Team Friendship (Skyros & Stone) come out to cut a promo to start the show. Skyros introduces themselves. They will be wrestling Hot Stuff Enterprises later tonight. They end up being cutoff by Hot Stuff Enterprises. They are with Eden Grey a valet for the group. Stetson grabs a microphone and asks where are they right now. The crowd begins to chant “you’re hot garbage” promoting Stetson to cover his ears. Braun claims to have forgotten the piece of crap town they are in. Stetson asks who came to see Adam Stone to kick his butt. The crowd cheers. The crowd boos at the suggestion that they are there to see Team Friendship get beaten up. That leads to a brawl in the ring between the two teams. Skyros is double teamed in the ring and sent into the ring post groin first and gets his knee wrapped around the post. Braun has a chair and smashes Skyros knee against the post. Stetson put a figure four on around the post. Black & Yellow run down to make the save with chairs. Skyros is helped to the backstage area.

Ephex hits a top rope crossbody and a big splash off the top by Freeze leads to the three count. (*. Ephex is motivated and the team of Polar Ephex is over with the crowd. Body Bag Bros didn’t impress me at all.)

I wasn’t aware of Puregold and the Body Bag Bros being a stable known as Greed. I thought the action was solid here. Puregold showcased some fun offense and Coles looked comfortable in there this time around. A solid undercard match.) After the match, Greed taunts the crowd in the middle of the ring as Coles is sent to the floor.

There were a few sloppy moments, but Black & Yellow continues to be a bright spot for 1UP Wrestling shows. This probably isn’t their best performance, but they’re also working with an inexperience team.)

James delivers a pump kick and hits a flatliner for the win. (**. Originally it was suppose to be Garrett Holiday instead of James, but Holiday couldn’t make the show. It was a decent match and a strong showing for McKenzie, who once again was able to showoff his move set a lot more than he was able to do in years past while working for 2CW.)

I’ve yet to be impressed by Terry in any of the showings I’ve seen in him in the many Upstate NY promotions that he works for. Denim may have been hurt late in the match.)

Rizzy hits a standing shooting star press for a near fall. Rizzy heads to the top rope missing a splash attempt. Prince decks Rizzy with a lariat and hits an over the shoulder cutter for the win. (**. I kind of wish that Rizzy wouldn’t be used as a squash guy, but that appears to be the case in the early stages of 1UP. Rizzy makes his opponents look good, but he has potential to be more than how he’s being used. Prince did a fine job throughout the match.)
Hot Stuff Enterprises cuts a promo before the main event. Braun calls the fans pathetic, balding, and basically losers. Braun puts over himself and Stetson as the greatest tag team in 1UP Wrestling. “Rick Rude did it better.” – a fan.

Stone tags into the match and holds Stetson for the Hart Attack kick leading to the three count on Stetson. (*1/2. This didn’t do much for me. Skyros seemed to pick and choose the knee injury and that kind of took me out of the match. They dedicated the opening segment to the injury angle and it wasn’t consistently sold. Personally, I’m not a fan of injury angles especially on indie shows, but it’s not a big deal.) After the match, Stetson and Braun tease tension, but they hug it out.
Final Thoughts:
It’s the first 1UP Wrestling show that I didn’t enjoy. It was a free show and an outside show, but I don’t think any of that would play a part in the quality of the action. There weren’t any standout matches. Luckily, their next show on August 17th seems to be a much stronger show on paper. I’m especially looking forward to the promoted debut of Chris Slade, and a tag match between Black & Yellow and the team of Colin Delaney & Cheech.
Thanks for reading.
