World Championship Wrestling presents Pro
Date: 11/9/1997
From: Orlando, FL
Matches:
1.) Eddie Guerrero defeated Julio Sanchez
2.) Public Enemy defeated David Heath & Todd Griffith
3.) Lorenzo defeated Tim Cheeks
4.) Lizmark Jr. & Hector Garza defeated La Parka & El Dandy
5.) WCW Tag Team Champions Steiner Brothers defeated Scott Norton & Buff Bagwell to retain the titles
Angle Developments/Notes:
1.) I have honestly never heard of Lorenzo in WCW and any results for the show have him listed as Johnny Swinger, which is not the case. Lorenzo won the match with a bridging suplex. I’m not sure if Lorenzo was ever seen again.
2.) Parka and Lizmark start the tag match with Parka working over Lizmark with strikes. Lizmark does a cartwheel and backdrops Parka out of the corner. Parka boots Lizmark in the corner and is monkey flipped to the mat. Parka overhand chops Lizmark and misses a spear in the corner hitting the ring post. Dandy tags in as Garza enters and is catapulted across the ring. Garza monkey flips Dandy but runs into a right hand by Dandy. Garza hits a moonsault and a tilt a whirl backbreaker. Parka clotheslines Garza leading to Lizmark entering. Parka clotheslines Lizmark and double stomps Lizmark over the apron. Parka slams Lizmark and Dandy hits a top rope elbow drop for a two count. Lizmark tags in Garza, who hits a missile dropkick. Garza slams Dandy and falls down. Garza catapults Lizmark to the floor to take out Parka. Garza goes to the top and is stopped by Dandy. Garza shoves Dandy off and hits a missile dropkick. Garza connects with a standing moonsault to win the match. (***. That was plenty of fun for these four guys and far exceeded my expectations.)
3.) Bagwell arm drags Scott Steiner to kickoff the main event. Scott shoulder blocks Bagwell, but Bagwell comes back with a hip toss and taunts Scott. Scott comes back with a hip toss out of the corner followed by a double under hook slam. Rick Steiner clotheslines Norton and the Steiner’s play to the crowd. Bagwell clotheslines Scott from behind to get the advantage and tosses Scott over the top to the floor. Norton works over Scott with a chop on the floor and sends Scott into the ring post. Bagwell maintains control with a scoop slam and poses for the crowd who show their displeasure towards Bagwell. Norton enters the match and drops Scott with a short arm clothesline. Norton controls Scott with a neck vice. Norton drives Scott down to the mat with a neckbreaker. Bagwell tags into the match and stomps on Scott. Bagwell slams Scott and misses a middle rope elbow drop. Rick gets tagged in and hammers away on Norton. Rick decks Bagwell and clotheslines Norton. DiBiase knocks out Vincent! Bagwell backdrops Rick to the floor. Norton clubs Scott from behind and hits a powerslam. Rick nails Norton with a top rope bulldog to win the match! (**1/4. I thought the closing two minutes were nicely done. There was energy to the match and some heat, too. That made for a fun viewing experience.)
Final Thoughts:
I’d consider this a strong show for Pro with both featured matches delivering some quality entertainment.
Thanks for reading.
