Matches:
1.) Dudley Boys defeated ECW World Tag Team Champions Rob Van Dam & Sabu to win the titles
2.) Jack Victory defeated Tommy Rogers
Angle Developments/Notes:
1.) Dudley Boys attack Balls Mahoney and Masato Tanaka from behind using their chairs against them. RVD and Sabu don’t try to help them out and we get a new title match with the Dudley Boys getting a shot at the champions. Mahoney and Tanaka are bloodied and helped to the backstage area.
2.) All four men are brawling int he ring with the champions getting the early advantage on the Dudley Boys. Sabu leaps off the back of Van Dam to splash Bubba in the corner. Van Dam nails Bubba with a spinning heel kick. Van Dam springboard kicks D-Von and Sabu hits a top rope hurricanrana on Bubba. Van Dam hits a top rope cross body for a near fall on Bubba. Van Dam and Sabu hit a rolling thunder/leg drop combo on D-Von. Sabu springboards off the top to take D-Von out with a dive and Van Dam does the same to Bubba! The champs go to the top and hit splashes on the Dudley Boys but only manage to get near falls on the cover. Van Dam smashes Bubba over the head with a steel chair. Sabu whacks Bubba with another chair and smashes D-Von in the face with another one for a near fall.
Sabu misses a dive to the floor and crashes through a table. The Triple Threat comes out and attacks Sabu with Bigelow hitting the Greetings From Asbury Park! Douglas wrenches on Sabu’s neck but here comes Taz to brawl with the Triple Threat on the floor. Taz is getting triple teamed on the floor. The Dudley Boys enter the ring and hit the 3D on Sabu to win the titles. (**. It was a fine match and would have been greater had they not been trying to advance the six man tag feud going on. Dudley’s are the best option to get the titles off of RVD and Sabu.)
3.) Backstage, Axl Rotten cuts a promo on the Dudley Boys. Rotten is making a few promises for the pay per view. Rotten promises there will be violence and bloodshed at November to Remember. Rotten says that Mahoney and Tanaka are winning the tag titles on pay per view and that is a promise.
4.) Victory starts the match jabbing Rogers several times but runs into a big boot in the corner. Rogers runs over Victory with a clothesline and a back elbow sending Victory to the floor. Rogers goes to the floor and attacks Rod Price before using a chair on Victory. Rogers hammers away on Victory in the corner and plants him with a DDT. Victory stops Tommy with a low blow but is backdropped over the top and through a table at ringside. Rogers leaps off the top rope and takes Victory and Price out with a cross body on the floor. Late in the match, Rogers hits the Un-Prettier but can’t get a three count. Instead, Credible enters and whacks Rogers with a kendo stick and Victory wins following a back suplex. (*. I like Rogers and think he is a good fit in ECW. Victory needed a win since he is part of a top heel group, I guess.) After the match, Rogers is beaten down. Tommy Dreamer runs in and hits both Victory and Price with a DDT. Credible bails to the floor and heads backstage.
5.) ECW World Champion Shane Douglas, Bam-Bam Bigelow, Chris Candido and Francine make their way down to the ring to cut a promo regarding November To Remember. Douglas calls themselves the real and only triple threat. Douglas rips on Taz, RVD and Sabu saying that their titles don’t mean shit and Sabu doesn’t even have one anymore thanks to them. Douglas says he is going to make Taz tap out because he made ECW and that Taz is his bitch!
6.) New Jack is sitting in a dark stairway outside to cut a promo. Jack says that a weapons match between Jack Victory and himself never happened on pay per view because Victory attacked him. Now they will be wrestling in New Orleans. Jack says he is the partner for Tommy Dreamer at November to Remember. Jack enjoys kicking ass until Victory can’t breathe. He wants everyone to show up at the pay per view so he can kick everyones ass. The cameraman tries to warn Jack, but Jack Victory appears from behind and breaks a guitar over New Jack’s head to end the segment.
Final Thoughts:
It’s a strong go-home show for ECW with a big title change and some last minute hype for the six man tag feud. I’ve enjoyed the buildup to the pay per view over the past several weeks.
Thanks for reading.
