World Wrestling Federation presents Prime Time Wrestling
Date: 5/25/1992
From: Various Locations
Matches:
1.) Jim Duggan defeated Col. Mustafa
2.) WWF Tag Team Champions Money Inc. defeated Jim Brunzell & Glen Ruth
3.) British Bulldog wrestled The Mountie to a double count-out
Angle Developments/Notes:
1.) Vince McMahon, Hillbilly Jim, Bobby Heenan, Mr. Perfect and Jim Duggan are on the opanel this week. It’s Memorial Day, so Duggan is heavy on USA today.
2.) Mustafa works over Duggan with a few strikes against the ropes, but Duggan responds with clotheslines and Mustafa rolls to the floor to regroup. Duggan blocks a few strikes and pummels Mustafa with several punches causing Mustafa to bail to the floor again. Duggan backs Mustafa into a corner, but Mustafa responds with a cheap shot as the referee is out of position. Adnan eye rakes Duggan on the apron as the referee is distracted. Adnan eye rakes Duggan on the floor as Mustafa continues to distract the referee. Mustafa keeps Duggan on the mat with a sleeper, but Duggan doesn’t stay down for too long. Duggan shoulder blocks Mustafa, but runs into a throat thrust. Mustafa takes Duggan down again with a sleeper, but Duggan refuses to stay down, again. Mustafa sends Duggan into the corner face first, but Duggan gets to his feet and pummels Mustafa with right hands in the corner. Duggan is stopped by a right hand from Mustafa. Mustafa kicks Duggan on the mat, but only manages a two count on the cover. Mustafa tries for a suplex, but Duggan blocks and counters with a vertical suplex. Adnan gets on the apron to distract the referee. Mustafa grabs the 2×4, but Duggan punches Mustafa and hits Mustafa with the 2×4 two times leading to the win. (1/2*. That sucked.)
3.) Special Report with Lord Alfred Heys focuses on the Warrior/Shango segment from Superstars last week where Shango put a curse on Warrior causing Warrior to vomit.
4.) The panel talk about the Ultimate Warrior/Papa Shango issue with Heenan not wanting to see it anymore. Perfect calls Warrior a puke. Duggan wonders what would happen to Perfect if he got cursed.
5.) The panel talk about Memorial Day and how they celebrate. Heenan says that Hillbilly Jim goes to family reunions to find a date.
6.) The panel talks about the WBF and they bring up Lex Luger being a guest poser at the event.
7.) Money Inc. won their tag team squash match when DiBiase earned the win with the Million $ Dream.
8.) The panel talk about the Berzerker/Undertaker issue. Perfect thinks that Berzerker will make cold cuts with his sword when in the ring with the Undertaker.
9.) The panel talk about the Nasty Boys, but they also bring up High Energy. Owen has a lot of energy, but Heenan pokes fun at Koko B. Ware’s oversized pants. I’m assuming these two teams will be paired up on the house shows.
10.) Bulldog backs Mountie against the ropes, but cleanly backs off as Mountie taunts the crowd. Bulldog is shoved away by Mountie on a second lockup attempt. Bulldog shoves Mountie away from the ropes and they have a standoff. Bulldog puts a headlock on Mountie, but comes off the ropes to shoulder block Mountie. Mountie taunts Bulldog and poses for the crowd, who don’t care of Mountie. Bulldog avoids a monkey flip by hitting a headbutt on Mountie. Mountie recovers in the corner with Jimmy Hart. Mountie kicks Bulldog in the midsection and continues with strikes over the back. Bulldog press slams Mountie to the mat causing Mountie to roll to the floor. Bulldog gains arm control as Mountie rolls back into the ring. Bulldog runs the ropes and is met with a knee lift to the midsection. Mountie stomps Bulldog on the mat a few times. Mountie nails Bulldog with a leaping elbow strike for a two count. Mountie puts an abdominal stretch on Bulldog, but doesn’t get a submission. Bulldog catches Mountie in the corner and tries for a powerslam, but Mountie held onto the ropes and almost pins Bulldog as they fall down. Mountie misses a middle rope crossbody attempt. Bulldog plants Mountie with a running powerslam, but Jimmy Hart gets involved. Bulldog goes to the floor to stalk Hart. Mountie runs up from behind and Bulldog sends Mountie into the timekeepers table. The referee counted both men out. (*1/4. The cheap finish sucks since they are both involved in feuds with other guys. Bulldog probably could have gone over here and it not impact the Mountie/Slaughter feud all that much.)
11.) The panel talk about the voice message left by Elizabeth. Vince notes that Elizabeth never said Randy’s name and Hillbilly thinks that it’s another trick by Flair and Perfect. Heenan is convinced that Elizabeth wants to be back with Flair.
Final Thoughts:
It’s been a slow build for the main angles as we’re still three months away from the next pay-per-view in August. WWF having to maintain a build for five months and keep the TV strong certainly can be a chore. They have much more success on the condensed syndicated shows compared to these two hour shows where they rehash the interesting stuff from the weekend shows with some house show special matches. There’s not much progression going on right now.
Thanks for reading.
