Footage from last week where Andy Anderson beat Rick Michaels is shown. There’s also footage of the Ruckus/Krush brawl and Triple B getting involved to take out Stone Mountain.
Steve Martin and Bill Behrens are on commentary and they are still promoting Fright Night, which as you can tell by the date of this show, has now happened two weeks ago. We also see footage of David Young’s attack on JC Dazz, but the Road Hogs made the save. I’ve yet to see the Road Hogs, I believe.
Al Getz and the Boogalloo Crew are interviewed. Getz says that it’s not enough that they are the NCW Tag Champs. They want all the gold and he’s been working on a surprise. Getz says that since the match will not be on television they can do whatever they want. Wrenn asks if Getz is going to be there. Wrenn is calling out Getz for not being there when they’ve been getting their asses kicked. Getz reminds Wrenn of what he’s been doing for them. Al wants blood and guts at Fright Night and he’s going to get it.
Opening Contest: Dusty Dotson vs. Frenchy Rivera: Rivera drops to his knees to taunt Dotson and Dotson responds with right hands. Dotson avoids a splash in the corner and elbows strikes Rivera in the corner. Dotson decks Rivera’s manager off the apron, as well. Rivera controls Dotson with a headlock for a few moments. Rivera drives Dotson down to the mat with a side slam. Rivera climbs the ropes and tries for a moonsault, but Dotson manages to roll out of the way and covers Rivera, but the referee is pulled out of the ring by Rivera’s manager. Dotson takes out both men with a springboard moonsault to the floor. Rivera manages to send Dotson ton the floor. Rivera leaps off the apron to clothesline Dotson on the floor. Rivera rams Dotson into the corner several times. Rivera is stopped on the top by Dotson. Dotson hits a top rope hurricanrana and pins Rivera for the win. (*1/2. Well, I may not like this Dotson gimmick, but Dotson clearly has some good moves. I hope the Dusty part of his character is dropped soon.) After the match, Rivera doesn’t accept the upset loss well and attacks Dotson hitting a splash before leaving the ring.
Second Contest: Stone Mountain vs. Thunder: Thunder puts a headlock on Mountain, but Thunder breaks free and tries to shoulder block Mountain and fails. Mountain scoop slams Thunder to the mat. Thunder gets out of a hold by hitting a stunner and Mountain bails to the floor. They brawl on the floor trading right hands. Thunder sends Mountain into the barricade before returning to the ring. They trade right hands in the middle of the ring. The referee ends up being decked by both men. Thunder clotheslines Mountain and Mountain bails to the floor. The referee is calling for the bell. (NR.)
Jeff G. Bailey is giving Thunder a second chance to work with him again. Bailey says that if Thunder doesn’t rejoin him then something bad will happen to Thunder and his family!
Backstage, Romeo Bliss cuts a promo about Candy being on the line in his match with Jesse Taylor. Bliss lives a lifestyle that Chance and Behrens hate. Bliss describes making love to a woman after winning the title. Bliss is going to sniff panties, too.
Third Contest: Ruckus vs. Damien Steele in a hardcore match: Steele hits Ruckus a chair shot several times for the early advantage. Ruckus hits a modified Rock Bottom for a near fall. They brawl into the crowd using various weapons on each other by the concession stand. Steele kicks a chair into Ruckus face. Steele sends Ruckus into the ring post. Steele slams Ruckus on the floor and sets up a table. Ruckus recovers and lays Steele onto the table. Ruckus leaps off the top hitting a leg drop through the table. Ruckus slams Steele to the mat. Ruckus has been busted wide open. K-Krush is at ringside with a steel chair. Ruckus is distracted by Jeff G. Bailey at ringside. Ruckus leaps off the top to hit a diving headbutt, but Krush puts the chair onto Steele to knockout Ruckus. Steele covers Ruckus and wins the match despite Ruckus putting his foot on the bottom rope. (*1/2. I was not expecting Ruckus to lose this match even with the screw job. Ruckus comes across as if he’s an unstoppable force. Thus, seeing him lose is kind of weird.)
Ruckus cuts a promo saying that he’s had enough and that Krush is his on October 30th. Ruckus is taking Krush out before he can make it to the WWF.
Fourth Contest: Adam Jacobs vs. Fast Track: Jacobs backs Track into a corner, but cleanly backs off. Track gains wrist control before hitting a hip toss for a two count. Track tosses Jacobs to the mat and hits an arm drag. Jacobs forearms Track a few times. Jacobs dropkicks Track coming off the ropes. Jacobs hits a vertical suplex for a two count. Track counters Jacobs with another arm drag and keeps arm control on the mat. Jacobs counters and almost wins with a rollup. Jacobs decks Track with a clothesline and a leaping elbow strike for a two count. Jacobs jabs Track in the corner, but misses a splash in the corner. Track backdrops Jacobs coming off the ropes. Track keeps a front face lock on Jacobs and hits a dropkick for a two count. Track puts a sleeper on Jacobs. Jacobs elbows free, but is met with a knee lift to the midsection. Track works over Jacobs with a strike over the back followed by a DDT. Track leaps off the top doing a 450 and then does a somersault to clothesline Jacobs and leads to a pin. (**. The finishing move was absolutely bizarre. Track didn’t need to do that at all to lead into a clothesline. The announcers tried to play it off as a momentum thing, but he came to a complete stop, which ends any momentum. This is Jacobs debut and he didn’t really get a chance to shine all that much, but they both displayed some good counter wrestling throughout.)
Main Event: NCW Television Champion AJ Styles vs. Jorge Estrada: They shake hands to show respect for each other. Styles gains control with a side headlock. Styles kicks Estrada followed by a clothesline. Styles continues with a forearm strike, but Estrada arm drags Styles a few times. They counter each other with waist locks in the middle of the ring. Styles takes Estrada over with a German suplex. Styles forearms Estrada in the corner and misses a splash hitting the turnbuckle chest first. Estrada knee drops Styles on the arm and keeps control with a top wrist lock. Styles takes Estrada down with another wrist lock and leg drops Estrada on the arm. Estrada backdrops Styles followed by a stomp to the back. Estrada locks in a bow and arrow and pulls back on Styles arms. Estrada knee lifts Styles and tosses Styles into the corner. Styles powerbombs Estrada out of the corner. Styles powerslams Estrada to the mat and hits a springboard moonsault. Styles forearms Estrada in the corner, but Estrada comes back with an elbow in the corner. Estrada stomps Styles in the corner, but runs into a big boot. Styles hits a snap suplex on Estrada. Styles nails Estrada with a dropkick, but Estrada fights back with a few strikes. The show goes to commercial. We come back and Rick Michaels attacks AJ Styles with Mark Phor Michaels. Rick tells Estrada to help him, but Estrada fights them both off to help Styles. Andy Anderson slides into the ring and attacks Mark. Styles pummels Rick on the mat. David Young slides into the ring and goes after Estrada. Scottie Wrenn and Damien Steele come into the ring. Terry Lawler and Ruckus get in the ring. Stone Mountain enters as does K-Krush. There’s a massive brawl to end the show. (**. The match was going fine and the massive brawl is fine to make it seem as if everything is out of control in Wildside. I wouldn’t mind seeing Estrada and Styles team up against Mark and Rick on TV.)
Final Thoughts:
I’m really hoping this is the last episode where they are promoting a show that has already happened and the context doesn’t matter. It’s a solid show, but it loses it’s purpose knowing that I know what happened at the show they are promoting.
Thanks for reading.
