Jeremy Borash is hosting the show without Bert Prentice until a snowball hits Borash and Mortimer Plumtree joins Borash hosting the show. They discuss the recent happenings involving Vince Russo and SEX. Plumtree believes that he still has an association with AJ Styles, which is not the case.
Opening Contest: David Young vs. Iceberg: Young controls Iceberg with a headlock, but Iceberg shoulder blocks Young and misses a leg drop. Young kicks Iceberg and dropkicks Iceberg to the floor. Young baseball slides Iceberg on the floor and hits a springboard moonsault to the floor. Young strikes Iceberg, but is sent into the apron. Iceberg splashes Young against the apron. Iceberg covers Young for a two count. Young ducks a clothesline and Iceberg spears Young. Iceberg side slams Young and delivers a big splash for a two count. Eddie G chokes Young over the middle rope and Iceberg splashes Young. Iceberg hits a belly to belly suplex. Iceberg sends Young into the corner. Iceberg punches Young several times in the corner. Young hits a sit down powerbomb out of the corner! Iceberg rolls to the floor to regroup where Young delivers a few strikes. Eddie G distracts Young allowing Iceberg to deliver a strike from behind. Young plants Iceberg with a spinebuster on the floor! Young plants Eddie G with a spinebuster. The referee calls of the bell. Iceberg has been disqualified. (**. I didn’t hate that as Young got some time to shine. However, it cracks me up that Young couldn’t get a clean win on Xplosion and knowing the lengthy losing streak Young would eventually experience makes this a little bit funnier.)
Bert Prentice arrives to the studio and throws a snowball and Mortimer Plumtree. Mortimer decides to leave and play in the snow. Borash and Prentice promote the latest happenings in TNA.
Main Event: Jorge Estrada vs. Chris Michaels: Michaels attacks Estrada in the corner before the bell sounds. Michaels is backdropped out of the corner. Michaels knee lifts Estrada followed by a shoulder block. Estrada counters a hip toss with an arm drag and dropkicks Michaels. Estrada hits a top rope crossbody for a two count on Michaels. Estrada strikes Michaels, but Michaels delivers a swinging neckbreaker. Michaels chokes Estrada on the mat briefly and rams Estrada into the corner followed by a strike. Estrada head scissors Michaels out of the corner. Estrada hits a springboard dropkick and gets a two count. Estrada monkey flips Michaels and hits a splash in the corner. Michaels counters a head scissors attempt with a double leg slam for a two count. Michaels chokes Estrada on the mat for a moment. Michaels strikes Estrada into the corner and rubs Estrada’s eyes over the top rope. Michaels tries for a delayed vertical suplex, but Estrada counters with a neckbreaker. Michaels and Estrada trade right hands until Estrada hit a hip toss for a two count. Estrada kicks Michaels and tries for a springboard, but is met with a superkick in midair leading to a near fall. Estrada tries for a slam, but Michaels counters with a facebuster over the knee and a neckbreaker. Michaels climbs to the top rope missing an elbow drop. Estrada kicks Michaels and delivers the Heartbreak Hotel neckbreaker for the win. (**. I can’t believe Estrada has kept the Elvis gimmick. It felt as if the crowd didn’t take him seriously. The action was decent throughout, though.)
Jeremy Borash is at ringside talking about last week show. Triple X popup from behind and Daniels tells everyone to get the look off their face. Daniels says they are the new style in TNA. Daniels says all the legends with their experience couldn’t defeat them. Daniels says it’s all about Triple X. Low Ki chimes in and says the wolves came out on top. Ki says Russo is the man to make a difference. Ki promises they will come out with the gold. Skipper says we could be looking at future champions no matter the title. Skipper proclaims they built this house. Daniels warns they are coming for Jeff Jarrett. Ki finishes off saying his catchphrase of being ready when the time comes.
Final Thoughts:
An average episode of Xplosion as the action didn’t feature anything overly entertaining, but they weren’t bad matches either.
Thanks for reading.
