Angle Developments/Notes:
1.) Two former Flock members squared off tonight. The two men have gone onto two different routes. Horace is part of the NWO while Riggs is pretty much obsessed with his physical appearance, but is playing the babyface role for the match. Horace works over Riggs in the corner with several strikes and a clothesline. Riggs sends Horace to the floor following a dropkick and takes Horace out with a slingshot cross body on the floor. Riggs punches Vincent and sends Horace into the guard railing back first. Horace knocks Riggs down with a boot back in the ring. Stevie Ray has come down to ringside as Horace nearly wins after a power slam. Stevie Ray chases Vincent around ringside. Riggs has a cover on Horace but the referee is distracted. Riggs gets attacked from behind but Scotty gets a rollup. Ray enters the ring and kicks Riggs to allow Horace to get the win as Vincent had the referee distracted. (1/2*. Not much of a match as it was more of a way to promote the issues within the B group. Riggs had some good offense going for him, but that’s not the point of the match at all.)
2.) After Saturn put Dandy away pretty easily, Chris Jericho ran into the ring but Saturn was aware of the attack and Saturn attacks in the corner by putting his dress over Jericho’s head. Saturn plays to the crowd but Jericho has a chain around his fist and knocks Saturn out! Jericho taunts the fans with the chain.
3.) Backstage, Mean Gene interviews Bam-Bam Bigelow about a triple threat hardcore match with Hak and Raven taking place at Uncensored. Bigelow says that both men have been a pain for him and he has stitches to prove that. He is going to show them what hardcore is all about. Bigelow says it could get really bad with all the weapons. He tries to leave the hardcore ranks but they pull him back in.
4.) Early on, Mysterio and Guerrera counter each others moves with neither man getting a clear advantage. Rey takes Juvi to the floor with a wheelbarrow arm drag and plays to the crowd. Guerrera drives Mysterio down with a reverse power bomb by driving Rey down to mat chest first instead of back first. Juvi catches Rey on a springboard moonsault but Rey gets out of trouble. Juvi stops Rey on the apron by dropping Mysterio throat first across the top rope. On the floor, Rey hits a tilt a whirl back breaker. Rey comes off the apron to hit a Thez Press onto Juvi. Juvi hits a bulldog back in the ring for a near fall. Guerrera plants Rey with an elevated reverse DDT! Juvi manages to get a near fall due to playing to the crowd. Rey comes back with a face buster and a head scissors takedown. Juvi crotches Rey on the top rope. Guerrera hits a top rope superplex for a two count! Juvi counters a power bomb and hits the Juvi Driver but can’t put Rey away! Rey crotches Guerrera on the top rope and hits a top rope hurricanrana for the win! (***. A good match between these two considering they are quite familiar with each other at this point. When they get time to get their matches going, they always deliver quality action.)
5.) After Hennig and Windham win their match, Hennig gets the microphone and addresses the rumor that they are avoiding Benoit and Malenko. Benoit and Malenko enter the ring and they brawl with the tag champs. They take their belts off and whip the champs sending them to the floor!
6.) Backstage, Mean Gene interviews Ernest Miller and Sonny Ono. They will be wrestling Jerry Flynn next week at Uncensored. Miller wants Gene to bet on him against Jerry Flynn. Ono is going to remain undefeated at the pay per view.
7.) Backstage, Mean Gene is with Hardcore Hak. Hak is casually wrapped in barbed wire as Gene hypes the triple threat hardcore match at Uncensored. Hak says they don’t call him the king of hardcore for nothing and he will prove that at Uncensored. Hak thinks that someone could lose their career, but it’s not going to be him.
8.) Former partners collide in the main event. Barbarian starts working over Meng with several strikes in the corner. Meng comes out of the corner with a clothesline and a piledriver! They ram each other head first into the top turnbuckle but neither man is hurt. Meng sends Barbarian head first into the ring post and they brawl on the floor. Barbarian sends Meng shoulder first into the ring post and back first into the railing. Meng picks up the ring steps and drops them on Barbarian! They return to the ring and continue to trade strikes. Meng clotheslines Barbarian in the corner and delivers a kick to the knee. Barbarian comes back with a vertical suplex. Barbarian misses the Kick of Fear and Meng delivers a kick of his own. Here comes Hugh Morrus to cause a disqualification. Morrus hits a belly to belly suplex on Meng. Jimmy Hart brings a steel chair into the ring. Hart hits Meng a couple of times but Meng no sells it and picks up the chair to chase the heels from the ring! (*1/2. Their brawling on the floor was the most entertaining aspect of the match. Once they got into the ring it seemed like they didn’t know how to keep it interesting.)
Final Thoughts:
I thought it was a good show this week as Rey/Juvi was a fun match. Plus, they took the time to advance some feuds on the C level program. That makes the show more enjoyable.
Thanks for reading.
