However, if one of the Steves loses tonight then the loser gets banned from 2CW forever. They accept the challenge. (*1/2. Not bad of a match and a major upset for the rookies. Graham and Van Slyke both showed potential and would end up being a regular act for 2CW during the rest of 2CW’s existence. Shields was enjoyable as a heel, too.)

The referee proceeds to count all three men and the match ends in a triple count out. (*1/2. I hate the finish. A triple count out in a three way dance makes no sense to me. The match was a little bit sloppy, but the action was decent for what it was. It probably went on for far too long and having a non-finish was a bit disappointing.) After the match, the 2CW DVD commentator is given the task to make a decision regarding what happened. They will have a rematch in the Grand Prix as a first round match and the winner advances. So, they all essentially won.

A damn good match. Best Around may not be well known, but they were a regular team for CZW at this point. Hell, they were in the 2CW Tag Title tournament in 2009, and by the sounds of it the crowd may have forgotten about that. I remember being at the show and the finish was not expected for the Best Around. They impressed myself and my pal Tony that we were sold to go to the Binghamton show next month to see them against the American Wolves.)

Ephex can’t reach the ropes, but is able to get an inside cradle as Edwards pulls Ephex back to the center of the ring. Ephex holds on and pins Edwards for the win. (***1/2. Ephex tends to be hit or miss for me, but when he’s in the ring with a top in-ring quality he tends to holds his own. That was the case here as they delivered a good hard hitting match.)

I think it’s almost expected that there would be three falls, and when Lee won the first fall nobody was expecting a clean sweep. Brown not winning a fall didn’t hurt the match, but it likely impacted crowd response since the expectation is typically a third fall that never happened. They were also in a tough spot coming behind the previous two entertaining matches with no buffer.) After the match, Slyck decides against shaking hands with Brodie at first, but does indeed shake hands. However, Slyck comes back with a chair and whacks Brodie over the back on the middle rope. Brown then drops Lee with the Appreciation Bomb onto the chair! Slyck destrots Lee with several chair shots in the corner. Brown is suspended, but Brown attacks the 2CW officials.

Even in 2010, Raven is having a tough time moving around. This was never going to be a great match, but rather the fun of seeing an ECW legend compete in 2CW. Raven was one of my favorites growing up and seeing him live was pretty cool. Raven is a good entertainer and made up for his in-ring limitations with his microphone work throughout the match.)

Olsen has a microphone and mentions wanting his rematch and makes the match a three way dance. Olsen and Axe work together to stomp Freddie on the mat. The 2CW commissioner gets in the ring and tells Olsen that he doesn’t get to change the rules. The commissioner is ready to fight Olsen, but then makes a joke that it is hot in there to justify rolling up his sleeves. However, it is also announced as a four way dance. Spike Dudley is introduced as the fourth man!

Freddie forearms Axe and hits a sunset flip powerbomb for a two count! Freddie locks in the Sharpshooter in the middle of the ring!
Portia Perez comes out and slaps Freddie, but Freddie pie faces Portia. Freddie avoids a chair shot and puts the sharpshooter on Perez! Axe recovers to whack Freddie with a chair shot. Axe nails Freddie with the fisherman buster on the chair to retain the title. After the match, all four men continue to fight and are laid out after a double Acid Drop on a grouping of chairs. (**1/2. The camera work left a lot to be desired here, but the action was chaotic and a decent brawl for what they were going for. The crowd is itching for Axe to lose the title, but 2CW knows it’s not time yet and they will drag it on for a bit longer. Axe doesn’t have go-away heat as champion, it’s the good kind of heat. Spike and Olsen being added into the match made the match more intriguing and they added to the match in a positive manner.)
Final Thoughts:
LOTE V Night Two gets a thumbs up from me. Best Around/Up In Smoke and Ephex/Edwards stood out as the best matches, but there was other quality action throughout the show. Syracuse crowd tends to be the most rabid and it translates well on DVD to add to the viewing experience.
Thanks for reading.
