Red kicks Archadia and tries for the Code Red, but Archadia delivers a low blow and spikes Red with a piledriver for the win. (***1/2. I tend to dislike these multi-man matches because they are incredibly difficult to cover. However, this turned into a great match. Some of these dives were nuts and the action was non-stop once it got going. I think all seven men impressed and this was a great way to star the anniversary show.)

Wilde is capable of much better.)
Backstage, Taylor Wilde cuts a promo about her first match in JAPW and her match with Annie Social. Wilde suggests that Social has “gotten around.” Wilde is ready to take on the next contender in JAPW. (Wilde never returned to JAPW)

Generico accidentally nails Steen with a boot in the corner. Juan hits a back suplex as Lethal elbow drops Generico from the top to win the match. (**. The fans were a bit disappointed with how this one turned out. They wanted to see a brainbuster and didn’t get it nor did they get a Package Piledriver. Steen and Generico were quite popular in ROH at the time, too. So, it’s a little weird to see them do a clean job here even if it’s by Lethal. The action wasn’t too bad, but I could have done without the extended comedy early in the match.)

Rhino is handed a table by Johnny D. and sets it up in the corner. Maff chops and strikes Rhino, but missed a clothesline. Rhino misses a GORE and goes through the table allowing Maff to pin Rhino for the win. (*1/2. Honestly, this was a major disappointment. I was quite interested in this bout since Rhino has been great on the indies and Maff had been good since his return from hiatus. I don’t think these two meshed very well. Aside from the crowd brawling, which was average at best, there wasn’t much here to get excited about. Rhino essentially beat himself instead of Maff winning anyway.)
Backstage, Hernandez is interviewed regarding the Briscoe Brothers costing them the tag titles last month. Hernandez doesn’t know who the announcer guy is and suggests he’ll see him in the shower. Hernandez dives over the top to take both Briscoe’s out with a crossbody. Homicide misses a clothesline and cutter on Mark. Homicide chop blocks Mark and hits the Cop Killa for the win. (**. I’m a bit disappointed with the brawling approach here. I wish they had worked a more standard tag match as I think we would have gotten a great match out of these two teams. The previous match having a similar style probably didn’t help matters for the tag match as the action came across a bit repetitive.)
Backstage, LAX cut a promo about their win over Briscoe Brothers. Homicide claims they are the best tag team and dispels the rumors that they are splitting up. Homicide says the only way they’d breakup is if Hernandez went to jail. Homicide calls out the Heavy Hitters, FBI and DNA as future opponents. LAX want their tag belts back.

SAT tease another Spanish Fly, but Mack low blows Jose and hits an over the shoulder driver through the table in the bleachers. Joel heads to the top and is caught by Havok. Havok hits a Death Valley Driver and pins Joel for the win. (*1/2. JAPW is really focusing on brawling tonight. The driver in the bleachers was mostly the lone big spot of the match. I don’t think SAT could successfully pull off the Spanish Fly since they aren’t the same younger, lighter guys from almost a decade prior. The crowd didn’t seem to be all that interested in the action either.)
Backstage, JAPW New Jersey State Champion Bandido Jr. is interviewed regarding his match with Danny Demanto. Bandido has a bigger heart and passion for the business than Demanto. Bandido promises to give it his all and that Demanto will have to kill him to win the title.

Early on there was some fun offense by DNA, but the action quickly slowed down and didn’t hold my interest as much as the start did. DNA seems to be a fun younger tag team and it’s probably the best choice to put the titles on them heading into the new year.) After the match, FBI argue for a moment, but they makeup.

Ki can’t believe it. Omega and Ki brawl for a bit. LAX and the Heavy Hitters come out to brawl, too. The original referee ends up suffering a double stomp by Ki off the top rope. (***. It’s a solid main event that had plenty of hard hitting action. I think I was expecting some kind of classic encounter, but it never reached that level. It was a bit odd to witness Low Ki essentially be rejected by the crowd as a top face as they popped big for the dusty finish in a positive manner. A good match, but not enough to save the show.)
Final Thoughts:
JAPW 11th Anniversary Show started off with a fantastic seven man match, but the remainder of the card came across shockingly underwhelming. LAX/Briscoe and Maff/Rhino were less than I was hoping for, which was a major disappointment. The Rahway crowd didn’t seem to be overly invested in most of the action, but that could also have audio issues the show had been having throughout. Regardless, I have to give this show a mild thumbs down. With a near four-hour runtime, it didn’t deliver enough to recommend viewing.
Thanks for reading.
