Opening Contest: Faku vs. Steve Crow: Crow attacks Faku from behind, but misses several clotheslines. Faku hits a full nelson slam and a powerslam for a two count. Crow hammers away on Faku against the ropes. Crow nails Faku with a clothesline to maintain control of the match. Crow tosses Faku to the floor and follows to deck Faku with a strike. Faku sends Crow into the ring steps and whacks Crow over the head with a steel chair shot. Faku drops Crow over the guard railing, as well. Faku rams Crow face first onto a steel chair on the floor. Crow whacks Faku over the back with a steel chair shot. Crow rolls Faku into the ring to gain control. Crow nails Faku with a back elbow strike and a knee drop for a two count. Crow slams Faku for a two count. Faku nails Crow with a savant kick and hits a reverse DDT for the win. (1/2*. There wasn’t much here to care about. The action was rather sloppy and mostly uninteresting.)
Al Getz cuts a promo from backstage and says that he’s dedicated to the Boogaloo Crew. Getz promises they are going to the top with the titles. Getz assures us that they are staying on top because whatever Al wants, Al gets.
Second Contest: Sex Pistols (David & Shane Young) vs. Triple X (Drake Dawson & Curtis Thompson): This match is from the NWA 51st Anniversary Show. Triple X won the match after a double spinebuster on Chad Young. I was not expecting the Sex Pistols would lose here, at all. Al Getz is on commentary and says that he was impressed by the Sex Pistols.
Third Contest: Chief Jay Eagle vs. TJ Gray: Eagle hammers away on Gray several times followed by a clothesline in the corner and plays to the crowd. Gray gains control following a scoop slam and dropkicks Eagle to the floor. Eagle returns to the ring to get a rollup for a two count. Eagle yanks Gray down by the hair for another near fall. Eagle continues with an overhand chop in the corner and nails Gray with a big boot for a near fall. Eagle puts a wrist lock on Gray, but doesn’t get submission. Gray counters and takes Eagle down to the mat to deliver a leg drop to the arm. Gray focuses his offense on the left arm of Eagle until Eagle reaches the ropes to cause a rope break. They do a test of strength where Gray gets control and stomps on Eagle’s hands. Eagle responds with a chop and a locks in a sleeper. Eagle hits a leg drop and goes back to a sleeper. Gray breaks free with a jawbreaker. Gray hip tosses Eagle and follows up with a dropkick. Gray covers, but Eagle kicks out at two. Eagle chops Gray against the ropes followed by a right hand. Eagle chokes Gray in the corner and takes Gray down with a snapmare. They trade pin attempts until Gray goes back to arm control. Gray almost wins with a rollup, but Eagle reaches the ropes. Gray splashes Eagle in the corner, but runs into a big boot. Eagle covers Gray with his feet on the ropes to win the match. (1/2*. That sucked and I don’t understand Gray losing when he won a match in the Wildside title tournament. I’m hoping that Eagle isn’t going to be regular here.)
Romeo Bliss and Candy make their way down to the ring for an interview. Romeo loosens up his tie because the Jesse Taylor party is over after he dumped booze on Taylor last week. Romeo puts over Tim Dix as a great commentator. Bliss says he’s going to have to get in Taylor’s personal business. Bliss asks Dix how the title should be determined and it’s by the best wrestler in the ring. Romeo says Taylor can’t handle Romeo. Jesse Taylor enters the ring and backdrops Romeo followed by a slam. Taylor pummels Bliss with right hands and a powerslam. Taylor hits a belly to belly suplex and strips Romeo’s pants off to reveal Bliss in his underwear. Bliss is embarrassed and pissed off.
Fourth Contest: Mr. Extreme vs. White Trash vs. Damien Steele: The match is joined in progress after a commercial break. Extreme setup several tables on the floor and is knocked off the apron by Trash and crashes through a table. There is some hardcore brawling done throughout the crowd. Extreme and Steele work together to beat on Trash around ringside for a few moments. Steele hits belly to belly suplex on Trash, but Extreme gets in the ring. Extreme and Trash are on the floor where Extreme has several tables setup. Trash is laid onto the two tables and is splashed through the tables by Steele and Extreme. Extreme rolls Trash into the ring, but Steele steals the victory. (*1/2. It’s just some hardcore wrestling, but the double splash through the tables on the floor was a nice spot.) After the match, Ruckus comes out and has a brawl with Extreme until security and referees keep them apart.
Fifth Contest: NWA World Champion Naoya Ogawa vs. Gary Steele vs. Brian Anthony: This match is also from the NWA 51st Anniversary Show. Steele tries to take Ogawa down to the mat, but fails miserably. Anthony bails to the floor to avoid Ogawa strikes. Ogawa puts a choke on Steele, but Anthony gets in the ring to stop the offense. Steele hits a suplex on Ogawa and keeps brief control on the mat. Anthony bails to the floor again to avoid Ogawa. Steele takes Ogawa down for a moment and they have a standoff. Ogawa kicks Steele on the mat and locks in an abdominal stretch on the mat until Anthony breaks that up. Steele knee lifts Ogawa and sends the champ to the floor. Anthony slams Steele followed by an elbow drop off the ropes for a two count. Steele gets a two count on Anthony with a fisherman suplex, but Ogawa made the save on the cover. Ogawa kicks Steele on the leg and locks in an arm bar. Ogawa knocks Anthony down with a tackle and locks in an abdominal stretch to submit Anthony. Steele surprises Ogawa with a rollup and wins the match. (1/2*. That match sucked and the fans didn’t like it either. There wasn’t much action and it didn’t present well, at all. For what it’s worth, Steele held the championship for a week before losing the title back to Ogawa and it happened well before this show even aired.)
Jeff G. Bailey can’t believe it’s Ed Swimmer again since Swimmer has gotten destroyed by several guys in his group already. Bailey thinks it is an embarrassment for his men to be in the ring with Swimmer. Bailey wants competition in the form of Ruckus. Bailey suggests the stretcher be ready.
Main Event: Ed Swimmer vs. Ice Pick: Pick starts off with a powerslam and a press slam. Pick nails Swimmer with a dropkick of the ropes. Ruckus comes out to ringside and distracts Pick. Swimmer comes up from behind and gets a rollup on Pick to get the surprise win! After the match, Stone Mountain attacks Ruckus. Pick, Vic Violent and K-Krush run into the ring to attack Ruckus. Bad, Black & Beautiful slide into the ring to make the save to end the show.
Final Thoughts:
I’d consider this a lackluster show overall. I didn’t like the triple threat NWA World Championship match as it doesn’t serve a purpose for Wildside.
Thanks for reading.
