World Championship Wrestling presents Saturday Night
Date: 7/31/1999
From:

Matches:
1.) Jerry Flynn & Hugh Morrus defeated Disorderly Conduct
2.) Van Hammer defeated Mike Enos
3.) Curt Hennig defeated Al Greene
4.) Rey Mysterio Jr. & B.A defeated Kendall Windham & Bobby Duncum Jr.

Angle Developments/Notes:
1.) Hammer and Enos collide on a shoulder block and have a standoff. Enos knee lifts Hammer followed by a slam and an axe handle. Enos powerslams Hammer for a two count. Enos drives Hammer down to the mat with a backbreaker. Enos jumps down onto Hammer’s back while keeping a chin lock on Hammer. Hammer is able to get his knees up to counter the splash. Hammer atomic drops Enos followed by a big boot for a two count. Hammer plants Enos with a spine buster and finishes Enos off wit the cobra clutch slam. (*. The Hammer push must continue, I guess.)

2.) Mean Gene interviewed Ernest Miller and Sonny Ono. Miller promotes himself and his accomplishments. Miller promises to take care of Buff Bagwell at Road Wild. Miller predicts that he’ll beat Bagwell in less than five minutes. Ono doesn’t seem overly confident. Miller says he’ll kiss Bagwell’s feet and leave town if he can’t beat Bagwell in less than five minutes.

3.) BA starts the match with Kendhall taking Kendall down with a few arm drags. BA works over Kendall in the corner with more right hands. BA clotheslines Kendall and punches Duncum off the apron. Kendall knee lifts BA and hits a swinging neckbreaker. Duncum works over BA with stomps in the corner but misses a splash. Mysterio comes off the top rope to take Duncum down followed by a bulldog. Mysterio leg drops Duncum for a two count. Duncum counters a sunset flip with a right hand. Duncum clotheslines Mysterio from behind. Kendall boots Mysterio in the corner and Kendall enters the match. Kendall big boots Mysterio followed by a vertical suplex for a two count. Kendall puts Mysterio on the top turnbuckle and hits a back suplex. Duncum returns to the match and stomps on Mysterio. Duncum drives Mysterio down with a backbreaker for a two count. Kendall tries for a back suplex, but Mysterio tags in BA. BA cleans house with strikes and forearms. BA takes Kendall down with a side Russian leg sweep for a two count. Curt Hennig gets in the ring and attacks Mysterio. Barry Windham enters to go after BA. The other No Limit Soldiers enter the ring to make the save. (*1/2. The action was fairly decent. I still don’t understand why they can’t do a clean finish on the C-level show. It just blows my mind at this point.)

Final Thoughts:
I’d consider this a skippable week of Saturday Night. It was a harmless hour of TV, with just nothing of note happening.

Thanks for reading.
