Angle Developments/Notes:
1.) Missy Hyatt acted rather uninterested in introducing Jim Ross and cut him off during his introduction. Hyatt isn’t happy that Ross is going to interview Madusa on the program. Hyatt doesn’t think it is fair because they will be having a bikini contest at Beach Blast.
2.) Paul E. Dangerously comes out to be interviewed by Jim Ross. Dangerously believes he should be the co-host for the show. Dangerously says that Ross is nothing without him. Dangerously will be his co-host for the program this week. Dangerously says they are looking into getting into the Lightweight division.
3.) Madusa comes out for an interview with Ross and Dangerously. Dangerously gives Madusa some flowers for joining them on the program. They are saying the bikini contest will determine the first woman of WCW. They are seriously giving this some airtime. Missy Hyatt gets fired up and says she was in WCW before Madusa and will be there after Madusa. Madusa says that Hyatt is blowing hot air. Madusa says she has class that Hyatt doesn’t have. Madusa takes off her clothes and reveals her bikini. Hyatt throws her shoes at Madusa and begins to undress until security escorts her out of the arena.
4.) The main event appears to have about forty minutes of television time, so this could last a little while here.
5.) Windham takes Anderson over with an arm drag and Anderson backs away to stall for a few moments. Arn bails to the floor after a shoulder block and near fall because he can’t get any momentum going in his favor. Barry gets out of a head scissors and decks Windham with a right hand. Arn gets out of a head scissors but again is met with a right hand and bails to the floor again to regroup. Arn returns to the ring and hammers away on Windham a few times before sending him to the floor and misses a left hand punch hitting the ring post instead. Windham wraps the left arm around the ring post a couple of times and stalks after Dangerously before they return to the ring. Windham hammers away on Anderson’s arm and drives his knee down across the arm.
Anderson fights back with a few strikes to stop Barry but gets a kick to the chest. Windham works over Anderson’s arm again to keep control of the match. Windham continues to wrench on the arm following an arm drag. Anderson rams his shoulder into Barry’s midsection. Windham ducks a clothesline and puts a sleeper hold on Arn until a jaw breaker ends that. Anderson kicks the legs of Windham and goes to the floor to wrap Barry’s leg around the ring post! Windham heads to the top rope but Anderson stops him with a few strikes. Anderson hooks Barry but is shoved off and Windham hits a top rope clothesline to get a three count and wins the first fall. Windham gets a 1-0 lead in the best two out of three falls match.
Anderson takes Windham down to the mat and stomps on the leg but misses an elbow drop. Windham hammers away on Anderson and goes back to work on the injured arm of Arn. Barry decks Anderson with a right hand to knock him to the apron. Anderson attempts a suplex from the apron to the floor but Windham counters with a suplex into the ring. Windham scoop slams Anderson with a hammerlock for a near fall. Anderson avoids a cross body causing Barry to fly over the top rope and crashes to the floor. Dangerously has his telephone on the floor and distracts Windham to allow Anderson to come over from behind and decks Barry to keep control of the contest. Anderson begins to focus his attack on the lower back of Windham with knee lifts to send Barry off the apron. Dangerously hits Windham on the back with his telephone while the referee was distracted.
Arn continues his offense with a scoop slam and stomps on the lower back of Windham before locking in a chin lock. Windham sends Anderson chest first into the corner and attempts a scoop slam but Anderson lands on top for a near fall. Arn keeps Barry on the canvas with a body scissors. Windham runs into a big boot in the corner and crashes to the canvas. Anderson goes to the middle rope awaiting for Windham and hits a double axe handle to the lower back. Windham gets out of a Boston crab and nearly pins Anderson with a rollup. Anderson uses the ropes for leverage while having an abdominal stretch on Windham. Barry gets out of the hold with a hip toss but misses an elbow drop. Anderson plants Windham with a spine buster and pins Windham to tie the match at 1-1.
Windham hammers away on Anderson in the corner to start the final fall. Windham avoids an atomic drop and decks Anderson with a right hand for a two count. Windham spikes Anderson with a cradle piledriver but Dangerously puts Arn’s foot on the bottom rope. Anderson hits Barry on the knee a few times to regain control of the match. Anderson puts the figure four on Windham while using the ropes for leverage. Windham rolls over on the hold but neither man gives in as Anderson reaches the bottom rope. Windham blocks a middle rope splash by getting his knees up. Windham hammers away on Anderson with several right hands and Anderson goes over the top to the floor. They return to the ring where Barry keeps control with right hands and a clothesline for a two count. Windham puts Anderson on the top turnbuckle but Steve Austin comes out and attacks Windham. Anderson hits a middle rope axe handle and Windham is double teamed. (***1/4. Aside from the cheap finish, I really enjoyed that match. There was some hard hitting action and both men came across as even wrestlers. Considering how much time they were given I didn’t feel like it was dragging along at any point.)
Final Thoughts:
There wasn’t much developing on this episode, but the main event carries this to a good episode.
Thanks for reading.
