Angle Developments/Notes:
1.) In case you were wondering, there 8/13 episode of TV was just matches and highlights from Night of Legends. So, we’re back with original programming this week.
2.) Rock N’ Roll Express are interviewed regarding their rematch against Brian Lee and Chris Candido. They haven’t forgotten about the Gangstas either. They guarantee a title win tonight.
3.) The Gangstas helped cause the Rock N’ Roll Express lose the tag titles in the first place. New Jack says that they try to censor him but he doesn’t care. Jack says he knows that they wish he was a watermelon, chicken eating African American. Jack says that the Express are going to see how they did things in the hood.
4.) Chris Jericho and Lance Storm are interviewed regarding Night of Legends. Jericho has a broken arm and says he broke the arm riding is motorcycle. He will be out six to eight weeks but still wrestled the tag match against the Heavenly Bodies. Jericho says they proved they have heart. Lance Storm says that he will be competing in singles matches until Jericho comes back.
5.) Bob Armstrong and Tracy Smothers are interviewed. Smothers talks about beating the Funk’s and Jim Cornette. Armstrong says they will get their hands on Cornette. Armstrong says that he is going to get to Cornette in September.
6.) SMW Heavyweight Champion Dirty White Boy is interviewed following his victory. White Boy talks about beating Dick Slater and Terry Gordy and how nether man was able to defeat him for the championship. White Boy mentions Chris Walker who has been brought in by Jim Cornette. White Boy says that he has open contracts and anybody can come in and sign their name for a title shot.
7.) Jim Cornette, Killer Kyle, Bruiser Bedlam and the Heavenly Bodies are interviewed about Night of Champions. Cornette says that SMW can’t do anything about the Heavenly Bodies talking in SMW. I’m assuming that Chris Walker won’t be competing in SMW since Cornette kind of badmouthed him here saying he couldn’t get the job done. Cornette was using Walker to weaken White Boy for Bruiser Bedlam. Cornette says that if White Boy is the man he says then he will square off against Bedlam for the championship. Cornette wants to know who the new commissioner is but apparently nobody knows the answer to that.
8.) White Boy comes to the ring after Bedlam’s squash win and White Boy hammers away on Bedlam. White Boy drops Bedlam with strikes and bites his forehead. Bedlam stops White Boy with an elbow strike in the corner. Bedlam threatens the referee after choking White Boy. Bedlam clotheslines White Boy and delivers a falling head butt for a near fall. Bedlam misses a diving head butt and White Boy gets a quick win on Bedlam. (1/2*. I mean, it was a quick match and felt like it didn’t need to happen at all. Having Bedlam lose on TV and to the champ so quickly isn’t going to help live event business, I’d imagine.)
9.) Candido has a mask of sorts over his head to hide his shaved head. Morton and Candido start the bout with Morton hammering away on Candido several times. Morton hits a running bulldog for a near fall. Candido misses a clothesline but Morton decks him with one of his own. Gibson gets tagged in and the challengers hit a modified version of the Hart Attack for a two count. Lee and Gibson are the legal men with Lee delivering a shoulder block but Gibson came back with a hip toss. Morton tags in and keeps Lee on the canvas to keep control of the match. Gibson drops Morton with a bulldog and Gibson nearly pins Candido. Lee comes off the middle rope to strike Morton while Candido held Ricky. Lee leaps off the middle rope to hit a knee drop on Morton but only gets a near fall. Lee misses a splash in the corner and Morton tags in Gibson while Candido gets tagged in. Gibson backdrops Lee and hammers away on him in the corner. The Express are sent into each other and stopped by the champions. Candido misses a top rope clothesline hitting Lee on accident. Lee comes off the ropes and is met with a double dropkick giving the Express the win and titles! (*1/2. A basic match between these two teams and this is the end of the Lee/Candido tag team in SMW, I believe.)
10.) Brian Lee, Chris Candido and Tammy Fytch are interviewed. Fytch is pissed at Lee for losing the titles. Fytch says that Lee isn’t listening to her and she doesn’t pay him to think for himself. Lee is defending himself since Candido hit him with a clothesline. Fytch has fired Lee. Lee decides to say he quits. Candido gets in Brian’s face but is shoved away. Lee turns to leave but Candido gets on his back only to be yanked down. Fytch stops Lee with a hairspray to the face. Candido goes on the attack stomping on Lee.
Final Thoughts:
Well, it is the end of Lee and Candido as a unit, which had been one of the more entertaining duos that SMW has had. I disliked the jobbing of Bedlam on the show. The best part of the show is the Gangstas at this point just because they are so vastly different from anything else on the program.
Thanks for reading.
