Tweek hits a somersault dive to the floor onto Wagner for a near fall as Dash gets a two count on Matthews. Tweek sunset flips Matthews into a German suplex by Dash followed by a double superkick and that’s good enough for a three count. (**. It’s kind of a weak tag match in the sense of the challengers are not the highest of challengers. However, it wasn’t an awful match to kickoff the show. Phoenix Twins are a decent team in AAW.) After the match, Phoenix Twins call out the House of Truth and tell them to come for the titles face to face. Christin Able and Josh Raymond storm the ring leading to a pull apart brawl as several officials and other wrestlers attempt to keep them apart. The brawl quickly leads into the next match.

Able and Raymound send Nothing to the floor, but Faith delivers a double clothesline. Raymond is hip tossed out of the corner and the same happens to Able. Martini backs off into the corner and Able hits a Death Valley Driver on Faith. Raymond hits a corkscrew dive off the top and pins Faith for the win. (**1/2. A solid tag match with a little bit of a weak finish. I’m not overly familiar with either team, but Faith In Nothing seemed to get over fairly well in their debut for AAW.) After the match, Truth Martini cuts a promo saying he’s insulted that House In Truth were challenged because he makes the challenges. Martini issues a challenge for a title match against the Phoenix Twins next month. The Phoenix Twins run into the ring and brawl with the House of Truth. Eventually, the locker room empties to restore order.
Backstage, The North Star Express are interviewed. Corbin can’t believe people would forget about the only former two time tag champs. They haven’t fallen completely off as people have suggested. They aren’t yesterday news. Corbin takes credit for being the reason people show up to the AAW shows. Arik Cannon chimes in and says that Corbin and Cruz will be tag champions for a third time. Cannon is confident that he’ll beat two of his opponents and notes he beat three opponents last month, which means he beat five guys. Brubaker heads to the top rope, but Beck shoves the referee into the ropes knocking Brubaker off. Beck plants Brubaker with a powerbomb for the win. (*1/2. I’m assuming that Martini is scouting Beck for the House of Truth. Beck seems to be the next big guy that AAW will push to some degree similar to Keith Walker in the early days.)
Backstage, Hunter Matthews and Knight Wagner are interviewed regarding their title match loss that they had requested. Wagner blames Matthews for losing the match. Wagner yells at Matthews for blowing the match and says he hate shim. Matthews is left stunned.
A video package promoting the AAW Heritage Championship match is shown. AAW Heritage Champion Arik Cannon cut a promo saying that tonight is not the night for Shane Hollister to win the title from him. Matt Cross also says that Hollister is a good wrestler, but made a mistake getting involved in his match and Hollister will learn from his mistake. Cannon says that Cross can do all the flips he wants to do, but it is a wrestling match and he’s going to pin Cross and the high risk moves will not get him the win. Hollister mentions the accidental strike recently and now there’s a problem between them. Hollister doesn’t start shit or take shit, so he’ll standup for himself and Cross is in his way. Hollister says Cannon was a guy that he looked up to before he met him in the wrestling business. Hollister got soured on Cannon because Cannon is a cocky dude. Cross puts over Cannon a good athlete, but that’s about it. Cross believes the fans deserve a real champion like himself. Cross talks about going all over the world and he brings home gold. It bugs him that he hasn’t won a title in AAW. Hollister blames Cannon for costing him the tag titles. Cannon holds the AAW Heritage Championship in high regard and cares about the title more than the AAW Heavyweight Championship. Cannon promises to make the AAW Heritage Championship one step above Tyler Black and the AAW Heavyweight Championship. Cross promises to come out on top because he’s the best athlete. Hollister talks about the struggle of a three way dance and notes that he wants to beat Cannon because he’s the champion. Hollister is gunning for Cannon and knock him out. Cannon isn’t use to three way dances with two other dudes, but he’s going to do everything he can to win the match. Cannon isn’t letting anyone take the belt from him.
Fifth Contest: AAW Heritage Champion Arik Cannon vs. Matt Cross vs. Shane Hollister in an elimination match: Of course, all three men kickoff the show putting holds on each other, which is a trademark thing to do in these matches. Hollister strikes Cannon several times followed by forearms. Hollister counters a clothesline, but misses a kick and Cannon clotheslines Hollister. Hollister fires up and gets up, but Cannon clotheslines Hollister followed by a shining wizard for the win. (**. Part of me thought that they’d do the babyface overcomes the odds and wins the title, but I guess that may have been too predictable. I was a bit underwhelmed by the match, and I think a lot of that has to do with Hollister being at the disadvantage of an injury. The crowd seemed to be a bit bummed that Cannon retained, too.)
Sixth Contest: Zero Gravity (Brett Gakiya & CJ Esparza) vs. North Star Express (Darin Corbin & Ryan Cruz): Cruz and Brett kickoff the tag match. Matt Cross comes out to distract the referee. CJ hits a hurricanrna on Cruz off the top, and lands on Corbin. CJ hits a shooting star elbow drop on Corbin as Brett hit a dive onto Cruz. CJ covers Corbin and wins the match! (**1/2. CJ and Brett have a ton of potential to be an entertaining high lying underdog team. Corbin and Cruz are a solid heel team, and Corbin has a level of charisma that makes him even more entertaining. I understand Cross involvement, but I’d much rather Brett and CJ pull off the upset for a more shocking victory.)

A good match and easily the best match on the show to this point. These two would have classics in ROH a little later on, and this isn’t to that level, but still a good bout regardless.)

It’s hardly a wrestling match as they went the route of just using weapons the entire time. Which, for the live audience it probably a lot more entertaining than viewing at home. The finish is a bit of a downer for Daniels to cost Jacobs the match. Why not just have Boz win clean and be a monster in the process? There wasn’t anything too wild in the match, but there were a few comedic moments, which I’d prefer a more violent match rather than be sitting here giggling at these two destroying themselves.)
Backstage, Nikki is on the phone trying to avoid being interviewed. Nikki leaves the arena without talking about anything.

Daniels knows that their bills aren’t being paid by the business they’ve given their bodies to. Daniels says they got nowhere for wrestler in front of nobody for no money. Daniels says that Jacobs is living the good life at 24-years old and doesn’t think Jacobs is owed anything. Daniels notes that Boz had to put over half the guys on the roster. Daniels mentions Jay Bradley is off doing things now too. Daniels thinks they should take out Tyler Black and Jimmy Jacobs. When they come to their town they make them pay. Nobody cares about them, but they beat them into caring about them. Daniels wants to take Black’s belt and Jacobs pride to get them out of AAW. Daniels asks if Boz is with him and tells Boz to think about it.
Final Thoughts:
Black/Richards is an enjoyable match, but not at a must-see level. There’s some decent wrestling throughout the show, but I can’t recommend the show as a whole. It’s not a bad show by any means, it’s just not something I’d go out of my way to watch again. I had been interested in the final two matches, but was hopeful for a stronger undercard that didn’t exceed expectations. At best, it’s an average wrestling show.
Thanks for reading.
