Pro-Pain Pro Wrestling presents The Show Must Go On
Date: 1/15/2005
From: Philadelphia, PA
Jasmine St. Claire, one of the owners of 3PW, no-showed the event. As a result, Blue Meanie ran the show. With St. Claire not appearing it led to reportedly wrestlers Joey Matthews, Low Ki and Gary Wolfe to leave the promotion as there was no money for payouts. 3PW investor Tod Gordon also left the promotion.
Opening Contest: Monsta Mack vs. N8 Mattson: Mattson gets the early advantage with a hammerlock, but Mack counters with one of his own. Mattson counters again and takes Mack down with a headlock. Mack throws Mattson across the ring to break free from a top wrist lock. Mack controls with a wrist lock, but Mattson counters with a hammerlock again. Mack forearms Mattson in the corner and continues with chops. Mattson avoids Mack in the corner and delivers a tornado DDT. Mattson tries for a cover, but Mack kicks out at two. Mattson strikes Mack, but is caught on a crossbody attempt. Mack plants Mattson with a powerbomb. Mack drags Mattson to the corner and heads to the opposite corner looking for a Coast To Coast dropkick. Mack leaps off and actually hits the move! Mack tries for a cover, but Mattson gets his boot on the bottom rope. Mack accidentally clotheslines Damian Adams off the apron. Mattson inside cradles Mack and wins the match. (**. A couple of good spots taken by Mattson on the floor bump this match up a little more than I’d normally do. I’m surprised the crowd didn’t react better to Mack hitting the Coast to Coast for the first time.)
Rockin’ Rebel comes out and talks as the promoter. Rebel announces the show is being changed due to some issues backstage. Rebel introduces the commissioner Bill Apter to explain what’s going on. Apter announces that Low Ki will not be here for the main event. However, Apter has signed a new main event. The main event will see 3PW Heavyweight Champion Christopher Daniels defending against Slyck Wagner Brown, Chris Sabin and AJ Styles. Apter also announces a battle royal taking place tonight. The stipulation for the battle royal is the winner will be the referee for the bra and panties match later on in the show. Apter calls out April Hunter to join the segment. Apter notes that Hunter has called him a bitch in her newsletter, and that upset Apter. Apter has seen Hunter claim she’s a great wrestler and has raised women’s wrestling. Apter notes that fans have seen Hunter pose for Penthouse and Playboy. Apter announces that Hunter is in the bra and panties match. Apter is pulling Jasmine St. Claire out of the match and Hunter is competing against Talia. Apter threatens to withhold Hunter’s pay if she doesn’t compete in the bra and panties match.
Prior to the next match, Simon Diamond has a microphone and says he’s got a problem. Diamond is upset that he’s not in the main event, but he was never originally in the main event. Diamond can’t believe 3PW expects him to start off in a battle royal with Don E. Allen. Diamond declines to be part of the battle royal and walks off. As Diamond walks up the aisle, Roadkill makes his entrance and calls Diamond a chicken.
Second Contest: Nine-Man Battle Royal: The battle royal involves everyone competing on the show, aside from the main event. Don E. Allen is also involved in the match. I’ll give this a short story treatment. It gives you an idea of what wrestling was all about in 2005 when nine guys are fighting for the right to referee a bra and panties match. Diamond returned to the match and shoved Roadkill over the ropes to eliminate his rival. Allen eventually wins the match eliminating Rebel. I couldn’t care any less about this.
Third Contest: Simon Diamond vs. Roadkill: Roadkill attacks Diamond backstage and Roadkill sends Diamond into a pillar. Roadkill sends Diamond into the railing. They get into the ring and Diamond begs off. Roadkill eye rakes Diamond, but Diamond bails to the floor to avoid a clothesline. Diamond gets a microphone and claims he didn’t sign up or this. Roadkill slams Diamond and heads to the middle rope to deliver a splash for a near fall. Roadkill plants Diamond with a TKO and climbs to the top rope. Roadkill hits a top rope splash and pins Diamond for the win. (*. Diamond didn’t seem like he was overly interested in putting forth a strong effort. The crowd felt flat for this as well.)
Fourth Contest: Blue Meanie vs. Damian Adams: Adams stalls on the floor yelling at fans in the front row. Meanie taunts Adams with dance moves, if you can call them that. Meanie backs Adams into a corner, but backs off and taunts Adams. Adams backs Meanie into a corner and is met with an eye poke after ducking a wild strike. Meanie drop toe holds Adams into the corner and rams Adams into the corner several times. Adams rams Meanie into the corner, but Meanie sends Adams over the ropes to the floor in the corner. Monsta Mack checks on Adams and says he wasn’t there because his back hurts. Meanie atomic drops Adams followed by a clothesline and a backdrop out of the corner. Adams drags Meanie to the middle of the ring and signals for a moonsault. Adams misses a top rope moonsault. Meanie slams Adams and hits a moonsault for the win. (DUD. That was bad. Meanie basically completely missed the moonsault. Not good.)
Fifth Contest: April Hunter vs. Talia in a bra and panties match: Don E. Allen appears to not be a good referee. This match is truly horrible. Hunter manages to ripoff Talia’s clothing to reveal her bra and panties. Hunter decides to show off her bare ass in celebration. After the match, Bill Apter announces that Don E. Allen never signed paperwork after his battle royal victory. Apter reveals that as a result the victory doesn’t count.
Sixth Contest: CJ O’Doyle vs. Rockin’ Rebel: Rebel drop toe holds O’Doyle and controls CJ with a headlock to start the match. O’Doyle counters with a hammerlock, but Rebel counters with a headlock. Rebel shoulder blocks O’Doyle and keeps control with a headlock on the mat. O’Doyle has a head scissors on Rebel, but Rebel breaks free only for O’Doyle to put a headlock on Rebel. O’Doyle gets out of a head scissors and they have a standoff. Rebel hammers away on O’Doyle, but O’Doyle hits a middle rope crossbody and pulls Rebel down from behind for a two count. O’Doyle hammers away on Rebel and is shoved away in the corner. Rebel decks O’Doyle with a right hand and tosses O’Doyle over the top to the floor. O’Doyle sends Rebel into the railing. Rebel covers, but O’Doyle kicks out at two. Rebel drives O’Doyle to the mat with a spinebuster. O’Doyle rolls onto the timekeepers table, but Rebel grabs O’Doyle and delivers a piledriver through the table on the floor! Rebel covers on the floor and pins O’Doyle. (*. Well, there wasn’t much going on here until the piledriver through the table that I was not expecting to see whatsoever. The piledriver spot is the best thing to happen on the show so far.) After the match, Rebel shows respect to O’Doyle.

Brown tries for a powerbomb, but Daniels breaks free and hits the Angels Wings for the clean win after twenty minutes of action. (***1/4. A good main event that got going well once they got rid of the tag structure and let everyone hit their moves. The crowd seemed a bit flat for the finish, but Brown taking the fall didn’t seem to be any kind of surprise or anything. This is by far the best match on the show and the only match to bother watching if needed.)
Final Thoughts:
Considering the circumstances 3PW had quite the obstacles to overcome. The undercard is horrible and filled with poor effort and boring wrestling. The four way main event is enjoyable, but not any kind of all-time great match. 3PW seems far removed from having a show full of top indie names and veteran names from ECW. Recommended to avoid.
Thanks for reading.
