WWE Over The Limit 2012 Predictions

Tomorrow night WWE returns to pay per view with Over The Limit. Traditionally there would be an Ironman match or something, but this year there isn’t. At the time of this writing there were only five matches for the actual pay per view announced with one pre-show match revealed as well. Here is the card and my predictions.

Pre-Show Match:
Kane vs. Zack Ryder

It would appear that any kind of push that Ryder had is now gone and is back to being just another guy on the roster. Personally, I don’t see anything wrong with that. His in-ring stuff hasn’t improved all that much and for the most part he is just a comedy character. Kane gets an easy win here to set himself up for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship picture.

WWE Divas Championship:
[champion] Layla vs. Beth Phoenix

At some point we are going to be getting a Phoenix/Kharma match but I don’t know how long we are going to have to wait. Layla isn’t connecting with the fans, but I don’t think she would have her title run cut this short. Layla sneaks out another victory here.

WWE World Tag Team Championships:
[champions] Kofi Kingston & R-Truth vs. Dolph Ziggler & Jack Swagger

The group of Ziggler and Swagger need to get some big wins to bring them back up the ranks. I believe I read that they lost on Superstars to Titus and Percy, which is disturbing. So, I think they get a much needed victory, and gold.

WWE World Heavyweight Championship:
[champion] Sheamus vs. Chris Jericho vs. Alberto Del Rio vs. Randy Orton

Let’s run this one down by each guy. Jericho isn’t going to be around much longer, so there isn’t any need for him to win the championship. If he were staying until SummerSlam, then sure, but he isn’t. Alberto Del Rio has fallen flat on his face because the writers have refused to get behind him and do anything good with the guy. He just isn’t worthy of a title run at this moment. That brings us down to Randy Orton and Sheamus. It seems like it has been awhile since Orton was champion. I can’t recall off the top of my head, but it has to have been a year or so. Sheamus is supposed to be getting this monster push and be the face of Smackdown for years to come. He’ll walk out as champion here.

WWE Championship:
[champion] CM Punk vs. Daniel Bryan

If this match ends in eighteen seconds, I’ll be pissed. These two have had great matches in front of thirty people, three hundred people, and fifteen thousand people. Tomorrow they are surely going to deliver a memorable match and make it obvious to everyone that they are two of the best wrestlers going today (sorry Jericho). Who comes out on top? Punk has been champion since November, and his run has been kind of suffering. Daniel Bryan on the other hand is white hot with the fans chanting “Yes” EVERYWHERE. Bryan has to win the championship here.

Grudge Match:
John Cena vs. John Laurinaitis

Who will come out and interfere for this match? Lord Tensai? Big Show? Brock Lesnar? All of the above? I’d be surprised to see John Cena win this match. Johnny Ace has been doing a very good job with his heel General Manager role and to end it before it should be ended would hurt RAW greatly. People have been suggesting that the Big Show will turn heel during this match, but I don’t see that happening. Yeah, he is overdue for a heel turn, but who could take a guy who literally cried in the ring seriously as a heel? I know I can’t. If anything, Show will try to help Cena and fail at it. Johnny Ace is going to win this match, but it won’t be clean. Someone will come out and interfere and help him out. I’m thinking it will be Brock Lesnar since he “quit” and isn’t a performer for the WWE. There is your loophole to the stipulation that anyone who interferes gets fired.

I’m sure there will be more matches on the card. If I had to guess, probably something like Brodus Clay/Miz, Santino/Rhodes and a Ryback squash. If any of those were to happen… I’d pick Clay, Rhodes and Ryback, obviously.

I hope everyone who orders the show enjoys it and feel free to leave any of your predictions as well.
