Matches:
1.) Mikey Whipwreck defeated Stevie Richards
2.) Raven fought Tommy Dreamer to a no contest
Angle Developments/Notes:
1.) Pitbulls cut a promo about Sandman winning the ECW World Championship. They both think they should get title shots. Mikey Whipwreck thinks it is the worst thing to happen and wants to challenge for the championship too. Cactus Jack says that Sandman doesn’t deserve the championship. Jack says that Sandman is a piece of crap and deserves to be stepped on. Jack tells Shane Douglas to think before you act.
2.) Stevie Richards comes over to celebrate with Raven about Sandman winning the title, but is met with a smack across the face. Richards changes his tune saying he hopes Sandman loses. Hack Myers thinks it is a disgrace and wants the title too. ECW World Tag Team Champions Public Enemy share thoughts on the title win saying it was expensive. Paul E. Dangerously chimes in and says that all Taz has to do is hit one suplex and 911 would just have to hit one choke slam and then Sandman would be the former champion.
3.) As per usual with Dreamer and Raven, they have their brawl but the most important part of the angle thus far is a bloody Dreamer hitting a piledriver on Beulah right in the middle of the ring and playing to the crowd, who goes crazy for the spot. Dreamer leaves the ring and celebrates in the crowd despite not actually winning the match.
4.) ECW World Champion The Sandman shared some comments from Ft. Lauderdale and talks about drinking scotch with his father for the first time when he was nine. Sandman says that the fact is that he is the new ECW World Champion and that everyone wants to be just like him. Sandman loves knowing that Cactus Jack and Shane Douglas are at each others throats over a shot at his championship. A lawyer says that Douglas is upset because Sandman submitted while in the chicken wing submission and will talk to other companies. Cactus Jack thinks that Douglas should be happy for him since he gets a title shot and competes in a senseless feud with Sandman. The lawyer says that Sandman is everything that Douglas is against in wrestling. Jack thinks he is everything that ECW is all about. Jack says that championship matches were important to him. Jack is confident that his name will be listed a champion sometime soon. The lawyer says that Shane Douglas wishes Cactus Jack very well professionally. However, on a personal level Douglas is disappointed that his friend would get a title shot before him. Sandman says he is the newest role model in professional wrestling.
Final Thoughts:
I actually like the cocky attitude that Sandman has since winning the championship as he is clearly full of himself and delusional to think he is a role model in any manner. That’s what makes the character quite enjoyable at the moment. I’m very interested to see how the Sandman/Cactus feud goes over the next several months and how big a part Douglas plays in that since he is leaving the company soon. A fine episode overall this week, I’d say.
