco through a table, but the table doesn’t break. This turned out to be Sabu’s last match on Nitro before he went back to ECW. *½
Lex Luger & Meng (w/Jimmy Hart & Kevin Sullivan) vs. The American Males
Last night they are fighting each other, tonight they are teaming up together. The Dungeon of Doom must be a wacky place to work! Meng starts kicking some tail on Riggs and we go to commercial. And we’re back! The American Males are working over Luger’s arm. Riggs catches Luger charging him in the corner with a boot and starts to get pretty confident until Meng walks in the ring while the ref is with Bagwell. HART ATTACK to Riggs! Awesome. Luger and Meng begin to tear Riggs apart until Meng misses a somersault splash. Yes, a somersault splash. HOT TAG TO BAGWELL! He goes clothesline crazy on Luger. Jimmy Hart distracts the ref as Riggs dropkicks Bagwell to tumble down on top of Luger. Meng breaks up the cover and wipes out Riggs with a superkick. That leaves Bagwell to be easy pickings for the TORTURE RACK! It’s all over. (6:42) The American Males were tag team champs like two days ago too! Fun little glorified squash to solidify Luger’s turn. **¼
After the break, we see footage of last night’s main event where the Dungeon of Doom destroyed Hulkamania.
In the ring, Tony Schiavone (no Gene tonight – is he part of the A team too?) meets with the Dungeon of Doom which includes Kevin Sullivan, The Giant (with the WCW world title), Lex Luger and of course Jimmy Hart. Meng no talk. Jimmy Hart says he’ll fill us in as to why he turned on Hulk Hogan next week on Nitro! Sullivan says he spoke of an evil within Hogan’s own household all along. You sure he wasn’t talking about Linda though? Next week, Giant will defend the WCW world title! Next week sounds like it’s going to be a great show, because this one sort of blew.
