Written by: Bob Colling

World Championship Wrestling presents Worldwide
Date:
2/18/1996
From: Orlando, FL

Matches:
1.) Road Warriors defeated Masked Avenger & The Gambler
2.) Meng & Barbarian defeated Buck Quartermaine & Mike Wenner
3.) Ice Train defeated Manny Fernandez
4.) Men at Work defeated the Barrio Brothers
5.) WCW United States Champion Konnan defeated One Man Gang

Angle Developments/Notes:
1. Mean Gene met up with the Road Warriors backstage for an interview. Animal tells Gene that WCW has the greatest superstars in wrestling and they have come home. Animal doesn’t care who comes their way they are going to prove that they are an unstoppable force. Hawk says they are fully aware that they are missing some pieces in their head. Hawk believes they serve the coldest dish of violence.

2. Backstage, Mean Gene talks to WCW World Tag Team Champions Sting and Lex Luger. Luger is really happy to be champion. Sting tells Gene that they aren’t going to talk about their difference of opinion. Sting tells Gene that he will never change and notices that Luger is flexing quite a bit. Lex believes they have unlimited potential. Lex is going to do whatever it takes to remain on top.

3. Konnan dropkicks Gang on the knee and drop toe holds Gang before hitting a dropkick from off the middle rope. Konnan gets Gang tangled into the ropes and hits a cross body causing them to both crash to the floor. Gang clubs Konnan on the floor but Konnan gets to the top apron and somersaults to kick Gang in the head. Gang regains control with a side slam and a leg drop. Gang knee lifts Konnan and taunts the fans knowing he is in control of the bout. Konnan is able to kick Gang to the canvas and hits a spinning heel kick to Gang’s chest. Gang delivers another leg drop to the back of Konnan’s head. Konnan knocks Gang off his feet with a dropkick but again Gang comes back with a clubbing blow to the back and a scoop slam. Konnan avoids a middle rope splash and Konnan hits a top rope somersault dive to win the match. (*1/2. These two just don’t have very good chemistry for obvious reasons. Konnan tried to work a style that simply doesn’t work with a guy like One Man Gang.)

Final Thoughts:
Well, an average episode this week for Worldwide. Luger is playing the crazy obsessed with championship character very well. It’s pretty obvious it will lead to a heel turn, or it should at least. Konnan/Gang tried to do some fun things but they just didn’t click very well.

Thanks for reading.
