night TNA returns to pay per view with their second biggest pay per view of the year, Lockdown. The event will see every match contested inside a steel cage match. Here is the rundown of the card and my predictions for the matches.
Former Partners Collide:
Matt Morgan vs. Crimson
This was one of the most obvious matches to be signed for the event. It’s the simplest of booking to have them split up and proceed to have a feud. Crimson should continue to have his undefeated streak as Morgan really doesn’t have anywhere to go from here.
For the TNA Television Championship:
[champion] Devon vs. Robbie E
I don’t have any interest in this match. There was once a time when a Television Championship meant something, but nowadays it’s just another belt with a scrub wearing it. I see Devon retaining the strap here but he will probably drop it at the next television taping.
For the TNA Knockouts Championship:
[champion] Gail Kim vs. Velvet Sky
Kim has held the championship for a good amount of time and I have a feeling that Sky is going to find a way to win here. Then again, there is still a part of me who finds it hard to believe that Mickie James isn’t going to be the one to dethrone Kim. It makes sense for Sky to win here and I think she walks out the championship.
For the TNA World Tag Team Championships:
[champions] Samoa Joe & Magnus vs. Motor City Machine Guns
This could be the sleeper match of the evening. If given the proper amount of time these four men could produce one hell of a match. I’ve greatly enjoyed what Joe and Magnus have been able to do with the championships and see their run continuing. The Guns should make it a close one and very competitive but the titles stay with Magnus and Joe.
Grudge Match:
Kurt Angle vs. Jeff Hardy
Hardy has to win on pay per view at some point, right? I’ve been surprised by all the jobs he has been doing for TNA recently. Angle is sporting an injury and while he may believe that won’t slow down his ability, it probably will. I’m sure we will see a few crazy spots off the top of the cage in this one too. As for a winner, I’m picking Hardy to actually win on pay per view.
Lethal Lockdown:
Team Eric Bischoff vs. Team Garrett Bischoff
Is there anyone doubt who will win this? The babyfaces almost always win Lethal Lockdown (War Games) and I don’t see why that wouldn’t happen here. I’m sure that Garrett will get the pin fall as they try to get daddy’s boy over as the next top guy in the company.
For the TNA World Heavyweight Championship:
[champion] Bobby Roode vs. James Storm
While I’ve enjoyed Roode’s run with the championship, I feel like this is where it needs to come to an end. Honestly, if Roode were to win this match who could realistically be his next credible challenger? He has beaten Hardy a handful of times, taken care of Sting and would have beaten Storm several times as well. I think Storm superkicks his way to gold.
Those are my predictions for TNA Lockdown tomorrow. For the hundreds of people who order the pay per view, I hope you enjoy it!
