Vegas rams Hammer into the apron back first to keep the advantage before returning to the ring. Vegas runs into a boot in the corner and an elbow. Hammer leaps off the middle rope to clothesline Vegas. Hammer follows up with a leaping shoulder block for a two count. Hammer scoop slams Vegas and comes off the ropes to deliver a leg drop for a two count. Brad Armstrong and Diamond Dallas Page get involved on the floor. Vegas collides with DDP on the apron. Hammer hits a back suplex on Vegas and wins the match. (*1/2. For the most part it felt like two students figuring out how to work a match on TV. Hammer had some good impactful offense towards the end of the match, which bumps up the entertainment of the bout.)
2.) Madusa cuts a promo about Bill Watts finally doing something right by allowing her to settle her issues with Paul E. Dangerously at the Clash. Madusa says Dangerously’s mouth has written a check he can’t cash as he’s going to have one arm tied behind his back. We see footage of Madusa doing some kickboxing in the ring. Madusa is going to embarrass Paul and people will call him Paulina.
3.) Erik Watts won his enhancement match following a fisherman suplex.
4.) Jim Ross and Michael PS Hayes talk about Joe Thurman having his back broken by Vader on WCW Worldwide. We see the powerbomb in slow motion that broke Thurman’s back. They show footage of Thurman screaming on a stretcher, which may not have been needed. WCW encourages fans to send well wishes to Joe Thurman.
5.) Anderson and Bagwell kickoff the main event with Anderson taking Bagwell over with a fireman carry, but Bagwell breaks free with a head scissors on the mat and they have a standoff. Bagwell takes Anderson over with a headlock on the mat, but Anderson rolls over trying for a cover, but only gets a two count. Anderson backs Bagwell against the ropes and delivers a strike to the midsection. Bagwell counters a hammerlock with one of his own. Anderson counters back into corner, but Bagwell scoop slams Anderson and knee drops Anderson on the back several times. Bagwell sends Anderson into the corner and Sasaki enters to ram Anderson into the corner. Sasaki sends Anderson across the ring, but Anderson kicks Sasaki followed by a boot scrape. Anderson strikes Sasaki in the corner a few times. Sasaki blocks a boot in the corner as we see Erik Watts has come to ringside to watch the match. Sasaki atomic drops Anderson into the corner, but Anderson elbows Saskai. Anderson is caught coming off the middle rope with a powerslam for a two count. Eaton tags into the match and strikes Sasaki a few times. Sasaki backdrops Eaton coming off the ropes. Sasaki misses a clothesline and crashes to the floor. Michael PS Hayes cheap shots Sasaki as the referee was distracted. Watts did nothing to help Sasaki.
Eaton chokes Sasaki over the top rope to keep control before tagging in Anderson. Anderson strikes Sasaki in the midsection and delivers a knee drop for a two count. Sasaki continues to be worked over in the corner. Sasaki stops Eaton with a snap suplex and Eaton tags into the match. Bagwell sends Eaton into the corner to hit a monkey flip. Bagwell avoids a knee lift with a rollup on Eaton for a two count. Bagwell hip tosses Eaton out of the corner. Anderson drops Bagwell throat first over the top rope to prevent a head scissors attempt. Anderson catapults Bagwell throat first over the bottom rope and chokes Bagwell on the mat for a moment. Anderson connects with a knee drop. Bagwell fights back with right hands to drop Anderson, but Anderson trips Bagwell to the mat. Eaton tags back in and clotheslines Bagwell for a two count. Eaton strikes Bagwell to the mat and covers for another near fall. Eaton keeps Bagwell on the mat with a sleeper. Bagwell fights back with forearms. Eaton decks Bagwell through the ropes to the floor, but Sasaki tags in.
Sasaki cleans house with clotheslines and scoop slams. Sasaki is stopped by a forearm by Anderson and a swinging neckbreaker by Eaton. Bagwell gets in the ring as Watts brawls with Hayes. Watts slams Eaton off the top as the referee is distracted. Sasaki tackles Eaton and picks up the win. (**1/4. A solid tag match. It’s a big weird to see this taking place in an empty Center Stage as this must have been taped after an episode of Saturday Night and people left quickly. They are trying to give Watts the rub by being associated with Sasaki and Bagwell, but I’m not sure it’s going to be work very well.)
6.) Jim Ross is with Paul E. Dangerously who is pretending to cry regarding his match with Madusa at the Clash on Wednesday. Dangerously is ready to fight Madusa. Dangerously tells Erik Watts that he has got to go and that will happen at the Clash. Dangerously hopes Madusa has been investing her paycheck. Dangerously doesn’t think it is Madusa’s fault for being stupid and says she was born stupid because she’s a woman. Dangerously is going to show has dominate a man can be at the Clash. Dangerously promises to kick her miserable tail at the Clash.
Final Thoughts:
An average at best episode, but I’m leaning towards this being a skippable episode overall.
Thanks for reading.
