Extreme Championship Wrestling presents Hardcore TV
Date: 5/30/1995
From: Philadelphia, PA
Matches:
1.) ECW Television Champion Eddie Guerrero fought Dean Malenko to a thirty minute draw to retain the title
2.) ECW World Champion The Sandman defeated Cactus Jack to retain the title
Angle Developments/Notes:
1.) As per usual with the Philadelphia shows, these matches happened at the Enter Sandman super card on May 13th, and thus, have already been reviewed. I tend to just stick with original programming on these reviews, which is sometimes not a whole lot.
2.) Tod Gordon was interviewed as he left his office. Gordon says that Bill Alfonso to enforce rules in ECW, but reminds us there are no rules. Gordon tells Shane Douglas to lighten up and says he is anal.
3.) Joey Styles is joined by Paul E. Dangerously and Tazmaniac. However, Tazmaniac looks completely different as he is adopting a new look as a mixed marital artist. Taz has cut his hair and isn’t being presented as a character any longer.
4.) Raven cuts a promo about his affair with Luna Vachon. Stevie Richards comes in and shows a scare on his back. Raven says that is nothing like the mental angst he lives with everyday. Raven is amused that the girlfriend of Dreamer’s youth now worships him. Raven would rather be crucified than to spend another day with Luna Vachon.
Final Thoughts:
I’m glad to see the change in Taz as ECW doesn’t really seem like the place of over the top characters that he had previously. ECW continues to show the top matches from their big shows on the television product, which isn’t a bad thing at all. Cactus just continues to lose the big matches against Sandman, which I don’t think really think is a good idea. Anyway, it’s a solid show this week.
Thanks for reading.
