Extreme Championship Wrestling presents Hardcore TV
Date: 3/28/1999
From: Philadelphia, PA
Matches:
1.) Tajiri defeated Little Guido
2.) Super Crazy defeated Antifaz Del Norte
Angle Developments/Notes:
1.) We see footage from Living Dangerously where the Dudley Boys attacked Sid Vicious. Sid was able to chokeslam both Bubba and D-Von much to the delight of the fans.
2.) Joey Styles promotes Hardcore Heaven taking place on May 16th. That’s the next ECW pay per view. He runs down some of the things that happened at Living Dangerously.
3.) We see footage from the recent ECW Arena that saw a tag match that was between Von Krush/Rod Price taking on Chetti and Nova. Of course, it didn’t take long for Sid Vicious to come out and destroy the four men. Sid chokeslams Price off the apron through a table. Sid plants Nova with a powerbomb, twice. Sid puts Nova on a stretcher and sends Nova into the ring post. Sid grabs Chetti in the ring and connects with a powerbomb. Sid grabs Von Krush and does the same to Von Krush.
4.) Tajiri takes Guido down to the mat but Guido gets arm control. Guido rolls to the floor and Tajiri stands tall in the ring. Guido takes Tajiri down to the mat and slaps the back of his head. Tajiri has wrist control before switching to a cross arm breaker until Guido reaches the ropes. Tajiri delivers a few kicks to Guido’s chest, but Guido gets a headlock on for a brief moment. Gudio tries to counter a suplex, but Tajiri almost wins with a German suplex. Tajiri connects with a kick to the head to maintain control. Guido avoids a powerbomb and counters a hurricanrana with a powerbomb of his own. Guido misses a slingshot crossbody attempt to the floor. Smothers trips Tajiri, but Guido can’t take advantage. Tajiri takes both Guido and Smothers out with a dive over the top to the floor. Tajiri hits a superplex off the middle rope as we go to commercial.
Guido delivers a few chops before getting a two count. Guido continues to stomp Tajiri in the corner where Smothers delivers a cheap shot from the floor. Tajiri connects with two dropkicks and a spinning heel kick for a two count. Tajiri dropkicks Guido into Smothers, who falls off the apron and crashes through a table. Tajiri comes off the ropes to deliver a dropkick to a kneeling Guido for the win. (**1/2. A solid match between these two. I’m glad they branching Tajiri off into other matches other than continually wrestling Super Crazy every week.)
5.) Tracy Smothers enters the ring and he’s clearly upset with Guido and they shove each other. Smothers attacks Guido from behind and they brawl on the mat while Big Sal tries to break them up.
6.) Crazy quickly hits a spinning heel kick on Del Norte as soon as the bell sounds. Crazy continues with a spinning side kick. Del Norte arm drags Crazy to the floor and hits a somersault dive over the top to the floor. Del Norte hits a springboard head scissors and an arm drag. Del Norte nearly wins with a rollup. Del Norte clotheslines Crazy but misses a springboard senton. Crazy hits a frog splash for a two count. Crazy hits three moonsaults, but Del Norte kicks out at two. Crazy hits Del Norte with a springboard moonsault into the crowd. Del Norte nearly wins with a hurricanrana in the middle of the ring. Del Norte drives Crazy down to the mat with a sit-out brain buster for a two count. Del Norte sends Crazy to the floor following a springboard dropkick. Del Norte takes Crazy out with a somersault dive to the floor. Del Norte plants Crazy face first onto the canvas followed by a leg drop for a two count. Del Norte hits a few shoulder rams in the corner. However, Crazy counters an attempt with a rollup and wins the match. (***. I enjoyed this one, as well. I’m looking for a triple threat match between Crazy, Del Norte and Tajiri. I think that would tear the house down.)
7.) Jasmine St. Claire is in a hotel room with an ECW banner covering her, seemingly, naked body.
8.) Footage from ECW Living Dangerously 1999 is shown where Lance Wright returned to ECW as the guest of Jasmine St. Claire. St. Claire asks how many men want to see her naked. This was horribly teased as St. Claire teased getting naked, but Lance Wright fakes us out. St. Claire insults the fans and says she is the new “Queen of Extreme”. That comment brings out Francine. Francine hits a stunner on St. Claire. Francine low blows Lance Wright.
9.) The remainder of the show consisted of stills from the Living Dangerously PPV.
Final Thoughts:
I enjoyed the matches presented and they did a good job of highlighting what happened at the PPV. Considering I’ve always been a fan of Tracy Smothers, I wouldn’t mind seeing him get a singles push if he is splitting from Little Guido.
Thanks for reading.
