4.) Buddy Landell defeated Gary Young in a first round match for the GWF TV Title

Angle Developments/Notes:
1.) Craig Johnson and Scott Hudson talk about how there are only four quarterfinal spots remaining in the GWF TV Title Tournament. They rundown the remaining four matches to take place on the show today.

2.) Scott Hudson interviews Buddy Landell. Landell says Buddy Rogers was the 60s, Flair the 80s and Landell the 90s when it comes to being the Nature Boy. Landell says Sean Connery asks him about women. Landell insults fans sitting in their chairs at homes telling their wives that they could’ve, should’ve. Landell is there doing it and the fan is where they belong. Landell is looking for the money and not a specific wrestler.

3.) Street blows a kiss towards Rotten and slaps Rotten on the butt in the corner. Rotten continues to runaway from Street and Street mocks Rotten’s running. Street gets control with a hammerlock, but switches to a wrist lock. Street takes Rotten down to the mat to keep arm control. Street knee drops Rotten on the arm. Street stomps Rotten on the mat and wrenches on the arm a few times. Street snapmares Rotten followed by a stomp to the chest and back. Street keeps control on the mat with a chin lock. Rotten fights free with an eye rake and drops Street to the mat with left hands. Rotten rams Street into the corner face first. Rotten chokes Street over the bottom rope. Street delivers a few strikes to the chest against the ropes. Rotten hits Street with something in the corner and pins Street. The referee sees the object after raising Rotten’s arm and awards the match to Street by disqualification. (1/2*. I’m glad Street advanced and not Rotten as Rotten didn’t do anything here to be entertaining. It was mostly simply strikes and the match dragged along.)

4.) Rasta seems to have put a curse on Gaylord’s right shoulder before the match began. Gaylord is in fact acting as if his right shoulder hurts. Rasta shoves Gaylord into the ropes and taunts Gaylord. Gaylord responds with a clothesline to knock Rasta down. Gaylord poses for the crowd. Rasta puts a headlock on Gaylord for a few moments. Rasta is met with a crossbody for a two count and Rasta sends Gaylord out of the ring on a kick out. Gaylord kicks Rasta in the midsection, but Rasta isn’t hurt by them. Gaylord dropkicks Rasta for a two count and again Gaylord is sent to the floor on a kick out. Rasta backs Gaylord into a corner and delivers a knee lift several times. Gaylord leaps off the middle rope to hit a crossbody for a one count. Rasta puts a headlock on Gaylord, but Gaylord backdrops Rasta. Gaylord takes Rasta to the mat with a headlock. Rasta hits another elbow drop, but Gaylord headbutts Rasta in the midsection and continues with strikes. Gaylord comes off the ropes to deck Rasta with a right hand. Gaylord misses a splash in the corner and Rasta rolls Gaylord up for the win. Gaylord favored his shoulder after the splash. (*1/2. I’m fairly certain this is the longest match GWF has put on thus far. I like Rasta and he’s a similar character to the Papa Shango character that wouldn’t debut for nearly half a year later in the WWF. Rasta is far more imposing and seems like a potential force in the GWF. The storytelling on the shoulder of Gaylord was appreciated, as well.)

5.) Craig Johnson and Scott Hudson talk about The Patriot and Bill Irwin, whom we’ll see in the tournament later. Hudson promotes both men and how they are two different styles. They are essentially promoting the next rounds matches. Billy Black squares off against Randy Rhodes. Terry Garvin will battle Mahkan Singh.

6.) Boni Blackstone talks with a fan named Freddie. Freddie says that the fans have been duped by an evil genius in Singh. I’m guessing Freddie is not a fan and an actual performer.

7.) James quickly goes on the attack working over Bully with strikes. James continues to strike Bully in the corner several times. James rams Bully into the corner face first. James eye rakes Bully and chokes Bully briefly. James eye rakes Bully and hip tosses Bully. James continues with a scoop slam and arm drags Bully. Bully eye pokes James to gain the advantage. Bully stomps James on the mat and chokes James over the middle rope. Bully keeps a sleeper on James, but doesn’t get a submission. Bully clotheslines James coming off the ropes. Bully clubs James over the chest against the ropes. Bully keeps a sleeper on James in the middle of the ring. Bully puts a neck vice on James and continues with a strike to the chest. Bully eye rakes James. Bully knee lifts James and clotheslines James over the top to the floor. Bully nails James with the Bully Blaster and rolls James up for the win. (*. At first I was a bit surprised by how much offense James got, but that may mean that James could be used as a meaningful character in some other aspect. Bully didn’t have much in the form of interesting offense, so the match quickly stalled when he gained control of the match.)

8.) Boni Blackstone interviews Mahkan Singh. Singh claims he’s the only star in the GWF. Singh wants people to forget about Norman. Singh says that teddy bears are for snot nose people such as Boni. Singh is going to show people what he’s made of in the GWF. Singh hurts people and doesn’t want to see Boni again.

9.) Young backs Landell into a corner, but Landell decks the referee and blames Young. Young pleads his case and the referee lets the match keep going. Young backs Landell into the corner and Landell decks the referee a second time. Young again pleads his case. Young backs Landell into the corner and Landell fakes an eye poke, which didn’t happen. Landell is met with a strike coming off the middle rope. Young stops Landell with a swinging neckbreaker for a two count. Young knee lifts Landell for a two count. Landell misses a clothesline and Young forearms Landell. Young hits a crossbody, but Landell rolls through and puts his feet on the ropes to steal the victory. (*1/2. I liked Young’s energy and he came across very well as a babyface. Landell seems positioned as a top heel, which doesn’t bother me. The match wasn’t anything noteworthy, though.)

10.) The Patriot is interviewed to close the program. Patriot is excited to be in the GWF. Patriot represents all the people in the USA. Patriot says the people are his energy source in the ring.

11.) The next episode is the start of the second round to crown the GWF TV Champion.

Final Thoughts:
Rasta stood out as a potential interesting character for GWF. There was a ton more personality and charisma displayed on the show, as well. I enjoyed the program despite lackluster in-ring action.
