Matches:
1.) Cactus Jack, Dean Malenko & 2 Cold Scorpio defeated ECW Television Champion Eddie Guerrero and the Steiner Brothers
2.) Mikey Whipwreck defeated ECW World Champion The Sandman in a non-title Singapore cane match
Angle Developments/Notes:
1.) Bill Alfonso is in Switzerland on vacation talking to fans who like ECW there.
2.) Raven comes out and tells Scorpio that he understands the pain that his people have felt all these years. Raven brings out Cactus Jack to be their partner for the six man tag match. Cactus puts over the Steiner Brothers as the most over tag team he has ever seen. He means they are the most overrated and overpaid. He says that Eddie Guerrero is not a wrestler.
3.) Scott and Malenko kick off the six man tag match with Scott controlling Malenko with a go-behind. Dean takes Scott down with a drop toe hold but Scott shows off his mat wrestling taking Malenko to school on the mat. Scott drops Malenko with a vicious looking clothesline. Scott press slams Malenko and Dean rolls to the floor to regroup. Dean counters a suplex into the ring and is able to suplex Scott over the top to the floor from the apron and baseball slides Scott into the railing. Dean sends Scott back first into the railing before returning to the ring. Malenko dropkicks Scott chest first into the corner but Scott quickly comes back with an overhead belly o belly suplex. Scorpio gets tagged in to try his luck against Scott, but Eddie tags in instead. Eddie arm drags Scorpio several times followed by a dropkick sending Scorpio to the floor where Guerrero hits a slingshot cross body! Eddie spikes Scorpio with a brain buster back in the ring. Rick Steiner tags in and works over Scorpio with some strikes. Scorpio stops Rick with a dropkick and a head scissors which seemed to be botched. Scorpio scoop slams Rick, whip quickly gets to his feet stopping Scorpio on the top hitting a press slam. Rick misses a clothesline and is met with a super kick from Scorpio. Scorpio misses a top rope cross body. Rick goes to the top and connects with a bulldog as Scorpio ran the ropes looking for a belly to belly suplex. That was pretty cool.
Rick tosses Scorpio with a German suplex as Cactus gets the tag into the match. They slug it out until Cactus knocks Rick to the floor where they continue to pummel each other. Jack sense Rick into the railing face first. Rick sends Cactus into the railing before hitting a belly to belly suplex. Rick power slams Scorpio in the ring on a leapfrog attempt. Guerrero hammers away on Cactus until Jack hit an electric chair slam. Guerrero scoop slams Malenko and goes to the top missing the frog splash on Malenko. Malenko connects with a back suplex but Eddie kicks out at two. Dean clotheslines Eddie in the corner and plants Guerrero with a double under hook power bomb for a near fall. Eddie nearly pins Dean with a victory roll. Cactus leg drops Guerrero for a near fall. Guerrero dropkicks Cactus but Jack stops him and rubs his face into the canvas. Scorpio scoop slams Guerrero and Jack comes off the apron to elbow drops Eddie on the floor.
Scorpio hits a twisting leg drop off the top on Guerrero but decides against going for the pin fall. Scorpio continues his offense with a power bomb and plays to the crowd. Eddie blocks a top rope big splash by getting his knees up. Scorpio clotheslines Guerrero but Eddie battles back with a hurricanrana. Rick gets the tag and cleans house with clotheslines. Rick puts Scorpio on the top turnbuckle to hit a belly to belly suplex. Cactus breaks up the pin attempt. Scott hits a double under hook power bomb on Cactus. Eddie goes to the top and hits a clothesline on Scorpio who was on the shoulders of the Steiner Brothers. Cactus is on the shoulders as well but Eddie hits a dropkick. They grab Malenko and Eddie hits a head scissors on him for a two count thanks to Scorpio breaking up the cover. Dean gets out of a brain buster and rolls Guerrero up to get the three count in the middle of the ring. (***1/2. It’s a good match between six great talents of ECW. Parts of it lost me as there wasn’t the one defining fast pace segment that I was looking for. However, it’s a fine 20+ minute TV match.)
4.) Whipwreck takes Sandman down with a hurricanrana, dropkick and a super kick sending Sandman to the floor. Whipwreck hits a springboard dive to take Sandman out against the railing. The match is clipped as Sandman now works over Whipwreck with a chop in the corner. Mikey nearly wins following a dropkick. Mikey has a chair and whacks Sandman over the head with it a few times. Mikey leaps off the top to hit a cross body and pins Sandman! After the match, Woman enters and she is pissed as is Sandman. The referee threatens to strip Sandman of the title if Sandman doesn’t take the lashes. Woman gives the cane to Whipwreck upon that announcement and Sandman doesn’t want to take the lashes. Woman grabs Mikey by the hair to stop the canning. Mikey kisses Woman and is promptly beaten by Sandman. Mikey did get several shots on Sandman, but is laid out by several cane shots. The referee threatens if Mikey is hit one more time than the title will be stripped. Woman stops Sandman from using the cane again to save the championship. Sandman says he isn’t leaving the ring until he canes someone ten times. Here comes Public Enemy and that leads to a brawl.
5.) We see footage of the stretcher match between the Public Enemy and the Gangstas. Sandman attacked Rocco allowing the Gangstas to win the match. Mikey came back out and whacked Sandman several times with the cane to end the show.
Final Thoughts:
Not sure why Cactus was the third guy, but whatever since he wasn’t involved in the finish. Anyway, a lot of angle advancement and a fine six man tag match. ECW TV continues to roll along, folks.
Thanks for reading.
