A solid match and a huge victory for McChesney as Punk is wrapping up his indie run at this point. Considering it’s a tournament setting there wasn’t much in terms of intensity or drama here. They kind of kept it simple and they executed it fairly well.) After the match, they shake hands and Punk shows respect to McChesney. Punk grabs a microphone and puts over McChesney and Chris Candido, who recently passed away. The crowd chants for Candido.

Prior to the next match, Christopher Daniels says he’s not wrestling in a Super Indy Tournament because he’s the NWA-TNA X-Division Champion. Daniels isn’t going to win the tournament and TNA isn’t going to allow their champion to do a clean job. Thus, there has to be a DQ finish and we are saddled with this BS finish.)

Xion heads to the top rope and hits a corkscrew dive, but Homicide moves out of the way and Xion hits Maverick instead, I think. Homicide decks Xion with a lariat and wins the match. (**1/2. I’m thinking the match was cut a little short because Xion crashed hard on the dive to the floor. I was expecting a bit more from these two, but I’m also aware that Xion is fairly new at this point in his career. Homicide’s slams to Xion sounded like they hurt with the thud and the crowd got more invested in the match once that happened.)

Gory is a solid worker, don’t get it wrong. The crowd responded well to Ki demolishing Gory.)

Eaton backdrops Hamrick coming off the ropes and Condrey flapjacks Hamrick. A female gets on the apron to distract Condrey and kisses her. Smothers accidentally decks her off the apron and Condrey rolls Smothers up to win the match and retain the titles. (*. I mean it would be a little silly to expect this to be a classic match. It’s cool to see the Midnight Express compete in 2005, but it’s just a nostaliga match for them. Southern Comfort didn’t get much of a shine here, and it’s a shame. They are one of the more underrated tag teams during this time on the indies.) After the match, the woman slaps Smothers and she celebrates with Midnight Express. Hentai and Sebastian Dark end up coming out and attacking the Midnight Express. Smothers and Hamrick return to make the save. Hamrick spikes Hentai with a sit out piledriver. McChesney kicks Spectre and hits another TKO and this time gets the three count. (**1/2. I’ll say that Spectre is an interesting wrestler. Spectre provides some comedy, but he’s clearly got some talent in there as well. McChesney is the right decision to win since I feel like Super Indy is an in-ring based tournament and McChesney is a stronger worker and would likely have a better match with Homicide or Low Ki. However, Spectre performing his offense with Low Ki would provide unintentional comedy, I’m sure.)

These two have wrestled each other several times and with each other in JAPW and other promotions. The hard hitting action continues to get a crowd reaction and they worked a good match. The finish may be seen a little cheap, but it’s a good match full of hard hitting action.)

That was one of the sloppiest matches I can remember seeing. The World Championship match on indie shows should be involving seasoned in-ring workers and that was not the case here, at all. They look like fools compared to the guys involved in the Super Indy Tournament. Doe and Lords are IWC guys and this kind of showing hurts the image of IWC’s title scene.)

McChesney covers Ki leading to a near fall. Ki elbows free, but McChesney strikes Ki into the corner. Ki chops McChesney and delivers another vicious dropkick into the corner two times! Ki heads to the top rope looking for the Ghetto Stomp. Ki decides against going to the top and instead puts a choke on McChesney. McChesney fades in the middle of the ring, but his arm doesn’t drop three times. Ki continues to choke McChesney. McChesney uses the ropes and pushes off to land on top of Ki to pickup the win! (***1/2. The finish is obviously inspired by Hart/Piper at Mania 8, but not executed as cleanly. Despite that, it’s a good match and perhaps a breakout moment for McChesney in IWC. Low Ki sold himself as a hard hitting badass and McChesney overcoming that should cement him as a top guy for IWC moving forward. For having competed in two matches prior to this, they did a great job providing entertainment in the finals.)

Final Thoughts:
Super Indy IV is a decent overall show with a rather impressive showcase by Low Ki throughout the show. There’s some worthwhile action between Ki/Homicide and Ki/McChesney. I’ll give the show a mild thumbs up.
