Angle Developments/Notes:
1.) This is Crush’s return to WWF in-ring action since last year when he was wrestling with Demolition. Crush had several vignettes airing over the last few months. Crush shared an insert promo during the match and says for any wrester who gets in his way they will find out why they call him crush, because he likes to crush things. Crush wins the squash match and his finishing move for the match was a spinebuster. I would’ve expected something crush related.
2.) Special Report with Lord Alfred Hayes once again focuses on Papa Shango’s curse on Ultimate Warrior. Shango putting the curse on Warrior to begin with is highlighted. Warrior vomiting on Superstars two weeks is shown, again. Hayes wonders if it’s the curse simply a stomach ache. Last week, Warrior had a black liquid coming out of his head, which clearly scared Warrior.
3.) Mountie and Jimmy Hart share an insert promo during Mountie’s squash. Mountie talks about the feeling he had when he zapped Sgt. Slaughter. After the victory, Mountie threatens to zap the enhancement guy, but the referee caused a distraction to prevent the zap.
4.) Mean Gene conducted a podium interview with the WWF Intercontinental Champion Bret Hart. Hart talks about WrestleMania VIII being the toughest match he’s ever had against Roddy Piper. Hart dedicates the championship to his father, Stu. It’s Stu’s 77th birthday. Gene brings up one person who’s trying to win the championship and it’s Shawn Michaels. Hart says that Michaels kind of reminds Hart of himself. Bret puts over Michaels ability and his great moves. Hart says there two major differences between them. First one is that he doesn’t need to pay women to go out with him. Second difference is that Michaels doesn’t have the championship and he never will!
Final Thoughts:
This week felt like it was repetitive segments of the same angle advancements and didn’t provide anything new. Bret’s interview on Michaels was done well and made it personal. Crush’s debut wasn’t anything all that great, but he’s added depth on the babyface side.
Thanks for reading.
