Date: 10/8/1999
ECW on TNN starts off with a video going over a few women who have been involved with ECW over the years. Tammy Lynn Sytch will be conducting a shoot interview.
ECW on TNN opening video
Joey Styles and Joel Gertner welcome everyone to the program. Styles hypes up the show which includes Tammy Sytch talking about the lifestyle that women face in wrestling.
A video showing footage from August 1998 is shown where Tammy Sytch stripped Dawn Marie of her clothing.
Opening Contest: Tajiri defeated Super Crazy and Little Guido: This match is from Anarchy Rulz from September. Thus, I will not be recapping it here.
Joey Styles hypes up the interview with Tammy Sytch coming up next!
Tammy talks about feeling like she was on top of the world when working for SMW. Her run with WWF is brought up and Tammy mentions that there is a website dedicated to her bare feet. Tammy chats about muscle relaxer named Soma and says that Soma is around a lot in the locker rooms. Tammy mentions that Louie Spicolli, a good friend of hers, passed away after taking too many Somas. That is only part one of the interview.
Main Event: Lance Storm defeated Jerry Lynn: This match is also from Anarchy Rulz from September. Thus, once again I will not be recapping it here.
Back to the Tammy interview. Tammy says she was considered old by 1997 and she was only 24. She says she was considered a Kliq chick because she was friends with the Kliq. Tammy didn’t find herself taking advantage of time off she got when she left WWF. Tammy discusses drinking and wanting to die. Tammy says she is going to set the standard that the girls are judged by. “Because I am alive, and I am back!”
End of show.
My Take: Well, that has to be one of the worst shows I have ever watched. Quite honestly, it offered nothing to what was currently going on in ECW.
Why on earth would you show two matches from your most recent pay per view? WCW got so much shit for doing that in October 1998 with the DDP/Goldberg main event but ECW does it and I have never heard anyone put that decision done. That just isn’t smart.
The Tammy interview gave a lot of insight on her career, but honestly it got really personal and it didn’t need to do that all. It hurts the business in my opinion when wrestlers or managers in this case openly come out and talk about drug abuse in this setting. I felt weird watching the interview as she talks about wanting to die and using drugs. I don’t think the purpose of the interview was for the viewer to be left asking themselves “why am I watching this?”. I didn’t like the interview, at all.
Overall, ECW completely wasted a episode of ECW on TNN to basically talk about Tammy’s life and show matches from their most recent PPV for free. All around horrible use of television time.
