1.) Lee Marshall, Dusty Rhodes and Larry Zbyszko are on commentary this week. They chat about Randy Savage and his relationship with Elizabeth over the last several years.
2.) Rage and Scott kickoff the tag match with Rage shoving Scott to the mat. Rage taunts the fans before locking up with Scott again. Rage sends Scott into the ropes, but Scott avoids a slam and hits dropkicks on Rage and Kaos. Armstrongs elbow Rage and deliver double strikes to the back. Rage clubs Steve over the back, but Kaos enters and is met with an arm drag. Scott returns to the match and Kaos is met with a double chop. Steve gets the hot tag and cleans house with strikes and dropkicks. Steve rams Kaos into Rage. Rage shoulder blocks Scott to the floor. Rage holds Steve and Kaos hits a springboard clothesline to pickup the clean win. (**. Actually not too bad of a match. I like the springboard Hart Attack finish for High Voltage as it feels like it fits for the 90s. I’m a fan of High Voltage.)
3.) Malenko and Chavo trade waist locks until Guerrero gets a two count on the mat. Malenko puts a headlock on Guerrero, but Guerrero breaks free quickly with a head scissors. Malenko drop toe holds Guerrero. Guerrero counters with an STF, but Malenko doesn’t submit. Guerrero keeps Malenko on the mat. Guerrero shoulder blocks Malenko and runs the ropes to hit a head scissors and dropkick sending Malenko to the floor. Malenko continues with a backbreaker and keeps Guerrero over his knee. Malenko covers Guerrero for a two count. Malenko knee lifts Guerrero coming off the ropes. Malenko holds Guerrero and connects with a gut buster. Malenko sends Guerrero into the corner and delivers a clothesline. Guerrero sunset flips Malenko and they trade pin attempts. Malenko sends Guerrero into the corner and tries for a slam, but Guerrero nearly wins with an inside cradle. Guerrero with another rollup for a two count. Guerrero uppercuts Malenko in the corner. Malenko plants Guerrero with a powerbomb in the corner and puts his feet on the ropes for the win. (**1/4. A standard match between these two, and it didn’t rely on high spots. It was an average wrestling match and it was decent for what it was.)
4.) Dungeon of Doom dominate their eight man tag match. Morrus wins the match following a top rope moonsault.
5.) Anderson offers a handshake to Eaton, and Eaton accepts the offer. They lockup and Eaton backs Anderson into a corner, but Anderson breaks free cleanly. Anderson controls Eaton with a hammerlock on the mat and knee drops Eaton on the back. Anderson rubs Eaton’s eyes over the ropes, but Eaton decks Anderson with a right hand. Eaton delivers a clothesline for a near fall. Eaton connects with a swinging neckbreaker and heads to the top rope. Dave Taylor comes out and Eaton strikes Taylor. Taylor beats on Eaton with an uppercut as the match is thrown out. Taylor continues to uppercut Eaton and hits a fallaway slam. Taylor stomps Eaton followed by strikes on the mat. Several officials are in the ring trying to keep Taylor away as the show comes to an end. (*1/2. I wasn’t expecting Taylor to get involved and advance his feud with Eaton, at all. It was also bizarre to see Eaton wearing plain black tights and showing zero of his personality from the 80s. The action isn’t memorable, but they didn’t drag their feet for five minutes.)
Final Thoughts:
A couple of fun matches on a quick show. No harm here.
