Backstage, AAW Heavyweight Champion Silas Young cuts a promo on Jimmy Jacobs wondering how any man would reference themselves as Jimmy. Young says that Jacobs is getting what he wanted in a title match. Young notes that Jacobs has beaten him twice recently, but says that Jacobs has a false sense of reality. Young doesn’t care about losing in a tag match. Tonight is what counts and matters. Young says he’s bigger, stronger and faster than Jacobs. Young knows that he’s smarter than Jacobs, too. Young says that Jacobs will lose tonight because he’s simply better than Jacobs.
Opening Contest: Jay Bradley vs. Kyle O’Reilly: O’Reilly kicks Bradley on the leg to start the match, but doesn’t followup as Bradley shakes off the kick. Bradley knee lifts and forearms O’Reilly in the corner a few times. Bradley hip tosses O’Reilly out of the corner, but runs into a dropkick. O’Reilly kicks Bradley several times to get the advantage. Bradley tosses O’Reilly to the floor and O’Reilly hits the guard railing. Bradley rams O’Reilly into the apron, but O’Reilly tries to fight back with strikes on the floor. Bradley strikes O’Reilly over the apron several times. Bradley scoop slams O’Reilly followed by a knee drop. O’Reilly forearms Bradley a few times. Bradley rams O’Reilly into the corner. Bradley chops O”Reilly in the corner followed by several headbutts and more chops. Bradley boots O’Reilly in the corner. Bradley takes O’Reilly over with a snap suplex. Bradley covers O”Reilly for a two count. O’Reilly sends Bradley into the corner and misses a splash. Bradley nails O’Reilly with a running big boot in the corner. Bradley signals for the lariat, but O’Reilly nails Bradley with a few kicks to stagger Bradley into the corner. O’Reilly forearms Bradley in the corner followed by a running boot. O’Reilly spikes Bradley with a tornado DDT out of the corner. O’Reilly heads to the top to hit a missile dropkick for a near fall. O”Reilly kicks Bradley several times, but Bradley nails O’Reilly with a stiff knee shot followed by a running lariat to win the match. (**1/2. I enjoyed that quick match. Bradley is a hoss and his offense looked great. Bradley kind of reminds me of a young JBL. O’Reilly looked great in his brief spurt of offense. Obviously O’Reilly would go on to have a successful career.)
Second Contest: Flip Kendrick vs. Gran Akuma vs. Jigsaw vs. Hallowicked vs. Louis Lyndon vs. Trik Davis: Lyndon and Davis kickoff the match with Davis getting a headlock followed by an arm drag and shoulder block. Lyndon arm drags Davis to keeps arm control on the mat. Davis puts a head scissors on Lyndon on the mat, but doesn’t get a submission. Davis almost gets a pin on several pin attempts, as does Lyndon and there’s a standoff. Lyndon avoids clotheslines and headbutts Davis on the knee. Lyndon hits a hurricanrana out of the corner and arm drags Davis. Lyndon kicks Davis on the back followed by a kneeling dropkick. Akuma dropkicks Lyndon to the floor. Hallowicked enters and arm drags Akuma into the corner followed by a missed dropkick. Hallowicked head scissors Akuma leading to Jigsaw hitting a top rope hurricanrana. Jigsaw forearms Kendrick, but Kendrick arm drags Jigsaw into teh corner. Jigsaw forearms Kendrick a few times. Kendrick misses a dropkick and Jigsaw arm drags Kendrick several times. Jigsaw manages a two count on a rollup. Jigsaw drives Kendrick down with a Gory Special. Hallowicked kicks Davis while Jigsaw was in a submission by Davis. Lyndon hits a corkscrew dive to the floor onto everyone.
Jigsaw hits a somersault dive to the floor onto everyone on the floor. Kendrick hits a corkscrew dive to the floor onto everyone. Davis and Lyndon are in the ring where Lyndon delivers several strikes. Davis sends Lyndon into the middle rope and drives Lyndon down to the mat face first, but Jigsaw breaks the cover. Jigsaw elbows and kicks Davis in the corner. Davis avoids a top rope move by Jigsaw. Jigsaw superkicks Davis, but Akuma breaks the cover. Akuma and Jigsaw roll through rollup attempts. Akuma hits tombstone turned into a gut buster for a near fall. Lyndon kicks Akuma in the corner followed by a running kick, but Hallowicked breaks the cover. Hallowicked nails Lyndon with a GTS kick to the ribs for a near fall. Kendrick made the save, but Hallowicked elbows Kendrick a few times. Hallowicked is kicked by Kendrick and Kendrick hits a tornado DDT. Kendrick is kicked to the floor by Akuma. Akuma kicks Hallowicked, but Hallowicked hits a hurricanrana on Akuma. Hallowicked plants Akuma with a sit out spinebuster to pin Akuma. (**1/2. These kinds of matches are tough to review, but it was full of action and the high spots to the floor got a pop from the crowd. Hallowicked didn’t seem to get a big reaction for winning as he’s in line for a AAW Heavyweight title match now. I feel like Akuma or Lyndon were two guys that the crowd were more invested in.)
Backstage, Jimmy Jacobs cuts a promo. Jacobs says that Silas Young hasn’t won a match since winning the AAW Heavyweight Championship. Jacobs thinks the first title defense for Silas will be his last one tonight. Jacobs will consider Young’s title a reign a fluke. Jacobs dares Silas to leave Irish Airbone backstage and Jacobs will be a 2x AAW Heavyweight Champion.
In the ring, Chandler McClure is blindfolded and he’s in there to celebrate his birthday. McClure says that every time there’s a cake someone goes through it and he’s not going through it. McClure bails on his own birthday party, but Colt Cabana comes out to join the segment. Cabana knocks out McClure’s cronies as McClure is left holding the cake. Cabana attacks McClure on the floor, as well. Cabana puts McClure face first into the cake. Cabana rolls McClure into the ring, but Arik Cannon attacks Cabana from behind. Cannon cuts a promo about carrying the belt for fourteen months and stomps Cabana several times. Cannon nails Cabana with a shining wizard. Johnny Gargano runs into the ring with a referee wanting his title match right now.
Third Contest: AAW Heritage Champion Colt Cabana vs. Johnny Gargano: Gargano goes for the cover, but Cabana kicks out at two. Gargano can’t believe it. Gargano works over Cabana with strikes into the ropes. Gargano decks Cabana to the mat. Cabana staggers to the apron and is choked over the ropes. Cabana strikes Gargano, but is knocked to the mat. Gargano dropkicks Cabana on the mat for a two count. Cabana hits a back suplex to stop Gargano’s momentum. Cabana sends Gargano into the corner, but runs into a boot. Gargano chokes Cabana in the corner. Gargano dropkicks a kneeling Cabana. Cabana forearms Gargano a few times and hits a modified DDT. Cabana strikes Gargano several times. Cabana ducks a clothesline and punches Gargano several times. Cabana jabs Gargano several times, but Gargano delivers a shoulder ram. Cabana nails Gargano with an elbow strike and covers Gargano for a two count. Gargano drives Cabana into the corner, but is kicked away. Cabana hits a rolling fisherman suplex for a near fall. Cabana chops Gargano a few times. Gargano misses a superkick, but eventually hits a cutter for a two count. Gargano knee strikes Cabana, but is met with a forearm strike by Cabana. Gargano knee strikes Cabana on the back and hits a spinning flatliner out of the corner for a near fall. Cabana sends Gargano to the apron and delivers a kick. Cabana counters a spear by getting his knees up. Garganoa avoids a splash to kick Cabana in the corner. Cabana stops Gargano on the top rope and drops Gargano gut first on the top turnbuckle. Cabana hits a splash and hits a backbreaker to win the match. (**. Gargano didn’t come across as a viable contender to the title and he hasn’t even won a match in AAW to this point to justify a title match anyway. Cabana’s backbreaker was a fine finishing move something that he tends to struggle to have, I’ve noticed.)
Fourth Contest: Davey Richards vs. Super Crazy: Richards kicks Crazy and rips up a fans sign that Crazy had grabbed. Richards continues to work over Crazy with strikes in the corner. Richards dumps Crazy to the apron, but is met with a forearm. Crazy missile dropkicks Richards into a corner. Crazy forearms Richards several times and delivers a kick to the chest. Richards knee lifts Crazy coming off the ropes. Richards stomps Crazy and chokes Crazy over the middle rope. Richards headbutts Crazy into the corner and delivers a few strikes to the midsection. Crazy slides to the floor and rolls back into the ring. Crazy hits a spinning heel kick to stop Richards momentum. Crazy forearms Richards several times to the mat. Crazy rams Richards into the corner, but Richards stops Crazy with a spinning elbow strike. Crazy puts the tarantula on Richards in the corner, but it’s not a legal move even though there’s no DQ in AAW. Crazy puts an octopus on Richards, but Richards counters with a double leg slam. Richards follows Crazy to the floor to continue the match and sends Crazy into the crowd. Richards beats on Crazy with strikes and an eye rake on the floor. Richards tries for a snap suplex, but Crazy counters with a suplex of his own on the floor. Richards eye rakes Crazy and delivers a backbreaker before trying for a Boston Crab. Richards gets the hold locked in, but Crazy doesn’t submit. Richards stomps on Crazy’s hands.
Richards stomps on Crazy’s elbow to hyperextend his elbow. Crazy fights back and locks in a surfboard, but Richards doesn’t submit. Richards knee lifts Crazy and continues with a forearm into the corner. Richards runs into a boot in the corner and Crazy hits a running dropkick. Crazy hits a standing moonsault for a two count. Richards stops Crazy with a jawbreaker and is dumped to the apron. Richards dragon screw leg whips Crazy over the middle rope and hits a missile dropkick. Richards nails Crazy with a handspring kick for a near fall. Richards ducks a clothesline and Crazy nearly wins with a rollup. Richards nails Crazy with a kick to the chest and hits the DR Driver for the win. (**. I’m wondering if Crazy got hurt somewhere because right after the pin he was talking to the referee about something. I was intrigued by this match because Crazy was one of my favorites in ECW and Richards is a guy I tend to enjoy a lot on the indies. It felt like this never truly got going to the fullest potential and I’m thinking it was cut short for some reason.)
Earlier tonight, Tyler Black and Shane Hollister were interviewed. Black says this is the beginning for him to get back to the AAW Heavyweight Championship. Black says that Silas Young put a target between his eyes for the plan Young made with Irish Airborne to screw Black and Jacobs out of the title. Hollister chimes in and says that Black continues to have no faith in Hollister. Hollister says he’s going to prove that he’s not some guy at the bottom. Black notes Hollister that always fall a little short and couldn’t beat Arik Cannon or win the tag titles. Black helped build AAW from the ground up. Black wishes Hollister the best of luck. Black walks off, but there is an applause off camera and it’s Danny Daniels. Daniels walks up and tells Hollister that he’ll do great. Daniels notes that he’s wrestling Hollister in a month. Daniels is going to hurt Hollister next month. Daniels wishes Hollister luck tonight.
Fifth Contest: Dan Lawrence & Phoenix Twins (Dash & Tweek) vs. Mason Beck & House Of Truth (Christian Able & Josh Raymond): All six men are brawling on the floor during the entrances of Lawrence and the Twins. They all brawl around ringside for a few moments. Lawrence and Twins get in the ring to stand tall. Lawrence hits a suicide dive to the floor. Beck is clotheslined over the top to the floor. Raymond is backdropped over the railing into the crowd. Lawrence dives over the railing into the crowd. Twins work over Able in the ring as the bell finally sounds. Able is kicked to the mat and is met with a double fist drop. Tweek slams Able followed by a senton and Dash hits a slingshot senton for a near fall. Tweek works over Able in the corner with strikes and ducks a clothesline. Able decks Tweek with a clothesline of his own. Able sends Tweek into Raymond’s boots in the corner. Able dropkicks Tweek in the corner and Raymond hits a splash. Raymond springboard knee drops onto Tweek for a near fall. Beck tags into the match and delivers a stomp to the chest of Tweek. Beck side slams Tweek to the mat for a near fall. Tweek boots Beck in the corner and avoids a clothesline.
Lawrence gets the hot tag and cleans house with strikes. Beck blocks a strike and puts a full nelson on Lawrence. Lawrence breaks free and the Twins come in to hit a couple of bulldogs. Beck stops the Twins, but the Twins hit a double atomic drop and Lawrence hits a bulldog for a near fall. Beck knee lifts Lawrence and tags in Raymond to keep control of the contest. Lawrence avoids a suplex to deliver a dropkick and a running knee. Lawrence clotheslines Raymond and hits a tornado flatliner for a near fall. Lawrence is kicked by Raymond and nailed by Able with a knee strike. Raymond hits a slingshot somersault cutter onto Lawrence for a two count. Lawrence continues to be worked over in the corner as Beck shoulder Lawrence several times. Beck suplexs Lawrence leading to a near fall and stomps Lawrence over the bottom rope. Raymond tags back into the match and chokes Lawrence over the ropes. Raymond tries to get a submission, but Lawrence doesn’t give in. Able returns to the match and spears Lawrence followed by a running kick by Raymond in the corner. Able drops a fist onto Lawrence and puts a Stump Puller on Lawrence, but doesn’t get a submission. Lawrence elbows free from Able, but is met with a clothesline and stomped on the mat. Beck returns to the match and kicks Lawrence in the ribs. Beck casually press slams Lawrence to the mat and punches the Twins off the apron. Able powerbombs Raymond onto Lawrence, but the cover is broken up by the Twins. Able takes Lawrence over with a snap suplex for a two count and keeps a cobra clutch on Lawrence on the mat.
Lawrence fights back with strikes and runs into a spinebuster by Able. Able holds Lawrence allowing Raymond to hit a springboard moonsault for a two count. Able controls Lawrence by tossing Lawrence into the corner. Lawrence kicks Able away, but is stopped by a throat thrust. Able tries for a backbreaker, but Lawrence counters with a head scissors off the middle rope! Beck and Tweek get tagged in with Tweek delivering jabs and flapjack to Raymond. Dash missile dropkicks Beck. Raymond stops Dash with right hands and is pulled to the floor where Dash delivers a baseball slide dropkick. Able stops Dash with a spear. Beck catches Tweek and Lawrence to hit a double fallaway slam. Beck nails Tweek with a big boot. Beck works over Tweek in the corner with right hands, but Tweek responds with strikes. Tweek tries for a hurricanrana, but is caught and powerbombed followed by a superkick by Able. Beck nearly pins Dash, but Tweek breaks the cover. Lawrence prevents the Tower Of Truth. Beck is kicked by Dash. Able knocks Dash off, but is caught by the Twins allowing Lawrence to hit a double stomp and dropkick. Raymond is powerbombed into the corner. Lawrence spikes Raymond with a reverse hurricanrana for a near fall. Val Malone gets on the apron to cause a distraction. Truth Martini eye rakes Lawrence, but misses a splash in the corner. Beck is nailed by a double superkick and rolls to the floor. Able slams Tweek and double leg slams to Dash. Lawrence tags out and Dash superkicks Able followed by a double superkick and that’s enough to pin Able for the win. (**1/4. It seemed to get a bit sloppy towards the end, but it was a decent match. It probably went a little too long, but I’ve seen a lot worse. The crowd doesn’t seem to be interested in the Phoenix Twins in a babyface capacity.)
Backstage, Chandler McClure is pissed off because his birthday was ruined.
Sixth Contest: The Chan Clan (Jordan McEntyre & Knight Wagner) vs. Nick Brubaker & Ryan Boz: Brubaker works over Wagner with a few strikes and a snapmare. Brubaker hits a seated uppercut for a two count. Jordan gets crotched on the ropes and the ropes are shaked. Wagner gains control with a side Russian leg sweep on Brubaker and comes off the ropes to deliver a quick leg drop for a two count. Jordan enters to stomp Brubaker a few times. Brubaker tries for a sunset flip, but is stopped by a double stomp and a springboard moonsault for a two count. Wagner returns to the match and kicks Brubaker in the midsection. Wagner kicks Brubaker and boots Brubaker to the floor. Boz enters to deliver a double clothesline and a gut wrench powerbomb on Wagner. Boz tosses Jordan with an overhead suplex. Shane Hollister attacks Danny Daniels on the floor. Hollister distracts Boz and runs away backstage. Brubaker is left alone in the ring. Brubaker kicks Wagner for a two count as Jordan breaks the cover. Brubaker stomps Wagner and decks Teddy Wisdom. Jordan knee strikes Brubaker and they hit an elevated DDT for the win. (*. Felt like a filler match with the focus being more so on Hollister’s involvement. As soon as Boz was taken out of the equation it seemed obvious how this was going to go.) After the match, Boz returns to hit the Boz Driver on both Jordan and Wagner. Daniels spikes Brubaker with a piledriver.
Backstage, Jim Lyman is interviewed for a moment, but Krotch enters the scene about needing a partner. Lince Dorado is upset about not having a match. Lyman does the obvious and makes them a team for tonight.
Seventh Contest: Irish Airborne (Jake & Dave Crist) vs. Zero Gravity (Brett Gakiya & CJ Esparza): Zero Gravity hit stereo dives to the floor to kickoff the match. Jake is met with a double drop toe hold and splashes. Dave is nailed by a double clothesline for a two count. Dave sends Gakiya into the referee in the corner. Gakiya fights back with strikes out of the corner, but is yanked down to the mat by Jake. Dave knocks CJ off the apron, but Gakiya head scissors Jake only to run into a leg lariat for a two count. Dave double stomps Gakiya from the top rope and keeps control with strikes in the corner. Jake hits a snap suplex and gets a two count. Jake and Dave double team Gakiya leading to a near fall. Dave keeps Gakiya on the mat for a moment with a headlock. Dave splashes Gakiya in the corner and hits an overhead suplex for a two count by Jake. Jake keeps a front face lock on Brett for a few moments. Dave enters the match and delivers several strikes before getting a two count. Dave knee lifts Brett and delivers a chop in the corner. Dave misses a spear in the corner and Brett hits a hurricanrana and gets a rollup for a near fall. CJ gets the hot tag and cleans house with dropkicks. CJ nails Dave with a kick and a backdrop for a two count. Dave kicks CJ into the ropes, but is dumped to the floor. Brett takes Dave out with a moonsault to the floor as CJ hit a dive onto Jake on the floor on the opposite side. Zero Gravity double team Dave. CJ hits the Flippy Cup for a two count. Dave is sat onto the top turnbuckle, but is stopped by Jake. Jake is kicked away, but catches CJ. Dave powerbombs CJ off the middle rope, but Brett made the save. CJ hits a springboard senton and goes to the top, but is stopped by Jake. CJ is crotched on the top and Irish Airborne hit the spike piledriver on CJ for the win. (**1/2. Considering the new association with Silas Young it shouldn’t be a surprise for the Irish Airborne to win here. It was a solid tag match and I enjoyed Zero Gravity flying around everywhere while Irish Airborne showcased good intensity throughout the match.)
Eighth Contest: Tyler Black vs. Shane Hollister in a number one contenders match for the AAW Heavyweight Championship: They shake hands to start the match to show respect for each other. Hollister gets wrist control, but Black quickly counters with a headlock. Black takes Hollister down to the mat with a headlock to maintain the early advantage. Hollister counters with a head scissors on the mat. Black quickly counters to get a headlock on Hollister. Hollister counters with a hammerlock, but Black counters with a headlock on the mat. Hollister breaks free, but Black delivers an elbow. Hollister elbows Black coming off the ropes and delivers a rolling kick on the mat for a two count. Hollister forearms Black a few times in the corner. Hollister boots Black in the corner and hits a tornado DDT for a two count. Black rolls to the floor to regroup for a few moments. Black forearms Hollister to avoid a dive to the floor. Black plants Hollister with a back suplex for a two count. Black delivers a chop to stagger Hollister into the corner. Hollister fights back with a few chops to stagger Black. Black nails Hollister with a dropkick coming off the ropes. Black covers Hollister for a two count. Black delivers a few forearm strikes to the Hollister’s lower back and continues with stomps in the corner.
Black tries for a back suplex, but Hollister counters with a northern lights suplex for a two count. Hollister delivers a backbreaker and a neckbreaker. Hollister runs off the ropes to hit a somersault neckbreaker for a two count. Black dumps Hollister over the top to the floor. Black sends Hollister into the railing back first. Black sends Hollister into the railing a second time. Black rolls Hollister into the ring to keep control of the match managing a two count on a cover. Black stomps Hollister on the face. Black atomic drops and stomps Hollister on the mat to maintain the advantage by getting a two count. Black keeps Hollister on the mat with a sleeper. Black pulls back on Hollister’s chin and fish hooks Hollister. Black keeps Hollister on the mat with a headlock. Hollister elbows Black, but is stopped by a few chops. Black nails Hollister with a headbutt. Hollister runs the ropes to deliver a few clotheslines and a spinning heel kick sending Black to the floor. Hollister hits a suicide dive onto Black on the floor. Hollister rolls Black back into the ring and heads to the top rope. Hollister misses a splash attempt and crashes to the mat. Black tries for a cover, but Hollister powers out at two. Black strikes Hollister, but Hollister asks for more strikes. Black forearms Hollister several times, but Hollister delivers an elbow strike and a kick to the midsection. Hollister delivers a curb stomp and a sliding kick for a near fall. Hollister blocks a boot in the corner, but Black elbows Hollister a few times. Hollister delivers a flying knee strike and heads to the top rope. Hollister hits a frog splash for a near fall. Hollister tries for a kick, but Black blocks it. Black kicks Hollister in midair for a two count. Black plants Hollister with an F5 for a two count.
Black goes to the apron and hits a springboard clothesline for a two count. Hollister stops Black with a jawbreaker and they collide on clothesline attempts with neither man budging. Hollister kicks Black into the corner. Black dumps Hollister to the apron and is met with a kick. Hollister climbs to the top, but is dropkicked by Black. Hollister remains laying over the top turnbuckle. Black stops Hollister on the top turnbuckle and they trade strikes. Black strikes Hollister, but Hollister battles back with a few elbows. Black clubs Hollister a few time and tries for a superplex. Black hits the superplex, but Hollister nearly steals the match with a cradle. They trade kicks after stereo clotheslines. Black plants Hollister with a twisting reverse DDT for a near fall. Black sits Hollister on the top turnbuckle and delivers a strike to the back. Hollister elbows Black a few times to stagger Black off. Black kicks Hollister from the apron and delivers a double stomp. Black covers managing a two count. Black tries for a powerbomb, but Hollister hits a hurricanrana sending Black into the corner. Hollister superkicks Black and hits a facebuster. Hollister almost wins with a tilt a whirl clothesline. Hollister gets another two count after a kick to the head. Hollister lowers his knee pad, but Black catches Hollister to deliver a buckle bomb. Hollister is caught, but counters an F5 and gets a cradle to pin Black to win the match! (***1/2. The final few minutes of the match picked up and the near falls for Hollister were believable. The crowd doesn’t sound all that sold on Hollister as it’s probably 70/30 in favor or Hollister. Black has been a staple for AAW and obviously he’s going to WWE soon. It’s a good match and a big win for Hollister to be elevated into the main event scene for AAW.)
Ninth Contest: Arik Cannon & Darin Corbin vs. Krotch & Lince Dorado: Dorado and Cannon kickoff the tag match. Cannon gets the early advantage with a wrist lock, but Dorado quickly counters with a wrist lock. Cannon counters with a hammerlock, but Dorado gets a headlock. Cannon chops Dorado against the ropes. Dorado arm drags Cannon and delivers a dropkick. Cannon clotheslines Dorado and sends Dorado hard into the corner. Dorado forearms Cannon after Krotch prevented Dorado hitting the corner. Dorado kicks Corbin over the top turnbuckle several times. Cannon is sent into Corbin and they fall to the floor. Dorado hits a corkscrew dive over the top to the floor. Corbin avoids a strike and Cannon yanks Krotch to the mat. Corbin stomps Krotch and taunts the crowd. Cannon returns to the match and stomps Krotch on the mat. Cannon chops Krotch and hits a twisting suplex for a two count. Corbin knee drops Krotch to keep control of the contest. Corbin knee drops Krotch again and Cannon tags into the match. Cannon chops Krotch into a corner and delivers several strikes. Cannon runs into a boot in the corner. Krotch drops Cannon to the mat and both men are down.
Dorado gets tagged in as does Corbin. Dorado hits a springboard crossbody, but Corbin cuts Dorado off. Dorado delivers a handspring elbow strike. Dorado hits a wheelbarrow bulldog on Cannon. Corbin hits a cutter on Dorado. Krotch hits a krotch bomb off the top rope. Krotch drop toe holds Corbin into a 69 position onto Corbin’s female manager. Cannon hits a suplex on Krotch. Dorado plants Cannon with a tornado DDT for a two count. Cannon slaps Dorado and hits a twisting suplex for a near fall. Cannon chops Dorado into the ropes. Dorado hits a reverse hurricanrana on Cannon and heads to the top rope. Dorado hits a shooting star press, but Cannon kicks out at two. Cannon spikes Dorado with a brainbuster followed by a shining wizard to pickup the win. (**1/4. A decent tag match, but I didn’t find myself invested in the action all that much. It felt like a filler tag before the main event. The action wasn’t too bad, though. I dug Dorado and his fast pace offense.)
Main Event: AAW Heavyweight Champion Silas Young vs. Jimmy Jacobs: Young slaps Jacobs and Jacobs responds with a flurry of strikes to knock Young to the floor. Young gets back into the ring as Jacobs went to the floor. Young controls Jacobs with a wrist lock, but Jacobs responds with right hands. Young gets a headlock on Jacobs again and delivers a few knee lifts. Young tries for a suplex, but Jacobs breaks free and strikes Young into the ropes. Young knee lifts Jacobs and delivers several stomps in the corner. Jacobs fights back with stomps in the corner. Jacobs clubs Young to the mat for a near fall. Jacobs controls Young on the mat with a body scissors. Young kicks Jacobs, but Jacobs responds with a clothesline for a two count. Jacobs rams Young into the corner. Jacobs hits a middle rope crossbody, but Young rolls through. Jacobs breaks free and sunset flips Young after pulling Young’s trunks down. Jacobs jabs Young into the corner several times. Young dumps Jacobs to the floor while his ass is still exposed for the crowd. Young rolls Jacobs back into the ring for a two count. Young keeps a sleeper on Jacobs in the middle of the ring. Jacobs breaks free, but Young delivers a gut buster and covers Jacobs for a two count.
Young stomps Jacobs on the mat and yanks Jacobs off the ropes leading to a near fall on a quick cover. Young comes off the ropes to deliver an axe handle strike for a two count. Young elbows Jacobs in the corner and hits a seated clothesline for a near fall. Young puts a sleeper on Jacobs in the middle of the ring. Young knee lifts Jacobs, but Jacobs rams Young into the corner. Young punches Jacobs into the corner, but Jacobs fights back with right hands. Jacobs clotheslines Young a couple of times. Jacobs elbows Young in the corner. Jacobs palm strikes Young for a two count. Jacobs shoulder rams Young in the corner and hits a spear in the corner. Jacobs plants Young with a DDT for a two count. Young stops Jacobs with a jawbreaker and delivers a big boot after a rollup leading to a near fall. Young is sent chest first into the corner and Jacobs tries for the Contra Code, but Young counters with a backbreaker for a two count. Young locks in a full nelson submission, but Jacobs doesn’t submit. Jacobs manages to reach the bottom rope. Young stomps Jacobs and comes off the ropes, but Jacobs nails Young with a spear for a two count. Jacobs heads to the top rope and hits a senton splash for a two count. Young hits a German suplex for a near fall.
Jacobs puts a choke on Young, but Young tosses Jacobs with a northern lights suplex, but Jacobs keep the choke locked in. Young suplexs Jacobs over the top to the floor and both men crash to the floor. Jacobs rams Young into the railing several times. Jacobs heads to the top rope, but Young blocks a senton with his knees. Young hits a rolling fireman’s carry and hits a headstand moonsault for a two count. Young grabs the championship, but the referee yanks it away. Jacobs locks in a choke in the middle of the ring. Young appears to be passed out. Young recovers and gets to his feet. The referee is knocked down. Young decks Jacobs with the championship. Young covers, but Jacobs kicks out at two. Young mounts Jacobs with right hands on the mat. Young chokes Jacobs in the corner, and it appears Jacobs has been busted wide open. Young hits a snap suplex and rolls over to hit another snap suplex. Young hits a middle rope axe handle to the chest for a two count. Young sends Jacobs into the corner and delivers a chop. Young presses into the open wound trying to open the cut more. Young stomps Jacobs on the mat a few times.
Young tries for a back suplex, but settles for a backbreaker for a two count. Young elbow drops Jacobs several times for a two count. Young goes under the ring to grab a table. Young slides the table into the ring and stomps Jacobs on the mat. Young sits Jacobs on the top turnbuckle. Young tries for a suplex, but Jacobs punches Young off a few times. Jacobs puts Young through the table with a top rope senton splash! Jacobs covers, but Young manages to kick out at two. Irish Airborne come out and attack Jacobs. They hit a double stomp and a Death Valley Driver over the knees. Young covers, but Jacobs kicks out at two again. Irish Airborne try for a spike piledriver, but Shane Hollister and Tyler Black make the save. Hollister nails Young with a running knee strike. Black superkicks Young and Jacobs is put on top. Jacobs has the cover, but Young kicks out at two. Irish Airborne is on the floor brawling with Hollister and Black. They begin to trade strikes from their knees in the middle of the ring. Jacobs punches Young several times, but a knee lift stops him. Jacobs hits a cutter out of the corner and hits the Contra Code. Jacobs goes for the cover, but Young kicks out at two. Young low blows Jacobs and almost wins with an inside cradle. Young hits God’s Last Gift and locks in a choke on Jacobs. The referee checks Jacobs three times and Jacobs passed out. Young retains the title. (***1/2. The interference part of the match was a bit overbooked, but it was entertaining and ultimately didn’t play a direct factor into the finish of the match. I wasn’t sure what to expect from these two, but they executed a good main event and there wasn’t a dead period during the match. I’d like to see a six man tag with the six guys involved in the match at some point, too.)
Backstage, House of Truth cuts a promo about them losing their match tonight. They talk about the Phoenix Twins getting a tag title shot next month. It has been eight months since they lost. The money and clothing means nothing as the only thing that matters is the gold. They will keep the gold no matter what.
Final Thoughts:
Hollister/Black and Young/Jacobs are the standout matches for the show. Aside from those two matches the rest of the show is average wrestling at best with a couple of disappointing matches. I’ll consider this an average show overall, but not a show that is must-see by any means. Heading into event I was most interested in the two matches mentioned before and Crazy/Richards, which didn’t reach much in terms of entertainment. I’m not sure if a Hollister/Young program on top would keep my interest, though.
