Tonight, WWE returns to pay per view with the Elimination Chamber. Both the WWE Championship and the WWE World Heavyweight Championship will be defended inside the ever dangerous Elimination Chamber. This is the final pay per view stop before WrestleMania. Here is the announced card and my predictions for the event.
For the WWE World Heavyweight Championship: Elimination Chamber
[champion] Daniel Bryan vs. Cody Rhodes vs. Wade Barrett vs. The Great Khali vs. Big Show vs. Santino Marella
This is obviously the weaker of the two Elimination Chamber matches. I understand the deceision to put Marella in the match as a replacement for Orton, but when it comes to taking it seriously, I have a hard time doing so. So, I’m assuming that it’s unlikely that Khali, Marella or Rhodes win this match. Khali just returned and lets face it, nobody wants that to happen. Marella is purely a comedy act and Rhodes is doing a fantastic job in his current role. That leaves us with Big Show, Wade Barrett and Daniel Bryan. The rumors have Big Show doing something with Shaq at WrestleMania, so he can be out of the picture here. It is possible to have Barrett win here since he has had a feud going on with Sheamus, but why take the belt off a red hot heel in Daniel Bryan? The answer to that is simple. You don’t. Daniel Bryan retains the championship here and enters WrestleMania as the WWE World Heavyweight Champion.
Kane vs. John Cena
Is there really any doubt here? It would make virtually no sense to have Cena lose before his match with the Rock at WrestleMania. They just need to find a way to keep Kane a monster, and I feel like they will find a suitable way to do that.
For the WWE Divas Championship:
[champion] Beth Phoenix vs. Tamina Snuka
The way they have built up Tamina has been really effective. I don’t know why they embrace the fact she is related to Jimmy Snuka, but Michael McGuility is not referenced to being Mr. Perfect’s son. Beth should be able to prevail here as I’m figuring she will be wrestling against Kharma at WrestleMania. If not, they better not have a Divas championship match on the show.
For the WWE Championship: Elimination Chamber
[champion] CM Punk vs. Chris Jericho vs. Dolph Ziggler vs. Kofi Kingston vs. R-Truth vs. The Miz
This one comes down to strictly two people. Nobody aside from Punk or Jericho will be walking out as the champion. In my opinion, we are going to see a championship change here. Most of the time, there is a babyface chasing a heel for the championship and I feel like that needs to happen here. I’m thinking that Jericho is going to be able to walk out with the championship and Punk will have to go through several obstacles to get a rematch at Mania.
As you can see, there are only four matches on the card. There is no way they can fill two and half hours with only four matches. I’m going to assume at one matchwill be added, and if so, I think this match should be the matches added.
David Otunga vs. Sheamus
How can you not have Sheamus on this pay per view? He just won the Royal Rumble for crying out loud! I’d put these two on here since Otunga is really becoming one of the more enjoyable heels in the company. I don’t see how this could hurt the show, really.
So, those are my predictions for the show. I hope you all enjoy the pay per view later tonight!
