Matches:
1.) WCW US Tag Team Champions Greg Valentine & Terry Taylor defeated Scott Allen & Danny Posten
2.) Michael Hayes & Jimmy Garvin defeated Diamond Dallas Page & Richard Morton
3.) Dustin Rhodes defeated Bobby Eaton
4.) Big Van Vader fought Nikita Koloff to a double count-out in the WCW Nintendo Top Ten Challenge Tournament
Angle Developments/Notes:
1.) Tony Schiavone conducted an interview with Ricky Steamboat. Steamboat talks about his personal issues and the injury he had thanks to Rick Rude. Steamboat talks about Madusa saying that Steamboat has been sexually harassing her in recent weeks. Ricky says that he sent a message to Dangerously and Madusa by spitting fire saying his flame has not been put out. Ricky is coming for the WCW United States Championship that Rick Rude currently holds.
2.) Dustin and Bobby go at each other on the aisle way before the bell can officially be rung. Eaton avoids being in the ring with Dustin right afterward and stalls on the floor as the bell sounds. Eaton works over Rhodes with a right hand but Dustin quickly decks Eaton with a punch. Rhodes controls Eaton with a hammerlock and decks Eaton to the floor. Rhodes sends Eaton back first into the post from the apron and clotheslines Bobby to the floor from the apron. Bobby sends Dustin chest first into the guard railing following a knee lift. Eaton controls Rhodes with a head scissors on the canvas and uses extra leverage from Dangerously. Bobby decks Dustin with a lariat but they trade strikes with Rhodes dropping Eaton with an elbow strike. Rhodes hits a clothesline and pins Eaton with a rollup. After the match, Eaton attacks Dustin and Diamond Studd enters but clotheslines Eaton on accident. Rhodes dropkicks Studd to the floor and stands tall. (*1/4. Not as good as the previous match they had but the brawling on the floor was enjoyable.)
3.) Tony Schiavone interviews WCW United States Champion Rick Rude and Madusa. Rude says that Steamboat spits nothing but lies. Rude says that Steamboat’s eyes show hunger to be the WCW United States Champion. Rude says that in order to get everything he has, Steamboat has to go through him and he doesn’t believe that Steamboat can do it.
4.) Nikita Koloff has Dusty Rhodes by his side as Vader has Harley Race at ringside. Dusty and Harley have a brawl on the floor and head backstage. Vader attacks Koloff from behind on the aisle way as Nikita had gone to check on the situation. Vader sends Koloff chest first into the guard railing. Vader works over Koloff in the ring with several strikes. Vader drops Koloff with a clothesline and locks in a sharpshooter while yelling out Sting’s name. Nikita struggles but reaches the ropes to break the hold. Vader nails Koloff with a short arm clothesline. Vader sends Koloff to the floor and quickly follows. Nikita blocks being sent into the railing and sends Vader face first into the railing a couple of times. Koloff works over Vader in the corner upon their return to the ring. Koloff scoop slams Vader and plays to the crowd. Vader avoids a dropkick by hanging onto the ropes and hits a big splash but Koloff kicks out at two. Vader splashes Koloff in the corner and delivers a few strikes. Vader power slams Koloff but can’t get a three count on the cover attempt. Vader clubs away on Koloff in the corner with several strikes. Koloff avoids a splash in the corner and strikes Vader several times. Koloff clotheslines Vader over the top to the floor, but no disqualification is called for. They both are on the floor brawling which leads to a double count-out. (*1/2. There were some entertaining moments but not overwhelmingly fun or exciting. They had some decent brawling segments but it wasn’t overly positive.) After the match, Harley Race returns and helps Vader attack Koloff with big splashes. Dusty Rhodes didn’t come out for the save.
Final Thoughts:
The angle advancement between Steamboat and Rude was the best part of the program. The matches didn’t deliver anything of entertainment, really.
